We chose this hotel due to its price and accepted that we were expecting luxury accommodation. The cleanliness of the room was very acceptable however the health and safety was questionable. The carpet immediately outside our room was loose and we kept tripping over it. The toilet seat was cracked and my husband had to wrap toilet paper around it to stop it from pinching my rear end.The advert said "includes breakfast" - whilst we werent expecting anything extravagant a little more than cornflakes and toast would have been nice. We had to race to a seat as soon as one became empty. You didn't dare get up to get a second cup of coffee other wise your seat would have been taken. There was no cutlery - we had to share one teaspoon and one knife between 5 of us. The plates were wet and we had to dry them with the serviettes. Not the best of stays but I can say the bedding and ensuite was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.

the hotel itself was very clean, but when i asked for information about buses the staff only seemed concerned about what was on television, susequently i had 1 hour 20 mins on bus to find out i had still got 2 trips on tube left to get to olympia (down mainly to tube maintenance) even with buses stopping outside hotel, the journey took 2 hours. i can not comment on the food as i never eat breakfast in the hotels prefer to eat as i was meeting with a friend and did not want to waste time..but bed was comfortable and changed regulaly and there was plenty of hot water for the shower and i was at the back of the hotel so could sleep with the window open as it was about 30 degreese was a nice touch..would stay again if i needed this part of london....

So we arrived after a long flight from the states...took 45 minutes to check in! Not only that, the site was misleading in the respect of taking your card details...you have to pay when you get there.we were allocated room 3c...we were under the assumptions from the site the room was ensuite. We got guided to our room, which is situated outside the hotel-kind of like someones house but in the basement. The room was awful, the walls were filthy and the smell was musty, the biggest disbelief was the bathroom...shared facilities. Please read carefully on the site when you book. It did state rooms were clean (far from it), and when i booked i was certain i'd booked a room with en-suite. due to this gross misconduct of cleanliness, we went back to the check in desk to refuse the room. We were then informed that we could pay extra for the best room in the hotel. Room 320. Being tired,we wanted get a decent clean room with en-suite, we paid the extra and got shown to the room. The room did look clean. However, we literally ditched our bags in the room and went straight out.upon arrival a good number of hours later, i went to use the toilet. The fact there was no loo roll didn't phase me...but the toilet wouldn't flush!!i spoke to the unhelpful gentleman on the reception who informed me someone would come and fix it...so i waited....2 hours went by. I had to use the manky infested shared toilets on ground floor. Curiosity got the better of me, so i had to find out what was happening as it was now 9.30pm and we needed to use our toilet! I had been informed then that their caretaker had finished work at 6pm!! I did log a formal complaint, and was promised a call from the manager on monday - which i never received. I wanted the matter to be resolved on the saturday night as i was spending the night in the room and needed the facility of a toilet!i honestly do not advise you to stay in this hotel - not just because in low levels of service from the members of staff who can barely speak english, but also the fact the levels of working facilities are bare minimal...may as well bring your own bucket and loo roll!!you're better off sleeping on the streets than in this dump.

We stayed at the hotel for a week! The room was OK and clean. However, the customer service was not helpful at all! We had to change a room because suddenly one day we got back to our room and there were no curtains . All they could say was sorry and we were transferred in a basement room which was awful! We had a very tiring day and despite the inconvenience they have caused us they didn't even bother to help us transfer our things from the one room to the other ( no lift available). The breakfast was very poor just c reals and toast. We had to wake up very early in order to find both some food and space to seat and have our breakfast!!

We turned up and were greeted by a very polite and helpful receptionist. We then managed to park our car in the smallest car park ive ever seen which we had trouble getting out of. When we finally reached our room, the cleaners hadnt cleaned the room or made the beds so we were re-located. About 10 hours later we reached our room which was comfortable and had a nice flat screen tv. The shower was quite nice too but we could have done with a bath. The tea bags were asda value and there wasnt any hot chocolate :( But we soon got to sleep as it was nice and quiet. But then, at 1.30 am, someone had been smoking and set off the fire alarm. We were worried as we were stuck in the basement and would have been difficult to escape if there had have been a real fire. The next morning we went to the tiny breakfast room where we had some lovely daisy bread toast and a glass of range juice. But tbf it was free. I think the hotel was alright for the money... really not as bad as some people have made out.. just have to hope the fire alarm doesnt go off if you stay there!!

