The room was lovely and clean and the bedding was nice, there was a nice enough wetroom/shower room, but it was all so cramped as to be on the verge of complaint worthy, you couldn't actually get past the far edge of the bed without knocking yourself on the sideboard.
This was the basement room 7 (and 8 I assume is the same) which somebody else here has already complained about. The staff congregate just through a door right next to yours as they go about their cleaning duties, so there's little to no chance of a lie in as it gets very noisy. Not the staff's fault just the layout of the hotel is poor in that respect.
The breakfast was not up to scratch, choice of 3 cereals, some spam, some fake bacon/spam (cold cuts) and some plastic cheese. There was nice enough bread and croissants though, and some apples. Plenty of average coffee and the tea was above average.
The staff did the best they could with how the hotel is being sold/run so no complaints about them, reception was very good and open 24 hours, they gave us a free map (but I think that's more because it has some advertising link-in, but that's no worry)
The nearest tube is either Bayswater or Notting Hill gate, both of which are roughly 10-12 minutes walk, there are some restaurants very local to the Hotel, mostly greek, but there's a smashing Brazilian at the end of the road the Hotel is on, and a pub just a few doors the other way.
It was cheap enough to be OK at the price we paid, but any more than that (£60 a night for 2 people in 1 room with breakfast) and I would have been asking for my money back.
Also, not mentioned in their review or description or laterooms, is the fact that there appears to be work being carried out on the lift, although nothing was being done whilst we stayed, but it certainly wasn't finished.
