a guide to west end

about west end

London’s West End is held in high esteem worldwide for its many theatres and the variety of shows they offer. The Adelphi, London Palladium and The Old Vic (famously operating under the guidance of Hollywood star Kevin Spacey) are just some of the theatrical heavyweights to be found. From Shakespeare to song and dance, there is something to suit all tastes. Our favourites are the hilarious Avenue Q and the heart-warming Les Miserables.

Whilst it is theatre for which it is undoubtedly most renowned, the West End also contains some of London’s most famous landmarks. Take in the striking surroundings of Piccadilly Circus and the bustling streets of Leicester Square. Shoppers will find much to occupy them along Regent Street, Oxford Street and the famously stylish offerings of Carnaby Street. A stroll along the banks of the River Thames also affords marvellous views of the city, particularly at night.

Our Tip: Given the vast array of attractions available in the West End, it is vital to plan your day in order to avoid missing out. We recommend shopping and sightseeing in the morning and early afternoon, followed by a trip to Chinatown for a Chinese banquet, finished off with your choice of evening show.
