I was in London for a 3 day course and needed a central hotel, close to a tube station that would allow me access to the centre. As I was travelling alone, I opted for a 'single' room, it was quite compact (small) but I had everything that I needed including a 4 foot single bed, desk and en-suite shower/sink/toilet.
There was a trouser press in the room which I thought took up valuable space in the room (how many folk actually use these nowadays?).
An ironing board and iron was available on request from the reception and I really did struggle ironing shirts in the room as I had to kneel on the bed to make space for the ironing board.
Breakfast was a continental affair, a nice selection of cereals, pastries, cheeses and salad, not being a big breakfast person, this suited my requirements exactly.
Overall, I would rate this hotel quite highly, the room was small but I guess you get what you pay for these days, I could have opted for a double room but as I was alone, I just wanted a room with a lock on the door and a shower.
