Good accommodation, disastrous food/service in three so-called ''restaurants'.

This Hotel itself is of good quality with attentive staff and good rooms. My main complaint is that unfortunately, the hotel's boast of multiple dining options is a bad joke. 'The Place' offered, for the entire week.of our stay, a mystifying experiment in cold Italian food (including the sad carcass of a suckling pig) and nothing else. The other two supposedly 'international' dining options, 'Longford's' (a lounge bar) and the 'Albufera' (a banqueting room) are simply not viable for restaurant purposes. The only real option was to dine out! Verdict: not bad for B&B, but pretensions to extensive restaurant options, let alone 'fine dining' and 'dress codes', ought to be dropped from the publicity.

Friendly staff and attentive personal service were the hallmarks of this hotel. Our room was also upgraded on arrival and was of a very good standard. The only negative was the lift system which meant that during busy periods the wait for a lift was far too long. A lot of people chose the stairs over the wait. Not much fun if you're on the fifth floor!

Fantastic room for the late rooms price, not sure I would ever pay full price. Only gripe is how a 4* hotel can still have a wall mounted hair dryer that looks like a 70's hoover.

City break stay

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff quickly changed room when it was not as we had booked - we booked a twin and initial room was a double. Concierge was very helpful when we left our cases after checking out and going shopping on the last day. We only stayed one night and did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food.

Acceptable but not brilliant

On the plus side, the hotel is easy to find from Great Portland Street tube and is in a quiet area. The accomodation is clean and the staff are friendly enough. We had a junior suite for the three of us and the space available in the room was adequate. The shower was good, but the bathroom was on the small side. The food is excellent, beautifully presented and delicious. The level lounge experience is very good. On the minus side, check in was supposed to be at 3.00pm but the room was not ready until 6.00pm, the wait after travelling so far was very upsetting, we were tired and wanted a shower and a rest, but had to wait in the lounge. We were not the only ones having to wait that length of time, two other families were sitting unhappily in the lounge waiting for their rooms to be ready. This part of our stay was, in our opinion, not the standard which is expected of a four star London Hotel.

Good service, great location

This was my third visit to the Melia White House. As always I really enjoyed my stay. I think that the level of service is what makes the stay.
When we arrived at our junior suite, we found a strong smell of paint in the room, and paint on the carpet. We were immediately moved to another suite. I have to say that you ought to change your decorators, as we found paint on the muslin drapes, the doors and door frames in our new suite.

A fantastic hotel in the heart of London

I stayed at the Melia hotel last month as I was attending a workshop with colleagues. I booked this hotel at the last minute, not really knowing what to expect and hoping for the best... What a wonderful surprised! You are greated on arrival, the staff at reception is pleasant, polite and efficient. The standard room was spacious, nicely furnished, clean and quiet despite being in the heart of London. The hotel has two restaurants: one providing a buffet with all things Spanish, and another one for a finer dining experience. We ate at the buffet one with my colleague: everything was great, simple but nice quality - from spanish hams and cheeses to tapas to salads, paella and desserts. I did not have the chance to try the 2nd restaurant. The breakfast in the morning was not included, but I am very glad I paid the extra cost - as the buffet the night before, it was very nice. Overall, I had a great experience and cannot wait for an excuse to go back.

Good value night out in London

The White House represented good value for London, especially as there was a discount operating at the time. We stayed there as part of my birthday celebration weekend and the hotel very thoughtfully provided a bottle of Cava free of charge in recognition of this. There was a bit of a mix up when my partner turned up to check in and a misunderstanding at the bar where my request for a glass of tap water was not understood by the barman - hence the 5 rating as opposed to 6. Both of these incidents were caused, I believe,as a result of not being very conversant with English which is surprising for an international hotel. However the room was very clean, good quality bedding, powerful shower and good shower accessories, so a very good experience overall.

Fab hotel but shame about the breakfast experience

I expected a relaxed and wholesome breakfast experience but what I received was a long wait to be seated followed by a move to another room where further waiting in line and then to be seated without any tea or coffee support which I eventually had to beg for and finally below average food.

Great hotel - bit pricey - but you do get value for your money. Tube (Gt Portland Street) across the road very handy.
LateRooms.com booking at £318 for two nights didn't save much over the a late booking direct to the hotel - £334 - just £16.

Great location, poor customer service and out of date

The lobby is lovely , but don't be fooled . The rooms are old fashioned as is the general decor of the hotel . The customer service is poor, waiting to check in and out takes too long. Also the attitude of some staff is poor .
The location is fantastic , this is really the only good point of the hotel .

Quality Accommodation in a Very Attractive Location

Quality - yes, most certainly, everything well presented and in good condition. Location - great, adjacent to Regents Park, a short walk from Mainline train stations and across the road from the Tube station. However, the check-in/out process was inexplicably slow not helped by the staff constantly taking calls instead of promptly dealing with live customers. My standard double room was incredibly narrow with only a 30 cm gap between the bed and the wall to squeeze past, and a a narrow galley-style bathroom with only half a bath. OK for one night though.

This hotel is a little gem, excellently located within a stones throw Great Portland Street Tube Station and Regents Park. When I returned home I told everyone how good the hotel was.
