This hotel was very clean and quite close...
This hotel was very clean and quite close to Paddington Rail & Underground Stations. The staff was quite helpful, even printed out our boarding passes. Lots of good not too expensive resteraunts in the area. The only down side was the breakfast, a full English Breakfast was (and still is in one place) was listed as included and this was one reason we chose this hotel; instead a good selection of cereal, hard cooked eggs and meat and cheese was offered.

The bedding needs a good dry clean. I know this is a low cost budget hotel, but do I really have to have put up with stained pillows and a bed cover with miscellaneous dirty patches? I don't live like that, so why should I pay for it? There are plenty more hotels on the same street to choose from....Thankfully at least the staff were kind and changed them. Breakfast is as cheap a quality you can get - organge squash, processed cheese. You really need to try harder to treat your clients better in a recession.

Customer service was fine the room was very clean. Was on 4th Floor and shower was weak cut off totally on two occassion when showering only had one shower. Also no soap or shampoo left in room however reception was able to provide these on request. Hotel central and breakfast fine if you like toast and cereal. Guess if you get room on lower floors you should be ok.
Hotel within 10 minute walk of marble arch and at reasonale cost

The hotel did not really reflect that of 4 * accomodation which is what it was advertised as. The room was disappointing in that there were no facilities to make tea/coffee and it was extremely small for a twin room, verging on pokey. I put a special request in for a nice view but instead was immediately facing the breakfast room whereby people could see in, if my curtain was not drawn. Lastly, breakfast was very limited, consisting of tea/coffee, toast and cereal and not much else. On the plus side, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

I thought that US staff would be rude in comparison to the English.
Yet this was not to be. I often had the sense that they were doing me a favour in speaking to me. Largely because I was drawing their attention away from the newspaper or MSN.
Never felt welcome and always felt an inconvienance.
Never stay there again.

Stay away from any room near the lift...
Stay away from any room near the lift shaft, we were woken at 4 am by a compressor operating!
Breakfast was toast, cheese, ham, with very cheap serials!
This is served until 09:30, be warned once 09:30 comes they turn the toaster off and start taking the food away, I realy felt sorry for a young lad that arrived at 09:25. They took the food away as he was trying to eat it! how ignorant. The food is not worth booking the hotel for you can get an english for 2.95 round the corner at a cafe.
What will stop me staying here again is the staff and poor attitude, espicially in the breakfast room, what a shame because if it was not for that we would have stayed agian as the room was pleasent and clean. Ohh the one member of staff who was quite pleasant was the man that booked us in when we arrived! just thought it was worth a mention

Budget Hotel. Do not expect any special ameneties. However, the staff was very helpful. They also loaned me an iron to press my clothes. However, the rooms are extremely small. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your hotel, this hotel is not for you. However, if you are looking for a good cheap hotel close to Paddington where you can sleep at night while seeing the sights during the day, this is an excellent fit.

Terrible hotel. Tiny, old fashioned (apparently refurbished) room. Rude receptionist wouldn't answer my question, which was: "Why have I paid LateRooms 75 for this room, when it's clearly marked here as a 65 room?". She ignored me and took the cash anyway! The Glass in my bathroom was really dirty, looked like it had some milk in it about 2 years ago that hadn't been washed away. I've stayed in a lot of rough hotels in Asia and Africa and this is in my top 5.

There are better budget hotels at the same price, personally although I haven't anything awful to say I didn't enjoy the stay and there was nothing about the hotel to make me want to stay there again. Breakfast wasn't very nice. On a positive note it's very convenient to paddington if this is important and the road isn't as busy as some in London. Check out process is manual and slow.

My wife and I have stayed elsewhere in...
My wife and I have stayed elsewhere in the Sussex Gardens area and this is now our preferred hotel. Situated on a fairly quiet street in a generally noisy neighborhood (near Paddington Station and St Mary's Hospital), we find its central location quite convenient. Although our room was small (but perhaps not by London standards), it was quite clean and reasonably well-appointed. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot, and the tiny bathroom squeezed in all the essentials. For we who spend most of our waking day away from the hotel room, this provided more than adequate accommodations. As for breakfast, it is plentiful and nourishing but quite plain. Wireless broadband is a nice touch (although there are internet cafes nearby), as is the lift. And if it matters to you, the manager is hardly the soul of affability but the rest of the staff is quite friendly. As London budget hotels go, this seems a solid choice.

Good location for Hyde park and plenty of local facilities. Staff were efficient and interested. Everything was very clean and gave the impression of a well-looked after hotel. Breakfast was basic continental and efficiently done. The room was a little small...just enough space to walk round the bed. It is odd for a hotel at this price not to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room, although these were available at the small hotel bar downstairs at reasonable prices. The inconvenience of this would make me look elsewhere next time.

The room has no Tea & Coffee making facility even though its stated on Late Rooms website!!! You leave your luggage at the left luggage room (located at their sister hotel 3 doors down) at your own risk! The hotel is clean, although I did find a small hair on the (supposed to be clean!) white towel! The good thing is, this hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Paddington, Marylebone and Lancaster Gate tubes/stations.

Convenient for Paddington Station and Hyde Park. Inviting exterior in a very pleasant road full of small hotels. Entrance hall small but fine. Room was clean, smallish but adequate for a short stay. Bathroom well equipped but small. Breakfast was included and was served in a bright modern room and was simple but OK. The price through laterooms was half the rack rate which probably reflected the value but we would recommend the hotel on this basis.

I have been coming to London from the US for many years. I always stay at the Nayland because it is pleasant, well located, and really good value for money. It is very convenient to a good Tube stop and Paddington Station (Heathrow Express). It has a lift (an exception among budget hotels). The recent remodeling is really great. Yes, the rooms are small but I don't go to London to sit in my room. It is quite adquate for sleeping and showering/shaving. The breakfast room works OK if you will settle for dry cereal, toast, and coffee or tea. There are lots of places to eat nearby, espccially for lunch or supper.

Many guests being found alternative accommodation after hotel being over booked - some people still waiting at 23:00 after arriving at 15:00.

VERY small rooms.
Didn't even risk breakfast.
