This messed up our entire weekend. Thank you very much!!! Also no apology or offer to help me to book elsewhere. Crap service - would never book this hotel again.

I've stayed in many London hotels and at the price I paid, it is amongst the better.
40 single room with shower and breakfast - excellent. Quiet but near Hyde Park. Would not be happy if paying full price as tv reception poor and only 5 channels, showers use mixer taps rather than power shower. Bed small but comfortable; I asked for spare pillows as they were thin. Breakfast choice was good - toast, criossant, yoghurt, a few cereals, 2 fruit juices and 2 (bland) cheeses. coffee and tea. Internet is extra and you have to use their PC's rather than connect your own ipod, laptop, PSP or whatever.

For the price (65), it was good value - you get what you pay for!
When we arrived, they had us down for a twin room and we had specifically booked a double, which was annoying. Not sure that is Laterooms or the hotel!
Room was tidy enough, but very very basic and dated - the electrics from the light fitting were hanging out.
Beware that a cooked full English breakfast is 8 and NOT included in the "free breakfast". Other customers got caught out.. It sounds too good to be true that this is included, and it is!

We booked an ensuite double at the very last minute for 50, well below the full price of 138 per room. For 50, we could not complain - we had a bed, toilet and shower in central london. I would have not been happy to pay much more however - the room was small and very dated, the wall paper coming away from the walls and bed spread older than the both of us put together. The shower was hot, but flooded the bathroom and the tv reception was poor at best. To summarise, for a 50 room - ok value for our needs, but i would probably not pay that much to stay again, let alone the standard cost of 138.

Needed a one night stop over and found the hotel on 'Late Rooms' for 30. Expecting an en-suite single but on arrival was given a family suite the size of a London flat. Everything absolutely spot on - clean, bath and shower with plenty of hot water, television, very quiet and enough room to play a 5-a-side football match. Plus a fabulous breakfast. What not to like??? Apart from being lucky enough to land a bargain price, this is a very good hotel for its price, location and market position. Would definitely stay again and pay up to 120 per night quite happily

The Guards Hotel is situated in a quiet square set back from the Bayswater Road. We stayed in room 106 on the first floor, the room was a little on the small side with the double bed up against the wall on one side. The room was clean and even had its own fridge. The bathroom was perfectly adequate. Breakfast was served in the basement which also doubles up during the daytime and evening as a small restaurant although we did not try it. Breakfast was continental with the usual cereals, toast, croissants, jam cheese, yoghurt and fruit, the tea and coffee left a little to be desired! It was possible to have a cooked breakfast for 3.00 or one with Marks And Spencer ingredients for 4 .75. The staff in the breakfast room and in the rest of the hotel were always pleasant and helpful.

Room 203 (Double plus single bed)
Small room- backs onto the lift: deep hums and vibration! - did have extra bed in, which was necessary otherwise there would be absolutely no room to move at all!
No storage apart from a tiny cupboard - 3 hangers for 3 people???
Heating was all over the place - radiators on at very strange times. Old fashioned air-con, which pumped out 'warm' air....
Breakfast food was limited and they ran out of croissants on the first day.
However, the staff in the restaurant were very very friendly and kind. They made our stay worthwhile - thank you to you all (especially for the egg!)
Not bad location: Hotel is a stones throw from Hyde Park and a 10 minute walk from Queens Gate.10-15 minute walk to Oxford street. Great little pub on corner for beer, food and live music.
Might consider staying here again, (but definitely not Room 203) and definitely not at 60 per night which was certainly over-priced: there are better places to stay for the same/ less price.

Room was clean, and fully supplied.
It took a bit of finding in the dark and heavy rain. Be aware it is in the corner of a square, and the street numbers run consecutively.
Very good staff at breakfast, (continental only). I would stay again, and even pay a bit more.
There are limited options for food locally unless you walk some 10 to 15 minutes, so if arriving late, eat before you arrive.

