The staff were all friendly and polite, and the room was clean. However, they are the only positive things i can say about it. I think we may have been given the worst room in the hotel, due to the fact that we booked on late rooms. It was tiny, and there was no sign of the sumptuous furnishings as advertised on the website. The room was very warm at night (radiator was turned off by us as soon as we arrived!), so on the first night we had the window open. But with the hotel being so close to the tube, there's no chance of you getting a good nights sleep. We could hear most of our neighbours, not that they were noisy, but whenever they closed their doors you could feel the room shake(nobody seems able to close a door without letting it slam shut any more). It sounded as if they were coming into your room. The towels were grey and hard. They skimp on the tea making facilities in the room too. We were given 4 little pots of milk (you need at least 2 for a coffee), and they weren't replenished, so we ended up having to drink black tea the next day. Breakfast was continental (croissants, ham, cheese, cucumber, fruit and some cereals and toast). A cooked breakfast would have been nice. The tea was awful; they had better quality tea in the room(tetley). All in all, i would not return and i certainly would never dream of paying full price. The least they could do is cook you breakfast if you're paying all that money. Do yourself a favour and pay the extra £10/20 a night for a better place to spend the night.i could only recommend this to somebody who sleeps like a horse; doesnt mind noisy neighbours and isnt bothered about breakfast...if all you need is a place to sleep..then fine...otherwise look elsewhere!

This is the second time we've stayed here and yet again it was superb. Great value for money, decent sized rooms (it is london remember), clean. The staf were very, very helpul and also allowed us to leave our luggage with them after checking out, so that we didn't have to cart it round london all day. The continental breakfast was also very good and had a great range of cereals, toast, crosiants, drinks, etc, etc.We won't hesistate in staying there again, on any future occasions we visit london.

I was really impressed with the Mayflower - very close to the tube and restaurants - a great base! We were on the top floor so a bit of a hike with the suitcases! We were squished in the corner at breakfast but after asking if we could move, the staff were more than happy for this to happen.

A nice enough hotel. Public areas are much better kept than the rooms (or at least than mine). TV didn't work properly, which was partially fixed while I was out, but still didn't work adequately to watch even terrestrial news channel (e.g. BBC1). Room adequate, if cramped. Shower needed a good clean. Overall a good, cheap hotel close to all the attractions, so good value.

Good stay and location. The staff went out of their way to check me in early. The rooms were nice for singles, but could of been a bit larger. The bathroom and shower were very clean and nicely designed. I don't know if it was a 4 star but it was definitely focused on customer care and comfort.

The location is great less than 5 mins walk from Earl's Court station. Dump you bags and you can be back on the main road within minutes. So pubs/restaurants and conveneince shops (Somerfield) all open late to catch a beer and a bite.Room I had was OK but very cramped. Shower looked great but was too narrow to fit me in comfortably and get wet! The corridors are dark and a bit claustrophobic, but the reception and hotel front looks great. Good attentive service from the receptionists and to be fair the room was sqeaky clean, if too cramped. Desk so small worked on my lap on the bed. Wifi connection slow. Whilst this is slightly more convenenient and closer to the tube, I prefer the sister hotel at 20 Neven Square which is another 2-3 mins walk away.

Great hotel for business travellers too, great breakfast, great staff. 2 mins from Earls Court. I travel a lot and I had a fab deal from late rooms and saved about 50% I think. Room was clean, modern and the chaimbermaid even helped me with my bags. I felt the staff all wanted to go the extra mile (rare in london unless 5 star!) Cute little 4* hotel that I will DEFINATELY go back to. Whoever owns it should be proud of their team (and I do a lot in hospitality!) Well done to the receptionists, bell boy, chaimbermaid and especially the very friendly chappy who served us breakfast with a smile and super efficiency. I managed to get my toast stuck in the toaster and he not only tried to get it out but unplugged the toaster and brought a new one in and delivered my toast 3 mins later. THATS WHAT I CALL SERVICE!!! Hurrah!

I was a little sceptical about the Hotel after reading previous comments but, the criticism proved unfounded! The staff were so friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in until the second I left. My basement room was very well maintained and spotlessly clean and plenty big enough! Breakfast was good unlike other continental breakfasts at many other Hotels I have stayed at! I would recommend this Hotel to anyone visiting the Capital and for more romantic breaks or special occasions take one of the Apartments! Can not speak highly enough of the place!

I had a double room which is probably the smallest double room I have stayed in! From the outside the hotel looks very grand and the reception area is quite impressive. But its all downhill from there. The lift is small, the room is small and so is the bathroom. Luckily I was staying on my own as I dont think we could have managed with 2 of us in the room. There may be bigger rooms in the hotel and it could be because I booked thru laterooms that I was given a smaller room. I would not stay there again or recommend it because of this. However the staff were fine and the room was clean and they served a decent continental breakfast.

