Was in a De-Luxe room but bed did not have a headboard and was pushed right up against the window. No curtains-only a blind very drafty.Pillows extremely soft and inadequate.Nice reception staff-good location but not value for money.

I've stayed here several times. It is easy to access by car (you can park just outside the congestion zone) and there is good walking and tube access to central London. Clean, modern, if somewhat sterile and impersonal

The Hotel is in a very good location...
The Hotel is in a very good location for West End visiting and the staff were friendly and courteous.
Reception is at the rear of the bar (showing football on a large screen during our stay) and you have to walk your luggage through tables of people drinking to reach it. Service was fast however.
Our "double" room was very small and poorly decorated. The carpet was quite marked and dirty. The bed was an old uncomfortable poor quality sprung mattress and the bed linen was old grey and tired. On the right side of the bed there was no room for a bedside table. On the left side the table was squeezed in beside the bed and the glass screen and sliding glass door to the bathroom. You share the experience of lying a couple of feet from your partner visibly using the toilet. No bedside lights were provided. The window didn't shut completely because it's warpeped and the catch broken. Overall the hotel was very dissapointing and we wouldn't use it again despite the friendliness of the staff or the excellent location.

The location is great, the room was beautiful and clean, the service was good as was the food, the bathroom was clean with a big 'but'. But the bathroom door consists of clear glass so there is absolutely no privacy whilst using the toilet or the bath. Additionally there is a mirror behind the bath so one was privy to a 360 degree view. There is no warning of this and if I had been travelling with my adult son I would have had to change hotels. Come on Sherlock Holmes; give us back our modesty.

What a fantastic stay, room not ready on arrival due to technical problems with the computer system, however able to leave luggage and go for a wander. On return room still not quite ready so offered complementary drink at bar, within ten minutes, we were told we had been upgraded to a suite to compensate for the inconvenience-WOW what a room, unbelievabley fantastic, clean comfortable, with a bedroom upstairs!!! Breakfast was fantastic too, fabulous choice including three hot choices (we were on continental breakfast rate)
Would definately stay here again, location spot on .

Very good room although the ironing board was somewhat of a challenge to erect - definitely a two person job! Did not get time to sample the leisure facilities. Bar was very nice and relaxing but extortionatley expensive. Excellent breakfast although toaster appeared that it was about to set alight.

A VERY disappointing hotel After weaving our way...
A VERY disappointing hotel. After weaving our way through the crowds of office workers to get into the hotel the first impression was shabby. We were greeted by friendly receptionists who allocated us a key to our "Executive" room. It quotes, on numerous occassion both on their website and in the brochure, the word "luxurious surroundings". It was far from it! The decor was grubby, the furniture scruffy and out-dated, a complimentary tray that only carried half what was promised and a mini fridge that didn't work and allow us to refrigerate our complimentary wine! The bathroom sink had various items in the drain, including a teaspoon, and when the plug was put in you couldn't get it out. When we complained we were taken to view other rooms but unfortunately these were only the smaller Superior rooms (and they use this term loosely). We were eventually taken to another "Executive" room but this had recently been vacated and was uncleaned. Eventually they informed us that they were giving us an upgrade. Well I wouldn't have paid any more for it as it was in the same state as the others albeit slightly larger and the fridge worked. Overall this was a very disappointing trip to London and having done this many times I have stayed in better hotels for alot less. The only pleasure from this stay was the superb efficiency and manners of all the staff we encountered, who were very embarassed by the trouble we had experienced. Not a hotel I will ever stay in again or recommend to others. My company use this hotel as a preferred location whilst in London on business so I will also be writing to the conference coordinators with my views.

Room was compact and the very small bathroom had frosted glass sliding door - not very private! Complimentary fruits, wine, etc were not in room. Poor quality when it did arrive. Breakfast was OK though - fairly standard continental but good service. Would have been happy to pay this price (175.00) for a good 4-star London hotel but this was overpriced, and disappointing.

When is a 'Superior' room not a 'Superior'...
When is a 'Superior' room not a 'Superior' Room. Elementary. At the Sherlock IT equates to a 'Standard' room anywhere else apparently. On check in we were given a sales pitch and, as it was our wedding anniversary 'treat', subsequently upgraded to an 'Executive Suite' at a cost of an extra 100. We were promised a fruit platter, complimentary wine, bath robes, slippers, continental breakfast and newspapers. We got the breakfast and papers but had to chase up the rest. We had bath robes for less than twenty four hours before the housekeepers took them away and the slippers never arrived!!! We booked a taxi for the theatre via the concierge. This cost 16.00 [trip of less than 1 mile] which we thought a bit steep even allowing for the one way system. But hey. It was our anniversary. Imagine our surprise when the return trip in a hackney cab cost only 7.00!!!! Well that's the moan out of the way. Having said all that the executive suite was lovely, the staff were polite and helpful, the hotel was spotless, the facilities were good, the food was enjoyable, the prices [apart from the concierge cab] were reasonable - for London - the location was excellent [near to Baker St tube, Oxford St, Marble Arch etc] and the Big Bus Tour was excellent. Apart from the minor quibbles we had an excellent, relaxing, enjoyable and interesting stay at the Sherlock.

Very disappointed with Executive Room, considering this was a paid for upgrade from the standard room. Room very basic, no bath in bathroom, only a shower - which the shower doors wouldn't close properly drenching the rest of the bathroom! The sliding doors to the bathroom were a nice touch, but the entrance to the bathroom would have been better placed, so the toilet wasn't almost next to the bed! Not sure if I would stay again given the price and the location.

Not used to London prices!! Would definately stay here again though. Only 10 minute walk to shopping area, my fiancee was thrilled!!

The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was of a very good standard although it was a bit pricey, however I havent made comparisons with other hotels in the area. This also went for the beverages. The service at the bar which we utilised extensively was of an excellant standard i.e remembering drinks order, clearing the table, friendly, and generally made you feel very welcome. When there was discrepancies in the standards which was minimal the staff listened, acted upon and welcomed this. The location was first class which perhaps indicates the price. Will definitely use it again when in London after I saved some money off course. Extra savings can also be made by accessing other web pages i.e laterooms.com etc.

When we arrived the room we were allocated, was given to another customer who complained about his room. The room we got 4th floor, lights did not work, this took another 20 mins to fix and then we discovered the toilet seat was broken! We were moved again this time to Mezzanine level; this room was hotter than a sauna. We went out for the evening so I left the window ajar; when we got back it was no cooler! All in all a pretty horrible experience, the staff were generally incompetent.

Not great. Rooms quite small. We had breakfast at 9.50, there were only 2 other people in the restaurant, but for some reason we were given no choice as to where to sit. The situation became clearer as 4 members of staff began to set the remaining tables for lunch. Very efficient I am sure! Also, the staff were pleasant but plastic (no personality).