The staff were all extremely friendly. We had booked a double room but actually stayed in a huge room with 2 double beds & 1 single. Breakfast was a well supplied, good continental buffet & served until 10.30am, so was great for a lie-in. Great location. The square the hotel is in, is lovely. Is really near to the tube stops, especially Lancaster Gate (less than 5 mins). Also there's a good pub just around the corner which had live acoustic music the night we stayed. Was a bargain at the dicounted price we paid. Being picky, if you had paid full price then you may think the decor of the room was slightly worn. Would definitely stay here again when I'm next in London, we really enjoyed every aspect of our stay here.

The staff were quite abrupt and uncompromising. The room was sub basement, near to the breakfast room so pretty noisy from early morning. The room was a good size, the shower good and plentiful hot water. The heating was hit and miss and the twin beds were comfy. The walls though were paper thin and we could hear conversations from next door and upstairs! The breakfast was good, timings were good too, lots of choice and for an extra 3pounds you could have full English. All in all good value for money to the rack rate but the staff need to be a little more open and helpful.

Stayed in Rm 506 which is a basement room, however as we were just sleeping over that was not an issue. For the price point the room is spacious, well equiped and comfortable with large power shower, air con and fridge etc. The only niggle was that the room was too hot and required the air con left on overnight which resulted in sore throats in the morning as the air was so dry (air con blamed) The breakfast was continental by default but could have been upgraded for a reasonable 4 per head IF we had known about it (Has to be pre ordered the night before) - Otherwise position just off Hyde park can't be beaten for visiting London

Two consecutive nights here; 45 first night, 35 the next; I did check out the first night and checked back in the second evening after going back to late rooms.com for the great price of the room. Pity there's nothing available there tonight nor last night. As usual, the hotel is a RELIABLE. Still not keen on their continental breakfast, but not bad enough to skip like most places in London. I discovered they have a restaurant there (Russian cuisine) I'd like to try, but it's momentarily closed. Room which was a little smaller than my usual was in a nook and cranny with another and very sufficient. Staff very nice and more smiles than before. Naughty me; it's becoming more and more a relaxing place to spend a night or two that they're patient enough to let me check out 1/2 hour after the noon checkout!! I'm usually great with time, unlike so many in Britain, but after my run/power walk in the mornings, I tend to let the time slip away. Please add soya milk or AT LEAST skim milk to the breakfast; I cannot stomach anything more fatty than skim. I love the Bran Flakes; very healthy.

This is my third review of this hotel...
This is my third review of this hotel. I like it for its location. It's away from neighbouring low-class Paddington and Bayswater Queensway. The noise outside the hotel at night comes from the hostellers at the London Hostel a couple of doors down. They hang around on the sidewalk, and loudly. The next morning, there's always a workman disturbing the peace with his loud comments; typical. The staff this time were not as efficient, and the maids were very rude in the corridor (about me) for no intelligent reason. The front desk staff rarely smile and are quite unwelcoming, although the person who greeted me when I checked in was very nice. The breakfast staff were nice and helpful; they need to change the breakfast, though - some fruit and light yoghurt and skim milk needs to be added. I didn't like the room as much this time and I've stayed in this upgraded room before. The blankets need a wash and the room didn't seem as clean. The saucers were had food stuck to them.

I stayed at this hotel not long ago...
I stayed at this hotel not long ago, for it's amazing price for that standard of hotel in London from laterooms.com website. Loved my upgraded room the first time. I stayed two nights this week; 21 and 22 July. First night good room with a closed off entrance to the room. Good facilities, including a fridge if needed. Bathroom was a good size and 95% spotless. A valid and important point to make, however, is when a guest arrives at a hotel, the concierge staff should be warm and friendly and welcoming. The girl at the desk was none of these. The first time I stayed here, Cristiano from Italy, was working there (helping out as a favor, he said) and he was charming and exactly how a concierge should be. The breakfast girls were lovely to me and very sweet. Breakfast was okay, too many carbs (but a lot of people don't mind that). Some fruit would have been nice, and low fat or fat free yoghurt not full fat and a better choice of milk than full-fat, perhaps skim or soya or at least semi-skim. Their check out is at noon and they've been flexible with this, and they have a good luggage storage concept. I like the location too. My room was behind the Greek Orthodox Monastery; it's nice to have good and quiet neighbors! I checked in again the following night after discovering the same price (actually US90dollars) but for London it was reasonable. My room G4 wasn't as good a location and quite noisy; sounds of thundering feet above and the people in the room next to mine in the enclosed area of two rooms were a little noisy. The next morning, the girls offered to stay around after the breakfast time when I came down to grab my small box of Bran Flakes and a juice, but I wouldn't expect it and ate in my room. I would stay here again definitely. I'm not a big TV watcher (depends, I suppose) but it is always nice to have UK Digital or Sky. They only had a few extra channels. Overall, I really like this hotel. The housekeeping staff were very nice and helpful too.