We were excited on arrival that we had an upgrade! We were not convinced it was one to be honest. The room was in the basement and the view was on to a shabby backyard, which had paintpots in the shed and an empty take away cup and cigarette packet on the step. The room however was quite nice and roomy with a comfortable 4 post bed. The room smelled strange, some kind of exhaust fumes or plastic of some sort. We were unable to change the room since we asked to change it too late in the day. Personally we think it was the heating since it stopped to smell when we turned it down. The bathroom was shabby and the decorative scatter cushion on the bed were not fresh. We were a bit dissapointed in the lack of detail and shabbyness, I would have liked to have seen the other rooms. It looked more impressive on the pictures! We liked the fact however that it was so central to the tube etc but we would not stay there again!

Sadly, bulb blew again in morning. Breakfast was continental style only. I paid £55 for the night which I felt was good value for London but the website description raises expectations of a better quality hotel. Cheep and cheerful. Would only recommend to someone not too worried about luxury comforts or space but looking for a low cost clean hotel.

The hotel was in a good location and very easy to find, looked really nice on the outside and the reception was really nice. We took the lift up to our room as we had bags with us but it was very compact not really big enough for two people with bags, glad that we only had one bag each otherwise we would not have been able to fit. The room was ok but I think it should have been a single room not a twin, as it was really small, the width of the room was the same side as a king sized bed. Other than the room being small it was very clean and the bathroom was as well. The only problems that we had was the tv went off a few times and there was no door or curtain on the shower so water went all over the floor. The price that we paid for the room was ok but I would not have paid the original price for the room!

We got a room in the top floor (42). The room was basically as big as a big suitcase. It fitted the bed and a desk. It was quite dirty, long hairs in the bed and bath room. The bed was so hard and so was the pillows. My girlfirend looked at me in the morning and said "this is the worst hotel ever"... Besides the absolutely horrible bed and pillows, the subway was right next to the hotel, and with no air-con we had to have the wondow open. The tube ended at 0030 and started up 0530... Not that we got to exploit the hours in between. When the coupoe next door opened their door it sounded like people were walking into our room. The rooms waere just cramped together. The pillows were so darn hard.. like solid bricks.. can't tell you how much pain I had in he neck and the back after staying there...So to sum up the experience. I was looking forward to my stay when the friend I was due to be staying with got diagnosed with Swine Flu. As soon as they'd informed me, I called LateRooms and then was advised to call The Mayflower directly. I was told that I was an hour too late to cancel the room and that they were not willing to make an exception in these circumstances. In fact the lady I spoke to was rude and sarcastic and informed me that if I still wanted to bring my friend it didn't matter to them because they had all been vaccinated again Swine flu! I haven't and was not willing to take that risk! The lady then put me on to her manager who also said that they were not willing to waive the fee in any circumstances. I was due to arrive at the hotel 2 days later with a check in time of approx 8pm and so to attempt to cancel 2 days before at around 12pm I thought was reasonable but apparently was an hour or so too late and that they would take payment for the room from my card anyway. Most hotels have a stipulation that cancellation needs to be made 24 hours before and I was certainly within this time. I understand that there are policies within your organisation but surely this can be flexible in special circumstances that are unavoidable. I think that this is disgraceful customer service and cannot believe that in particular circumstances there it no willingness to be flexible with policies. If it were me that had had the diagnosis then I would of course provide a medical certificate to that effect but as it was a friend of mine this is out of my hands. I was looking forward to my stay and not only did I have the disappointment of not being able to stay at the hotel, I got charged in full for the room and breakfast. Great advert for your hotel and I won't hesitate in telling people how you were not willing budge an inch on this. You have my details on your records should you wish to contact me.Cathy O'Connor

I was deceived into booking into the Mayflower...
I was deceived into booking into the Mayflower Hotel by an outrageously flattering website and recommendation from Condé Nast. What appeared to be an excellent rate for a spacious, well equipped room was in fact a poor deal on the smallest hotel room I've ever set eyes on. The apparently slightly-below-standard-sized double bed reached from the partition separating the sink (in the bedroom, not the bathroom) to the far end of the room, with a very narrow channel separating the only accessible side of the bed from the poorly built, shallow, inadequate wardrobe. The shoe-box feel of the room was compounded by the angled wall at the foot of the bed.Dissatisfied with the room, we were, reluctantly offered another which was marginally bigger - the bed was in this room was only against one wall(!) The usable size of the room (including the bed which felt smaller than a standard double) was roughly 7' square - smaller than some hotel bathrooms! Again, the quality of the furniture was very poor, the blind was torn and frayed along the length of one side. The bathroom was basic, and not well cleaned which may have contributed to the slight unpleasant smell. The noise from the road is almost unbearable, but is marginally more palatable than the shrieking caged birds in the 'juice bar'.Breakfast is included, but isn't a saving grace for this terrible hotel. A small selection of unidentified cereals, foul tea and coffee, and artificial-tasting unidentifed juice was topped only by the croissants which gave the impression they were baked a week previously. I didn't pluck up the courage to try the plates of two very-cheap looking processed meats or dry cheese. Cereal with milk had been spilled on the floor of the breakfast room before we reached it, and was still unattended when we had finished. The staff are less than enthusiastic, an appropriate reflection of the hotel. The hotel's website is entirely misleading, using words such as "spacious comfort", "luxury", "state-of-the-art" and "elegant" to describe what would be a step down from the average student halls of residence.