Room: clean, big emough for one person with prisine shower and toilet en-suite. Good, hot, powerful shower.Wifi great from my room however I was two floors above reception, I know some people have to use in 'lobby' (more like a front room) area.Breakfast is a big downfall in my opinion: approx 10 people queue to put toast through one toaster. Hot drink and two juices available and two cereals. From my room, the only thing I would change is double glazing. I was front facing to a bust main road and by the end of the third night of my stay surens and trafiic noise were going straight through me!I felt safe throughout my stay, plenty of amenties and public transport nearby and I felt Peckham Lodge was excellent value for money.

It is good value for money. Peckham Lodge is located in a good area, with easy access to public transportation, within 15-20 minutes you can get to heart of London to do your business or to see attractions. Staff are nice and friendly. We a family of three stayed in an en-suite 3 bed room for two nights. It was cosy and warm. It had a fridge, cooker and TV as well, but none of them working!!! When I asked the receptionist about this he said all have been disconnected. Room was not clean enough, maybe because it is an old hotel. There was only one towel for three of us (!) and the towel wasn't changed during our stay. I think as a standard towel and bed sheets must be changed everyday in a two star hotel. We could not get sleep until mid night because there was a lot of noise around us. I think because our neighbours were very nuisance. They keep shutting the doors (we were very unlucky). In total considering cons and pros, I think Peckham Lodge is a good option.

The hotel looked very nice from the pictures online, however, its very misleading. Situated in a dodgy area, the staff when I arrived were unfriendly and unhelpful, the porter not even offering to help carry my bag up the 3 flights of stairs. Room was very basic, and very cold. The bathroom was shared, and did not have a working light inside, which meant showering in the dark before attending a conference. I would not stay there again and would not recommend it to others. The door to my room did not feel very secure. I would say this is more of a hostel than a hotel/lodge.

Renovated rooms? Maybe, but ours certainly wasn't one. My tv didn't work, my shower sprayed tempramental water everywhere but onto me & the duvet covers were just weird - it's not too much to ask for them to match, it is? If the term 'continental' has changed to mean cheap cereal and cold toast then the breakfast was just as described. Frankly, the male staff were creapy, the area a little dodgy - but for £30 a night & 2 stars, you can hardly expect luxury (though, a friendly welcome and a bit of a revamp wouldn't go amiss).

To be fair i should be reviewing three rooms because that's how many bog standard rooms it took until i got a suitable one. The manager asked a member of staff to take us to out room to which he replied "I'm not in the mood" and walked off.Not a great start really. The first room was smelling of paint, in the middle of an extension to the hotel that was covered in smoke and builders everywhere. The hot water didn't work so I complained 3 times before they told me to use the room next door for hot water, and the water didn't even work and was full of builders. After politely kicking up a fuss they moved me and my mate to a room with a double bed, although i had requested a twin room, to which he said I had only requested a twin room which wouldn't mean that I was definitely going to get it.After basically saying I was going to walk out he got us a twin room, which was fine until the power went off. Didn't stay for breakfast. BIt shocked that the hotel is still open to be honest. The room I had in the end was fine but it should'nt have taken three attempts to get a suitable one.All in all, very poor.

I stayed at Peckham Lodge with my daughter (age 26) whilst attending hospital (King's College) as it was quite close to there. We were there from Wednesday to Saturday. Our room was clean, wth twin beds and shower room. We didn't expect any frills with the price but it served it's purpose and was good value for money. The breakfast is toast and cereal with tea/coffee and orange/apple juice, and again was basic but sufficient. I would say it's very good value for money if you're ok with basic, and my daughter is actually hoping to stay there again when visiting London for a few days holiday later in the year as it's quite a good base. The taxi into Victoria is approx £14 but there's ample regular buses at £2 each. The only minus points are that we found it to be a little noisy at times late in the evening as you could hear other people coming in (I suppose because it's a large building that has been divided into rooms but not soundproofed, and this was made worse by our room being above the main entrance). Also, we had to carry our cases up 2 flights of stairs as there was no lift (and the gentleman showing us to our room didn't offer!)All in all we'd recommend it as quite good value for money.

We stayed at Peckham Lodge in January 2010. We had tickets for a show in the West End so wanted somewhere we could crash afterwards. From the outside the hotel looks grand. Parking is a problem as there are only 8 spaces for over 75 rooms. The receptionist dealt with our arrival ok but we weren't felt very welcome - more of an inconvenience. Our room was fine, small but just what we required and had expected. We had a fridge but the gas wasn't working on the hob and the reception for the TV (channels 1-5) was poor. The breakfast was continental and was very basic. A couple slices of toast and some cereal. Breakfast room was small and could not accomodate all guests around 9am. The man who was working in the breakfast room was unhelpful to a guest when he asked for a plate for his toast. Overall we were satisfied as we had somewhere comfy to rest but in future we would probably look elsewhere for a few more of those creature comforts.

