The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. Our bedroom was very nice and traditionally decorated everything was clean and bright and very comfortable.Unfortunately we could not use some of the public rooms, conservatory and the garden on the Saturday as there was a wedding reception in the hotel. This was a bit of a shame because the staff had said earlier, when I had telephoned to enquire, that when my son and family (including a toddler) came to meet us we could let my grandson have a run around the garden and we could enjoy a coffee together in the conservatory. The hotel is very handy for the British Museum and not far from the tube.

Stayed for two nights at this Hotel. Room on the small side but I think that's usual for London. Service at this Hotel was excellent, very attentive staff. Booked through Laterooms and found we also has a choice of Free bottle of Chapagne, Tickets for British Museum or pre theatre meal. We opted for the latter which was excellent.Pricey Hotel but well worth it for a treat.

As always the staff are very courteous and friendly. Service is first class. The room itself was smaller than expected but satisfactory. A few drawers for clothing within the wardrobe would have helped.Food and drinks were on the expensive side but perhaps not unexpected for London.Would happily recommend for a short break in a very convenient and pleasent location.

Had a great stay in this hotel. Went to London for my birthday weekend, and the hotel was great. The staff were very helpful. Our room on arrival was very small so we said to reception and we were moved to a far bigger room for the rest of our stay, all done without any quibble! The conceirge also arrange dinner at the oxo tower on the saturday night. Nice touch to have a turn down service and little chocolate eggs left on your pillow for easter! Also a ballon and chocolates and biscuits in the room for my birthday. Hotel is within easy reach of covent garden and russell square underground and just round the corner from the Britsih Museum.

Traditional hotel with excellent service from very friendly staff. Rooms small but very comfortable. My only complaint would be that during our stay there was a good deal of noise from cleaners and workmen on our corridor, which did mean that we couldn't enjoy a lie-in or nap at all.

This was my second stay and the reason I cam back was the staff: nothing is too much trouble and the staff are very attentive, but not over the top. They say you get what you pay for, but sometimes you pay over the odds and feel out of place. This is certainly not he case at the Montague on the Gardens. You feel very looked after, but comfortable and don't leave feeling ripped off. Will definatley stay again

It was my partners 40th birthday and wanted to treat her to a night away in london with theatre trip. the hotel was lovely great service but the bedroom even thou it was nicely decorated was very small and cramped and didn,t have high ceilings as late rooms described and at £217 was definitely over priced.

We stayed here to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday. I cannot fault the hotel. The service, cleanliness, food, and general ambience was outstanding. The afternoon tea was out of this world. I loved the whole experience as did all the family. It made the occasion memorable. We are booking again for an Autumn break. It was absolutely wonderful.I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It has the 'wow' factor.

6 star service with a bargain offer.Good central location beside British Museum.Russell Sqare tube across the park.Sumptous decor and attention to detail right down to the free newspaper hung in a bag on your door with a sticker giving the weather that morning. The staff all genuinely pleased to help and polite.Excellent breakfast and afternnon tea at a new level of excellence with leaf tea choices, patiiserie, scones and sandwiches in the garden room. The bar and snacks was also first class with a talented piano player to amuse you.The room decor was first class.Plenty of hot water and robes to pamper.Sweets on the bed and a turn down service in the evening. Our room on the smaller side double but not really an issue and upgrades available. The room was quiet with triple glazing. The only down side of all this quality and service is that everyone will book the place out now and I wont get a late rooms bargain next time! No hesitaion in recomendation for a middle aged profesional couple though who appreciate detail and quality over noise and vulgarity. Not sure it would be the best choice with young children.

Our initial room was perfect in every way apart from a noisy air con unit outside the window. When my husband asked reception about this they took him to two more rooms, so we could choose an alternative. The room we stayed in was decorated to a very high standard and was very clean. We had breakfast in bed, which was a high standard. This hotel is a jewel in Londons crown. No matter what staff member we encountered, from manager to domestic staff, they all had a high level of customer service and always had a smile. A truely wonderful, precious night away.

Apart from our room everything about this hotel was good to excellent. There were more staff than you can shake a stick at & all were well-trained, thoroughly professional & super friendly. Afternoon tea & breakfast were good. But oh that room! Do they save these for laterooms customers I wonder? It was quite the smallest hotel room we have stayed in anywhere in the world with quite the smallest bed (we guess it was 4 ft max.) and we both spent an uncomfortable night fighting for space. I suppose it would be OK if you were visiting with a mistress or a lover when sleep would not be a priority but, if we were to visit again, we would book two rooms. I should perhaps add that we are both below average size!

The Montague on the Gardens is a lovely hotel. I do have to say that I had hoped that for the money, our room would have been larger but I think it's just a case of it being in central London. Small negative over with - the room was spotless, nicely decorated, view over the gardens and had every pleasant convenience - toiletries, ironing facilities, coffee, TV, turn-down, evening chocs/biscuits etc. The staff couldn't be more helpful and are polite, friendly and take care in what they do and about where the work - apparent in the overall calm, clean, quiet and personable environment. Thank you - we had a lovely stay and would recommend you! Caroline - Edinburgh, Scotland (not England!)

We would definately recommend this lovely hotel, right next door to the British Museum, a short walk to Covent Garden/Soho, we even walked down to and across the Thames to the Globe theatre (about 40 mins). The room was higher than it was wide but non the less very plush and arrived to a Birthday treat for my wife, ( pre-requested but not guaranteed) An extensive wine and champagne list, which we most definately had to try, affraid we cannot comment on the food as we ate out but wouldn't see any reason for it not being first class.
