I have stayed here a couple of times, and it has always been a lovely stay. Quality of decor really nice, and as a frequent business traveller, it's nice to be ina place that has a bit of character and not box-standard hotel style.

I have stayed here twice now and would do again without a thought. I read previous reviews, mostly positive but some having a negative skew as regards the room. Yes, the rooms I have stayed in which have both been standard have been small, but they are compact, very comfortable, contemporary in style and, importantly, spotless. Both have been quiet and one was near the lift, so no problem for me. Given the price for a close to centre London hotel, I don't know what more anyone could ask for. If you want an all singing, dancing 5* experience with spa etc, then this is not it, nor is it pretending to be. It will also set you back another £300 on top of this hotel. If you're hesittating over the unknown, go for it!

The public rooms and situation of the hotel...
The public rooms and situation of the hotel were good however I do not consider a standard double room that is less than 8 feet square acceptable as a double. The bed effectively touched the walls on three sides and the width between the bed and the so called dressing table was not wide enough for two people to pass each other. The bathroom was equally small and could only house one person at a time. Obviously with the size of the room there were no chairs and the only place to sit was on the bed. This is actually the smallest hotel room I have stayed in in 30 years of travelling worldwide.

Lovely hotel and polite friendly staff, my only gripe was that, as is usually the case when you book a last minute cheap deal, we got the small room on the forth floor where the protruding roof eves pretty much cuts the room in half, so that we had to shuffle past each other around the bed.

The hotel is in a nice area and looks elegant at the entrance; the personnal was kind. The room had nice details but was very small, I didn't expect it like that after having seen the site; it would be nice to have a picture on the site of all rooms or at least an example of the smallest so one can decide better. The other rooms looked so much better.Breakfast was ok, nothing special; the staff though was extremely kind.

Room was small but we had a great time. The hotel is situated in a great location, close to Bayswater Tube. Not sure if I'd pay the full price for the room though due to its size and the fact that it didnt come with a shower curtain/door so water all over the floor each time you have a shower. That said, the hotel is great for couples whoi just want to spend time together on a city break.

This was better as it was on the second floor. However, the room was very small with two tiny single beds squeesed together.Although breakfast was included it’s only a continental one.In the end we left early and stayed at the Ramada round the corner.

I stayed at the New Linden for one night and I had a very enjoyable stay. The room was clean, well-decorated, and had a flat screen TV and double bed. Although I initially had a problem locating the hotel from the Bayswater tube station, it is actually just a few minutes walk away. It is such a lovely area and my room had a big window facing onto the street. The heat was adjustable through the radiator and worked well even though it was April and quite warm during the day (but cold at night). Very pleasant stay, will definitely consider again when I am back in london. I didn't eat the breakfast so I can't comment on the food quality.

The first room they gave us was in the basement and had a wall right outside the window. The radiator had broken and the temperature was at least 95F; when we complained we were treated as though it was our fault. The second room they showed us was also in the basement and you could only get past the end of the beds to get to the bathroom by leaning on the beds. The third room, which we took, had both beds against a wall with no space at the bottom of the beds to get past - you had to climb over the person next to you!Breakfast was ok but tea in an urn is a bit dated.

The room was comfortable if on the small side. However it was very noisy due to poor sound insulation, particularly when the lift was being used and when people were walking around upstairs or outside. The redeeming feature of this hotel is its staff, all of whom were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The breakfast was quite good, with a good selection of cereal, cold meats, cheese, rolls etc. It's a good hotel for a short city break especially since I got it at a discount price.

We booked a double room for few days in London to see the sights. Arrived Sunday afternoon, Sheema the receptionist was friendly and welcoming. We were given a free upgrade. The room was spotless and comfortable. The hotel is in a quiet road, (so there is minimal traffic noise), about a 10 minute walk from the tube station. Our room overlooked the back, all you could hear in the morning was birdsong. No air con , but there was a huge sash window which could be opened. The hotel might want to consider net curtains for these windows, fascinating as it was to watch two scaffolders constructing a tower. Yes the floors creaked but it is an old building, so nothing unusual there. Breakfast was a continental style buffet. One small point was they only provided butter, no low fat spread as an alternative. The hotel also provides free luggage storage if you have a late train/plane to catch. We would stay here again.

Then we saw the room, what can I say it was perfect and I only wish we had been able to spend more time in it!Four poster bed, plasma TV,massive shower, lovely decor, very clean! I read a few reviews prior to going by people complaining about the size?I dont know what they planned on doing in their rooms but our was just dandy, plenty of luggage space and wardrobe for clothes.Staff were extremely helpful with directions and very friendly, the breakfast in the morning was simple..your yoghurts, fruits, cereal etc as well as fruit juices and cold meat, cheese etc.All in I can safely say we were very happy customers and will most certainly return!

The service was very good, with the receptionist suggesting they keep our luggage after check out so we could enjoy the rest of our day without carrying bags. Felt the room was not as good as others presumably because it was booked through Late Rooms. Bedroom was warm and clean and ideal if not spending too much time in it. Bathroom did not have a heater and had an air vent which made it very cold. Shower had a big head which gave a good shower until the water went cold after 2 minutes! Finally, had not appreciated when booking that the hotel does not have an alcohol licence; a problem if you are looking for a night cap!

