A Guide to Southwark

about southwark

In recent years there has been a resurgence south of the River Thames, the area has now improved to such an extent that it stands up to any of the more obvious entertainment hotspots across the river. The variety of potential activities is without question. The obvious choice is to ride the London Eye for the best views of the city.

If the queue puts you off, there are many more options available. Thrill seekers can descend into the spooky London Dungeon, before investigating the paranormal in the equally creepy London Bridge Experience. If you are not a fan of the dark, you might try venturing outdoors and climbing aboard Sir Francis Drake's legendary Golden Hinde ship, complete with an entertaining guided tour. From on the water to underwater, London Aquarium is home to an impressive collection of marine life.

The Imperial War Museum offers some terrific insight into wartime London, while theatre fans will no doubt be tempted by the prospect of seeing a show at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

Our tip: Book yourself onto a London Eye Sunset and Night Flight to experience the city after dark.