I read the reviews of a number of hotels located on or near Lancaster Gate where I wanted to stay for my trip and London Guards Hotel had the best out of all the similarly priced hotels so I plumped for it and I am glad I did. I was lucky and had an unrequested upgrade on arrival to a bigger room than the single I booked, so I appreciated that for a start. Service was good and all the staff were very polite. The room more than met my requirements and I had a great night's sleep. The bathrooms could do with an upgrade but then again what do you expect for the price? The tiles were cracked and the shower head iffy but there was no doubt that it was clean and functional as was the rest of the room. Location was great being so close to the central line and I would stay there again (and hope for an upgrade, thank you for that).

I booked a single ensuite room for myself, and was upgraded to a lovely, clean, well furnished large twin room. Bath shower was spotlessly clean. I only saw one long strand of hair on the floor(strange for a London hotel) between the bath and the side of the toilet. Cristiano was a charming concierge from Italy. He actually works at the Rose Court Hotel in Paddington but told me that he helps out at this hotel sometimes. I thought he were the manager and a very good one. I stayed at the Rose Court Hotel too. This hotel has a lift (elevator), and it was extremely quiet inside (no loud people along the corridors like in so many British hotels). There were some noisy people outside in this quiet street though. This room had a lounge area and I think I only paid 39 (the single rate). It was a pleasure to stay here unlike so many hotels in Britain that are noisy and unclean. Breakfast was so-so. The yoghurt was full fat, so I declined. I love yoghurt but a skinnier one. The breakfast staff were very nice. The concierge the next day let me check out at 1 pm not noon. I wish I'd checked into the hotel earlier and not 7.30pm. Not a bad location, down the road from Lancaster Gate station, five minutes from the park and shopping areas.

Reception staff were lethargic and disinterested and the room was a nightmare to find. Ther were piles of dirty linen in most corridors and one particular pile stayed in ours for 3 days. All the carpets in the hotel are dirty. The room itself was depressingly grubby. Food was of the very minimum standard you'd expect. A very shabby hotel. The worst I can ever recall staying in. I would never return.

This was a great place to stay and we found it to be extremely convenient to the Underground. There were several nearby pubs and restaurants that looked inviting and we made an excellent choice for dinner. This hotel really anchored our weekend in London and we hope to use it again soon!

The hotel is situated is an easily accessible and quiet part of Lancaster Gate. The continental breakfast was quite poor. The room was very spacious and clean and even had a 'fridge! The only real problem was that the lift had broken down and it was suggested that we use the service lift which was okay but a bit scary! Generally the hotel was quiet, clean and good value for money.

Location and price is ok, rooms about average. Be prepared for a long walk if your room is on third floor - a long and narrow walk that is. Big plus for the fridge. Breakfast was ok but you'll get more value for money eating out. I'd say there are better alternatives in this area, but you could also do worse...

I love staying at this hotel, and i have done it many times. I was fearing to write in the guest book else this gem of a hotel would be too booked-up in the future to take me in. The location is great, the rooms are cleaned to perfection and the staff are sweet. You are not going to get better than this for the money.Enjoy.

An ok experience...worst feature, was the extremely high shower head, with an extremely weak shower spray. Tiny bathrooms, but typical of hotels in London. Guest before us at check-in had problems - couldn't find his reservation. At first they couldn't find ours either. Stayed 6/2000.

Hotel had average amenities, but was in
a quieter location, which gave it a big
plus. Location not far from the underground and one could walk through
Hyde Park which was nice.