I arrived at the hotel late at night/early morning and so, just wanted to get to a comfortable room and sleep. The room on first impression seemed nice, however on closer inspection was dirty and the door to the mini balcony was left open so insects were gathering inside the room. When I tried to close the balcony door, it didn't fit the frame correctly and so couldn't close properly.Once I had managed to close the door I turned on a lamp next to the bed and the whole electrics blew in the room and I was left waiting for quite some time before anyone came to try and fix this. When someone did, it was found that it couldn't be fixed that night and I would need to move rooms. I did stress I was unhappy with the room but I was told basically 'you get what you pay for'. Even thought I have been inconvenienced by these issues in the room and it was now 3am, the person on reception 'trying' to fix the electrics refused to even give me a better room for the evening and instead I was bundled into a tiny room in the basement with a tv on the top of the wardrobe. It was horrendous. The next evening when I retuned to the original room it was then found that the tv would not work and there were sparks coming from the plug. Again I told reception who promised to have this fixed for the following evening. Which they did, however the tv did the exact same thing again. I didn't feel I should mention it again as I was so fed up with the hotel.I left with the impression my custom was not important to them and so I felt compelled to write a very honest review of the hotel in order to warn any other fellow travellers looking for a comfortable room in the city.Don't stay there.

The hotel itself is perfectly situated for Earls Court exhibition centre. Situated overlooking Earls Court tube station, you may think the trains would disturb, but this is not the case. The hotel staff are excellent and attentive and do their best to help their guests get the most from their stay.I was, however, disappointed with the accomodation, not because of the cleanliness, nor the quality of the furnishings and bathroom which are very nice indeed, but the size of the room left much to be desired. I booked an executive double as my wife was joining me for one of the four nights of my stay. The room was just big enough for the bed their being little space to walk round to access the wardrome, window or the far side of the bed. The wall mounted tv was in the way and showed the signs of having been struck by guests as they tried to pass it when walking round the bed, I know I did almost every day. There was no table provided for the kettle and tea tray nor a dedicated electric socket to plug it in. As my stay was primarily for business, I wanted to be able to work in my room, but this was impossible due to the lack of a table. Electric sockets were in short supply too. I had to utilise my suitcase as an impromptue table for the kettle. In short, I would suggest this room (#8) was anything but an executive double, however, had it been a single bedded room, then there would have been room for a table/desk. Thus to work I needed to use the guest lounge which is OK, but not so good for concentration. Had I been able to work in my room, then I would have rated the accomodation higher as other than this important point I was very comfortable and unaware of any other guests.

We've stayed in 2 of the 3 hotels in Trebovir Road, Earls Court (other was the Trebovir H)Location was the prime reason for our choice - proximity to Earls Court underground station (3 mins walk) - excellent transport connections, and step-free (lifts and ramps make it easy for people with heavy rolling luggage, push chairs, wheelchairs etc.).Mayflower bedrooms are rather small, but ours was nice. Overlooked the station but good double glazing meant no noise pollution. Good wardrobe space. Nicely tiled bathroom was rather small, but functional: lack of ventilation was a problem, and the shower was a bit weak.Room had no A/C, but a very effective ceiling fan. General room lighting was a inadequate, but there were useful lamps. Worst point was the TV - poor selection of programmes, no Pay TV, poor picture quality.Good breakfast (continental free, with payable extras), better than the neighbouring Trebovir Hotel.

A good quality boutique-style hotel. The room was a little small but perfectly OK and clean. The bathroom was very good and obviously recently installed with an excellent shower. The public areas were well appointed and very pleasant, although if using the stairs be careful of some tricky steps. There were also a few unexpected steps when moving from the lift to the room that could cause problems for the elderly or less mobile. Breakfast was a continental buffet, which was fine with a fair selection of items. Compared to other "boutique" hotels in the area, this is far better and definitely better value for money.
