Sherlock Holmes - cool

We had a very pleasant stay at the Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes, we arrived at night so weren't worried by whether we had a view or not. The double room was comfortable and quiet (at back of hotel I think), although we did have a bit of fun working out how to get the room temperature comfortable, we finally managed it! Breakfast was delicious, I had scrambled eggs and salmon, and it was lovely. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The position was superb, just a two minute walk from Baker Street underground so access was easy.

Breakfast service

I thought, on busy time during 8:00-9:00, it\'s seems to be less staff in a dining room. I needed to wait for the service.

Disappointed

Considering my friend and I had booked a 4 star hotel for a treat, we were very disappointed. The room was supposed to be a superior room but was small, had no drawer space, the shower was broken, the window wouldnt open and the we had to get a maintenance man out to fit the bedroom door which would not close properly. The ony good thing about the hotel was its location on Baker Street which suited our plans perfectly. We had booked a twin room via 'Late Rooms' but was informed on arrival that this is only a request and is dependant on availability, this was not mentioned at all in our paperwork confirmation from Late Rooms. We had no choice but to accept a double as the hotel was apparently full.

Good hotel, great location, great communal areas, but room let it down!

I do like this hotel, the location is great, the staff are great, the communcal areas such as the bar and restaurant are great, but I thought the room could of been better. Excellent bathroom, but sleeping area could of been better. I stayed with a friend in a twin room, but the beds were so close they were pretty much a double bed.

Great place for a weekend break

My wife and I spent 2 nights here to enjoy a bit of shopping for a weekend. The hotel is perfectly placed to access the main shops on Oxford Street and whilst we didn't try the food at the hotel, the staff at reception were friendly, the room was clean, well kitted out, comfortable and definitely above average. The only minus point was the pillows could have been more comfy, but that's very much personal taste. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone,

May Day Weekend Stay

The hotel staff were very helpfull, I had managed to leave all our jackets in the cab and by the time we came back in the afternoon they had tacked down and was waiting for me. The rooms are of moderate size but enough for a long weekend stay. In walking distance to Oxford Street, Madame Tussauds, Sherlock Holmes Museum and a short journey to Westminster. The rooms were very clean and beds very comfortable and we would definately stay here again.

Very Hot and Airless

The room was fine but a bit tired looking and in need of redecoration. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a sliding glass screen which is a little off-putting.
Unfortunately the 'air conditioning' only blows out hot air and the windows couldn't be opened. Despite turning the air conditioning off neither of us slept well because it was so hot and airless.
When we booked we were promised a free bottle of wine and free internet access if we stayed for two days - we received neither. The well-meaning but badly trained reception staff even charged us for internet use and tried to charge for items from the mini-bar we had not taken. Apparently this is because items are on a sensor and if moved/knocked automatically get added to your bill!!!
I've stayed here before and do find the staff charming and helpful but this hotel needs an update - windows that open would make staying there so much more comfortable.

Fantastic hotel in central location

Stayed in the Sherlock Holmes for one night with my daughter who is studying in London and since it was her birthday I wanted to surprise her with a stay in a hotel. On check-in I told the receptionist that we were celebrating my daughters birthday and she immediately upgraded us to an executive suite and threw in a free breakfast for us both too. The hotel is absolutely immaculate and the staff can't do enough for you, I would definitely stay there again and will recommend to it to all.

Fantastic hotel!

We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff and check in was a breeze!
We were pleasantly surprised with our hotel room, having stayed in alleged 4* hotels in the past we were expecting a "Bog standard" room. However, the furnishings were modern but not cheap ikea style furnishings. The bed was amazingly comfy too!
We were impressed with the drink and food offers for people staying in the hotel, so we decided to eat in the hotel (which we wouldn't normally do). We were certainly not disappointed! The food was excellent and the maitre d' was exceptionally helpful and friendly!
Much to my husband's disappointment, the hotel was a 5 min walk from busy Oxford street, perfect for shopping!
Next time we come to London we will definitely stay here again!

The room was sold as superior double, it would not be a superior room in my opinion.
The room was small and well worn.

Friendly and Accommodating

Friendly and very accommodating staff, presented with a card and bottle of wine because it was my birthday, a lovely touch.Executive room we were booked into was positioned over some outdoor fans very noisy, asked if we could move room and they upgraded us to a mezzanine room. Reception efficient, helpful and friendly would stay here again.
