This hotel is very tired, needs money spent on it,

Disappointing accommodation. The hotel is situated in a nice area. We had an attic room ,we presume, due to the price but we were not impressed that we had to carry our luggage up 3 flights of NARROW stairs. When we finally got there the room was smelly. The bed was dreadful as it was not horizontal. The foot was hgher than the head side. Even the floor felt very uneven. It didn't feel very safe somehow. We did go to reception and told them that we were not very happy but we were met with vague looks and a promise that they would investigate the smell. Fortunately we were in London for the sights and used the roon to sleep only. I would not go there again and although I appreciate we were looking for reasonable priced accommodation I do think it should state that there is no lift etc etc.and that the accommodation could be an attic room. We would have paid more for a better room but we had no idea what we were getting. The breakfast was reasonale but we didn't eat it the second day as we wanted tto get out as soon as possible.
One more thing there was a loose carpet on the top flight of stairs that was a SERIOUS hazard. The bonus was London was great.

Initially we were given a basement room which was dark, cramped and dingy. However on request it was changed to a third floor room. This room was bigger, although small was adequate. It was light, clean and airy. The small bathroom contained a toilet and very efficient shower with copious amounts of hot water.
Breakfast was a cooked english breakfast, very filling and set us up for the day. the waiting staff were exceptionally friendly

If faced with the option of staying in this hotel or sleeping rough it would be a tough call.

The hotel suited our needs it was warm, clean and everyone was so friendly.
