This is a somewhat quot trendy quot hotel...
This is a somewhat "trendy" hotel and at the time of stay a number of fashion models seemed to be around the place. Nice to look at but unfortunately as they do not eat, they cannot hold their drink as some very loud model ladies in the bar didn't know how to speak quietly or without effing and blinding very loudly. The bar is the Met Bar which in the early hours of the morning may be a trendy club, but in early evening just looks like a tacky club without enough people in it. The bedroom on the 8th floor may have a park view but it is not worth looking at. The decor of the room is no better than a Travelodge and the last time I stayed in a hotel with a shower curtain, it was a Travelodge! This bathroom was awful - small, poky and a shower curtain over the bath! The guests next door playing their iPod tunes on the Bose unit provided in the room at a ridiculous noise level in the early hours of the morning provoked a number of calls to the duty manager. When the music finally went off, the conversation of the guests next door made interesting listening, but not at 3.30am on a Sunday morning. The only redeeming feature of this hotel is the staff. Everyone, on the reception, to the concierge and Met bar staff were incredibly polite, happy and helpful. They were all ready to engage in conversation and discussion without it ever seeming to be too much trouble. Breakfast is nothing special and in a rather unpleaseant windowless side room to the Nobu restaurant. Unless the Metropolitan give their staff a raise, rip out the decor - especially the bathroom and stop imitating a Travelodge, stay somewhere else!

A superb hotel with some of the very best, friendliest and helpful staff i have experienced anywhere, 5 mins walk to harvey nicks, 30 secs from the park and with the Met bar (brilliant mixologists) and Nobu (10/10 restaurant) all in one building, will not be my last visit.
