Miller's Residence is a small luxury hotel in Notting Hill that is styled on an 18th-century rooming house. It is the essence of bohemian cool and very much a welcoming private residence; more like staying with grand, decadent friends at their overstuffed English country house. Owned by Martin Miller of Miller's antique guide, it is a veritable aladdin's cave of treasures: rococo cherubs, statues of goddesses, huge gilt thrones, mirrors, candleabras, rich rugs and damasks, oil paintings and carriage clocks. The scale of the inventory is breathtaking. You could skip the British Museum and just lounge here all afternoon and still manage not to take everything in.