I booked this hotel as the location was perfect for the places in London we wanted to visit. The hotel was just 10 mins walk to the Underground (Queensway is the nearest Tube), we also caught the bus to Camden & Madame Tussauds. The stop was a 5 min walk and bus approx 20 mins. We were less than 10 mins from Portobello Rd. The surrounding area is very pleasant and there are several bars & restaurants near. The Hotel was very clean. We stayed in an executive double. The room was a little small & the bed was a queen (2 singles pushed together) which was ok but there was a slight gap between the beds! The room was cleaned daily. I requested a bathroom with a bath - which I got. Breakfast was basic, but ample & great value for the price of the hotel. The road outside the hotel was undergoing some engineering works, which was a shame as barriers were up, however this did not affect access to the hotel. The staff were pleasant and happy to advise / help regarding tubes / buses and the local area. I would stay at the New Linden again if I could get this price again. I have already recommended this hotel to friends who travel to London for business & pleasure as the location is great for the City.

My heart sank when I was told that my room (No 2) was in the basement. Stumbling in the dark through the basement corridor (energy saving lights decided not to come on) I entered the smallest closet / room I have ever encountered. The room is so small there is not enough space for a door between the bedroom and en suite. There is just a standard single bed with about 2 foot of space on 3 sides. The wardrobe was a rail 10 inches long with 3 coat hooks. When I lifted the blind in the room I found an open window looking onto a brick wall half a metre in front. The wall mounted Akura TV was of similar tiny proportions (about 10"). Unfortunately the colour had decided to up and leave the TV several years ago or perhaps had been leeched from the screen by the blinding 30 deg C heat of the radiator which could not be turned off. The TV remote had similarly given up the ghost with the 10 or so channels available being adjusted manually. Breakfast staff did not arrive until 7 a.m. for 7.30 a.m. so my early departure meant leaving with an empty stomach, along with my claustrophobia.

We had a lovely large clean room/suit which slept 4 people - it was AMAZING. Two single beds and a double bed in a split level room. There was also sitting area which can be converted into a couch. We were all very taken by the lovely room and the staff were very nice. The only niggle I had was the breakfast was not great. No hot choices i.e. fry up (which is very important after a night on the town!!) Just toast, cereals, fruit, cheese, meats etc. Also beware – they stop serving breakfast on the dot of 10 O Clock! But I have to say we have every intention on staying there again. We all slept well, did have to turn the rads off when we got to the room as it was boiling and we opened the windows which is nice to be able to do. The surrounding area (Notting Hill) was really nice and two minutes walk away. We returned from central London after catching an afternoon show and ate in a really good Lebanese restaurant close by which is one of the hundreds of restaurants available. This Hotel is excellent value for money. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone as long as you are not expecting a fried breakfast in the morning.

I chose the hotel as a xmas gift for my partner as part of a weekend break in London. I chose the hotel as it was classed as 4 star , looked modern on the internet and appeared to be a quality hotel. On arrival we were given a basement room which did concern me a little as I am quite claustrophobic. The furntiure and bathroom were of a very high standard but the room was smaller than my utility room at home, and only one person at a time could use the bedroom or bathroom to change. We did go to reception later and asked to be moved but they were fully booked and suggested we tried the next morning. I was disappointed as we have stayed at the Marriot Hotel Marble Arch for less money and the rooms were much bigger. What was disappointing was I stated at time of booking and in subsequent emails that this booking was for a special occasion and I had hoped that at least I would have been given the "best" hotel room for the price bracket booked.

Wow, i didn’t know there were two new linden hotels. Well, all these amazing reviews can’t possibly have been from the same hotel i stayed at... Upon arrival i was greeted to a deserted reception. Nearly 10 minutes later i was greeted by a completely uninterested member of staff. She checked me in and pointed me to the lift. The first thing i noticed about the lift was that the ‘down’ button had a piece of paper stuck over it saying ‘press up to go down’, certainly different. Then when the lift finally arrived there was a piece of paper stuck over the ‘4’ button and guess what, i my room was on the 4th floor. So i had to get the lift to the 3rd floor and then use the stairs. The corridors were like a sauna and i was sweating by the time i got to my room. The room itself was just as hot and about the size of a matchbox! I turned off the radiators and opened the windows the day i arrived and it was still too hot the day i left! The bed was boxed in on 3 sides so if there 2 people one would have to climb over the other. You couldn’t sit up in bed as there was a slopping wall behind it. The same sloping wall in the shower room meant the mirror was on a slope as well. This meant all you could see in the mirror was the top on your head. When trying to shave, i had to look up to see my face. I felt quite dizzy by the time i had finished. The shower was terrible and flooded the ‘wet room’. Surprisingly i slept ok in the bed. Breakfast? Don’t even ask! I even took a photo on my phone and sent it someone to see if they could identify what was on the plate, they couldn’t!!! Even though the breakfast was included in the price i stayed away and got a far better breakfast at mcdonalds! All in all, the whole experience was awful! I still can’t believe how this place gets such good reviews! And to top it off, recommended by condé nast johansens??? Well i'll remember to steer clear of any other hotels they recommend!