I found Peckham Lodge on a budget website before finding it here at laterooms.com. The reviews on the other site (only 2 reviews) were favorable. What do you expect for £36 a night? After booking I looked at the reviews here. I was not reassured. Probably the worst reviews I have ever read. Failed bookings, unsanitary accommodation, no hot water.... I immediately telephoned the hotel to check my booking, express concern at the reviews I had read and checked that they did have hot water. All seemed well. As I approached the hotel on my arrival I was terrified at what I might find. This hotel has seen better days but it has also seen worst. The room I stayed in was a newly renovated room (Dec 2009) in fact I don't think the bathroom had been used before and there was no bedsite lamps. Very Very clean. Very very warm too. As it was cold outside I didn't want to complain but I'm glad I didn't have to sleep in the bed beside the radiator! If you stay here be sure to telephone ahead and mention this review. I have no idea what the rest of the hotel is like but the newly renovated lower ground floor rooms are great value for money. Be prepared...the breakfast is help yourself to cereal and toast. But I say again... what to your expect for £36. So relived that this hotel is on the up.

But, to be honest, the decor was fairly basic and the breakfast was rather meagre. No complaints, as it was always meant to be cheap and cheerful, but with such a beautiful building, it's a shame it couldn't be just a tiny bit more comfortable, it had the feel of a university halls of residence when it could be a rather grand hotel.

We were shown a 'dungeon' room first, then a room that had no working heater, and then a room that was acceptable. My husband was wheeling two HUGE suitcases, and the person showing us the rooms never even offered to help him. The noise of visitors coming and going kept us awake most of the night. The echoing in the passage way was VERY loud. Breakfast was minimal. We popped back in the afternoon to have a quick nap, only to find workers building on the room next door. But .... the room and bathroom were both clean.

This Hotel was reccommended for being close to the o2 arena, it wasn't even close!! It was a 20 minute bus route to the closest tube station and in quite a rough area unknown to myslef when I booked it! The hotel was quite scruffy with the room being of a reasonable standard but I wouldnt reccommend this hotel for anybody having a short stay in London!!

Clean and cared for accommodation is a priority for amy traveller unfortunately this establishment fails miserably in this department; my room was extremely pungent and my alternative room was even worse! also the heating didn,t work in my room so i had a rather cold and smelly 2 nights stay in this miserable establishmnent.Cheap it might be but pack your gas masks and thermal underwear and unless you want salmonella poisoining to go with your other ailments avoid the breakfast !

Been there some year ago -- still refurbishment in progress. Tiny room (may be because I booked single?) The room not very clean, esp. the floor full of spots, Breakfast room loathsome, same as corridors with concrete floors. Advantage: cheap.

its cheap, a little bit rough but if you're after a london break on a budget then this will do, just buy a travelcard and you can get to the big smoke and all over it, I had a good weekend all in all and peckham lodge was no more than a place to rest our heads, was somewhat peaved that laterooms said normal price was £110, I paid £60 and at reception the room would of cost me £70, I smell a rat in the marketing department

Turned up in the evening to find out that the rooms we booked were not available - it took about 1 1/2 hours for them to tell us this, we were waiting to check in for ages even though there was nobody else there! Staff were rude, place looked disgusting. They tried to offer us a shared room even though we booked 3 singles. Its was the most disgusting room ever, they had obviously just kicked out loads of people from there as it was smelly and the bedsheets were dirty. Wish i had read the reviews before booking!!

This would be one of he wrst hotels I have ever stayed at secondonly to theEuro lodge at clapham. I lost a whole day of my holiday waiting for a room that I had already booked on line. The maid at breakfast was rude and extremely unhelpful to me and the other guests. While I realise they had acomuter malfunction at the time, things could and should have been handled better an the guests should have ben aprised of the problem not brushed off and told nothing as most of us that day were.

Its a lovely setting, ideal for getting around London. But if you are on top floor they are refurbishing and they keep switching off the water and there is NO hot water in the showers, i suggest you go down a floor to use the showers. Staff very helpful because we didnt have water so just tell them and they will accommodate you. Its an OK place if you are only staying a weekend!
