"
Upon arrival the staff were extremely friendly. The rooms were very nice, although we couldn't get used to our air conditioning system! So..." Emma B,Mar 12
You'll first see the bustle of the concierge outside The May Fair Hotel on Stratton Street in the famously upmarket Mayfair area of central London, just on the corner of Green Park. As near to Berkeley Square as it close to the Burlington Arcade, The May Fair is a stroll to Buckingham Palace, Green Park, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
Hotels-London Fact: Be one-up with your friends when you tell them to note the space in between 'May Fair' where history states the building cannot be referred to as The MayFair.
What To Expect
The only worry you'll have when arriving at The May Fair is being mistaken as a celebrity. Renowned General Manager Andrew Lee has created a discreet 5* haven for Grade A actors, politicians, TV stars and musicians. Ducking from your car or cab into the refuge of lobby, the friendly concierge will guide you from the bustle of the West End. He will be your best friend before you know it, the man who will be your London guide during your stay.
Originally sanctioned by King George V, the hotel has radically changed from 1927 with a contemporary ambience and style. Twinkly downlights compete with vast chandeliers, whilst marble floors and subtle down lighters guide you towards your en suite accommodation, with random pieces of dramatic furniture in pinks and purples dotted throughout.
Choose from one of 400 luxury doubles and suites, sized from 28sqm-33sqm each with hi-tech Vi-Sprung mattresses and triple glazing to shield you from the Mayfair hubbub to ensure you a good night' sleep.
The Sicilian marble continues throughout the bathroom which is complete with power shower, and in some rooms a generous bath with luxury toiletries. Bang & Olufsen digital systems for television and entertainment mean you are always up to date with the latest news, events, music and May Fair features and facilities. Being in the centre of medialand, the hotel also houses a stunning 201-seater theatre, home to many glamorous events . Mayfair Bar has a spectacular array of vivid blues, violets and yellow fabrics and serves a variety of delicious cocktails alongside a well considered selection of wines and champagnes, beers and ales.
The recently refurbished Quince restaurant is a real respite from the London buzz with comfy leather armchairs, delicate glassware and simple place settings overlooked by a cream latticed ceiling and a myriad of green and blue mosaic tiles. The brigade of chefs in crisp smart whites are headed up by Chef Patron Silvena Rowe and can be seen in the open kitchen preparing ingredients for the Eastern Mediterranean menu options. Entrees can be as simple as Poussin at a reasonable £14.50 to Sea Bass at £25 per person all flavoured in eastern taste.
The final indulgence is the Mayfair Spa. Great for both men and women (no excuse boys), the 'menu' of treatments covers everything from facials to mucho man, from manicures to cleansing rituals. Go on, you deserve it.
Not for the faint-hearted, the May Fair will look after you. You will enjoy the quiet buzz of being in the West End, but cosseted and cared for in one of London's premier 5* hotels.
Hotels-London Tip: Make sure your rooms has a bathroom with TV. It's still pretty lavish to watch TV in the bath.