There is also no radio facility in the rooms on the tv or otherwise which I would expect from a hotel of this rating. Having said all that the bed was very comfortable, the shower and bath good and the staff polite. When I pointed out the problems it wa suggested I ask for an upgrade next time I stayed. Only complaints were that someone else's bags were in the room when we arrived but reception soon sorted that, and that the cleaners opened our door every morning even though we hadn't checked out. A bit noisy but that's because a family of 6 stayed at the same time so bit unfair.Overall good quality when you consider alternatives.

This is a real find, beautifully decorated, clean and warm, in a pleasant location, close to bus and tube routes. The cold buffet breakfast (included in the price) was generous, all the usuals with fresh fruit and various breads, croissants, toast, etc. in pleasant surroundings. (Andgood tea, I would add!)We did find our room somewhat 'bijou' (perhaps too kind as there was less than 2 sq m of floor space to stand in) but we were on a budget and it was fine for our two nights. The room facilities were nonetheless excellent. The draperies everywhere in the hotel were superb, heavy quality and very fashionable. We would definitely stay here again but maybe we would seek the next tier tariff if it were a longer stay.

When you book a single room you often get a poky room in the basement but this was spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and quiet, all the things you don't usually find in London. I got a warm and helpful welcome even though I arrived late in the night. The hotel is set in a quiet street in Bayswater with lovely restaurants close by. There are 2 tube stations in under 5 minutes walk and you are only 1 underground stop away from Paddington Station. Hyde Park is just on the doorstep.

Found very attractive New Linden after long internet search but it was worth it! Booked after reading positive reviews and ratings. Price of £85 per night for a double room represented good value (some may get it even cheaper). Our room had good updated fittings and was spacious and clean. I had requested not being in the basement. Although the breakfasts were continental and did not provide hot food (apart from toast, coffee etc), they were of good quality and enjoyable. However, the greatest strength of a very good hotel was the polite and extremely helpful staff. I would certainly try to book this hotel again.

Myself and a girlfriend travelled to London to see a Westend show and chose the New Linden for our overnight stay. We really enjoyed the show and staying at the New Linden totally enhanced the experience. James at reception was very pleasant and happy to answer the usual tourist questions. The room was spotless with ample space for the two of us. Loved the decor as well. Although breakfast was continental there was a good choice and we managed 5 hours shopping before we ate again!

Good quality quiet Hotel. Very clean throughout- which is the most important thing for any accommodation. The staff were all friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. They were happy to look after our bags prior to check-in which was wonderful as we arrived very early. On check-in we were given a choice of two rooms and both were of a good size and spotless. The breakfast was more than sufficient fresh continental buffet style. I will definately be recommending this Hotel to friends and family.

Upon entering, the entrance and meeting rooms were beautifully appointed. However, the romance of the place stops there. My room was tiny for a double, extremely stuffy, smelled of cigarettes, with mismatched decor, and inadequate closet/cupboard space. The breakfast is the worst I have experienced in a "4-star" hotel in Europe. That's the bad news. The good news is that its location is superb, on a quiet, tree-lined square, and the staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant ! By far, the nicest hotel staff I have encountered in London. This (and the affordable rate) balances the out disappointment in accommodation.

I had high hopes of this hotel and assumed I had grabbed a bargain from what looked like a large amount of money saved when I booked. I suppose considering it's central location and that it included breakfast it was very reasonably priced for London. However my room was certainly not on the website - nor in the brochure left in the room - something to do with lovely hotels round the world - as it really was very small. To save space they elected not to put a shower curtain or screen up making showering a stressful experience as I tried desperately not to turn the bathroom into a swimming pool. Also checking round the room before I left I found some bloke's Calvin Klein pants - black jockeys I think they were, curled up at the base of one of the curtains...nice!Breakfast was one of the most basic I have seen for sometime, poor selection of cereals and the 'fruit' was that fruit cocktail stuff you get out of a tin.Service could have been better, I had to wait 15 mins to check in because there was no one there who could help me. I was also asked to move to a small table for breakfast the first morning because I was travelling alone even though there was no shortage of space and all tables were small and laid for 2, I happened to sit at one apparently placed closer to another so 4 could sit at it. Re staying here again - possibly if breakfast were better.

The staff and customer service given were polite, friendly and welcoming. An upgrade to a small suite on arrival was lovely. The room was clean and attractively decorated in modern neutrals, with flat screen tv's etc. The en-suite bathroom was very attractive with large drench shower...however the shower tray and basin were a perfect example of design over-ruling function, both of which were so shallow that they overflowed within an instant! Breakfast was included, but we were disappointed that only continental breakfasts were on offer; it would have been more in keeping with the hotel quality to offer variety with good cooked breakfasts being available. The hotel is ideally suited for the West End and Notting Hill (Portobello Road market).
