The political hub of London is quite simply a fascinating area to visit, where many of London’s most famous places exist within a stone’s throw of each other. Sitting proudly on the banks of the River Thames, the Houses of Parliament is arguably the most important building in Britain. The place where laws are made, taxes decided upon and government policy vociferously debated is an experience you cannot afford to miss.
Whilst in this area, it is impossible not to look to the skies and marvel at the towering, world-famous Big Ben. Of course, your parliamentary visit would be incomplete without a stop outside 10 Downing Street, which is just around the corner on Whitehall.
Not far from the Houses of Parliament is the famed Westminster Abbey, the site of every British coronation since the 11th century and the burial place of many great poets. Few buildings in London contain within their walls as much history as this great British landmark.
If we are talking about British landmarks, it would be remiss not to remind you to visit Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square. Art lovers should also not pass up the opportunity to experience the National Gallery and the Tate Britain.
Did You Know? Westminster Bridge is painted green to match the benches in the Houses of Parliament.
