The staff were genuinely welcoming and wanted to please. We had a swanky room, which was of good size plenty of space and everything you could want. There is no lift and the stairecase is a bit drab and therefeore sets expectations low, the room is therefore a pleasant surprise. Continental breakfast included scrambled or boiled egg - full English is not an option. The chairs in the breakfast room are "easy" chairs as opposed to dining chairs, this means that you sit almost with your nose on the plate which is not the best. It was great for a small hotel and full of character, but I have had much better value for money (and style) in larger hotels nearby.
Summary
Have been staying there a couple of time, big rooms are much nicer thank the cheaper ones.
Summary
Very helpful and friendly staff, upgraded to a bigger room for free, lovely room and bathroom, great value for money (reduction in advertised price with LateRooms.com) in a top location - less than 10 mins walk to Marylebone High Street and Oxford Street. Would def recommend and def stay again!!
Summary
I really like the atmosphere here. This time we ended up in a really small room which was too tiny for two people. But still very comfy and nice place to stay.
Summary
The hotel staff were very friendly but the fact that we were given a room 3 in the basement below the kitchen was a bit of a downer. When the kitchen started to get busy early in the morning the noise was enough to wake you up. The decor was a bit tired. Shower very powerful but would have been a problem for anyone over 5 foot 9 as ceiling in bathroom low. Nice Moulton Brown toiletries. Not enough teabags and no complimentary biscuits. Nice cafetiere coffee though
Summary
This hotel is so centrally located (right in the heart of Marylebone, on Gloucester Place). The folks running the hotel have thought of everything, are so nice, and make the entire stay so convenient. We stayed 1 night, left for 4 nights for another city, and then stayed for 1 more night. For those 4 nights, the hotel allowed us to leave luggage with them! In addition, upon our return, they let us check in at 11am. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!
Summary
Absolutely fabulous hotel. Accomodation excellent. Service warm and friendly - first time to be experienced in London. Will definately stay again.
Summary
The receptionist couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, walking us to our rooms, explaining the room and breakfast details and giving great advice on local restaurants.
The room and bathroom were clean and very comfortable and included nice touches like Molton Brown soaps and very soft towels. The room (a double) was also a good size for central London.
And as the hotel is not on a busy road and overlooked a Mews to the rear, it was very quiet.
My only gripe was that, whilst the sheets were extremely clean (and the pillows very comfortable), the bed cover was soiled and marked and look like it need a really good clean.
That said, if I could get it again at the same rate (£115 double for single occupancy) I would definitely stay there again.
Like somebody wrote earlier, i almost never leave reviews but i have to make an exception.
The staff at Montagu Place Hotel are wonderful!
We were supposed to stay 16/12-19/12 but because of delays (big freeze) we stayed 17/12-22/12. Allthough being stuck away from home this close to christmas was quite stressful, the staff made us feel very relaxed. They were very attentive and interested in making our stay as good as possible.
This being such a small hotel you get a personal connection with the staff, which in turn makes the stay that more comfortable. Its a 5-10min walk to oxford street and got some good restaurants in the neighbourhood for ex. il baretto (nice italian restaurant).
I highly recommend staying here!
From early arrival to check out I had a great time here. The staff are very welcoming and attentive, the room was excellent and the breakfast great. Location is a 10-min walk from Baker St tube, further to Marble Arch. I have not tried many boutique hotels - not sure what I'd get but previous reviews of this one were so good I just had to try. I can happily recommend it to you and will certainly be staying here again.
Summary
Beautiful hotel, good facilities, lovely staff and gorgeous room! We originally booked this hotel because it was the cheapest one we could find at a day's notice in central London that didn't have a two-night minimum, but I'm SO glad we did! For whatever reason, we received a free upgrade to the most swanky room where the bed was ludicrously wide and the ensuite had a massive roll-top bath and walk-in shower. The towels were thick and luxurious and there was an array of Molton Brown toiletries. Plus, it was easy to adjust the temperature in the room which we found very useful. As someone who sleeps on my front, the only aspect that wasn't perfect was that the pillows weren't feather, but as I was staying here as a couple it didn't really matter in the same way as if I'd been by myself.
Summary
Excellent hotel. Rooms were small but comfortable. Staff was exceedingly friendly. Somewhat confusing to find for a new traveller to London.
Summary
Nice hotel, lovely room and very friendsly staff who were very accomodating.
Breakfast could have had more choice of hot food available, brighter lightening required in bathroom for the mirror.
As it was a double room, maybe two armchairs so we both could sit down and relax instead of just one
My wife and I stayed at this townhouse hotel (made from joining 2 townhouses together) at the end of July 2010. We had one of the 'fancy' rooms (their description, not mine) for £160, booking on the morning we were due to stay over. First impression were great, with very attentive check-in staff and a quick transition up to the room (they offered to carry our bags). I had asked for a room on a high floor and got it. Room was a decent size, particularly for central London, and very well decorated and laid out. Comfy bed (although, could do with some much better pillows), flat screen TV, room service (prompt and friendly) and a decent, if not small, bathroom (those who have said it is very dimly lit, this is because they are energy efficient bulbs which take about a minute to get up to full power - probably not ideal in a bathroom, but think of the trees...). Breakfast was a mix of breads, cold meats and cheeses. The only warm option was eggs. which they will cook to order. Overall, very good, but only on the price I got on laterooms and not for the rack rate, which I think is around £250 for a fancy room.
Great place.
