Let's be fair, I paid 70 for 3 nights in London; it wasn't going to be excellent.
There was no lift, the wall could with a paint and the windows maybe should have been double glazed.
But the staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was close to Paddington tube and my room was en-suite and had a tv and hairdryer. It's just a place to come back to sleep when you want to get out to see the city.
And it was 70 for 3 nights in London.

Sorry to say it but wouldn't recommend this...
Sorry to say it but wouldn't recommend this hotel to an enemy.
To begin our shocking stay, we arrived at a wonderful looking hotel, in a decent location, albeit slightly off the beaten track. The reception looked ok, fairly standard. As we were slightly early we asked to store our bags and put them back in the rooms later - we were told they could be left in the Breakfast Room, which is where it all started.... a shabby looking room with no lock and a wide-open door with fire escape to the street outside - very safe.
We returned later in the day to check-in, and were told that our room was on the 3rd floor... and there is no lift... fantastic a workout! Trust me when I say the walk was not appreciated by me and my friends who had a fair amount of luggage between us and had to squeeze up a tiny stairwell, of uneven steps, with no light to guide our way as the bulb was blown and hadn't been replaced.
On arrival, the room was shocking - paint peeling, out-dated (dare I say - stained) bedding, pillows that are flatter than the sheets, a window you had to prop open with a book, and a miniscule bathroom that had broken handles on the shower AND toilet... so we were expected to be expert plumbers too by the looks of things?! The toilet half-flushed continuously, making the room just that bit noisier! Did I mention that it was tiny and we had to pile up our bags just to walk around the beds... RIDICULOUS! The words antiquated and unclean spring to mind.
The following morning, after a fitful sleep, we went downstairs to breakfast - and it couldn't have been worse. We arrived in the B'Fast Room at 8.45 and had to wait for a table until 9am - fair enough. However when seated at a dirty table, that had no cutlery, cups & saucers or napkins, I think we started to get annoyed.
This was made only worse after when viewing the buffet we saw there was - no croissants, fresh meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, hot water for tea, fresh coffee, juices, bowls or plates, milk, butter or anything else you might usually see. In other words what there was, was brown or white sliced bread (DRY! No butter remember!) or cornflakes.... with no milk, and some orange juice, which you were to pour yourself out of the own-label carton. At which was the final straw. The waitresses who spoke no English attempted to apologise, but didnt have the words, and the Manager, flatly said "I'll see what I can do." Two hours later, when not re-visited by said idiot, I followed up my complaint and was told they were understaffed and what do I expect him to do?! How many people does it take to boil and egg, or to put pre-cooked and sliced ham on a plate?! We should have complained earlier and we might've had a better stay. "Nothing I can do now!" Livid, I left before another condescending word left his mouth.
Never, ever, ever would I stay there again. The rooms are not as shown and this hotel is a disgrace.
Top and bottom of it, this shabby hotel is poorly run, dirty and small with rude and difficult staff who dont care how your stay is, as they get the money up front. Dont expect a good nights sleep or a breakfast in the morning. BEWARE!!!

200 for the two of us for 3 nights. Cannot complain about that as was a 2 minute (if that) walk to tube. Room was decently kept, clean. Nice size. Bathroom lovely. Small, but that shower is nice and big. ;)
Breakfast was confusing though. Tried it once, but food not great, so we ended up eating out for breakfast.
Fab if you're looking for a weekend getaway. XD
Loved staying here, very helpful at reception. Good value for money, but need a few more bathroom products considering it was a 5 person bedroom. The floor was grim, prefered keeping shoes on. Linen was clean as expected, some bed were abit broken inside though, but we didnt sleep much so this didn't matter. Great location, would definitely come back if I needed a short stay in london.
Just wish the 2 bed was available for one night, and the 3 bed room was available.

I paid for nights as I booked late...
I paid 160 for 2 nights as I booked late, took one look at a 'double' room and decided we would
not be staying there and leaving immediately. I was offered 2 different rooms that were equally tiny, deshevelled and frankly a little creepy and, again decided that in spite of losing 95 for the reservation we would rather just get out of there. I am well versed in cheap and cheerful but this is a different kettle of fish. It advertises itself as a 3* hotel but feels like student/unemployed accomodation circa 1970 - narrow stairways up 3 floors with tiny or odd shaped attic rooms and very dated. Other features included an institutional type cleaning product smell, hanging electrical cables and unused furniture 'hidden' away in guest rooms. The hotel qualifies as habitable in terms of acceptable hygine and safety but you will not feel like you are on holiday if you stay here. They wanted 110 on the day for a room that you could find in a hostel for 30, (it must be the meanest criteria for qualifying as 3* hotel.) In a word 'depressing', you will walk out of here with a feeling of relief, even if they have taken your money for the first night, as per on-line booking agreements. If you don't want any regrets, carry on searching the website however desperate you are, (somthing they must rely on), I don't recon you could get much worse than this. I find it hard to fathom why this hotel is still running, it obviously does not rely on repeat business. I very much look forward to seeing the hotel's comments on this review board.

Rooms pictured on website were nothing like the one we (2 adults, 2 kids) were allocated. Our room contained two beds (didn't seem to be quite as big as a double) with a middle bedside table, with the beds touching the room walls. The ensuite was also small but functional albeit no shelf or hook for any toiletries/towel with the complimentary soap etc left on the sink. It was however clean and the beds comfortable. I'd selected this over other rooms as breakfast was included, wouldn't do so again as the breakfast comprised a choice of 2 cereals, toast with a bolied egg each but as much tea, coffee & orange juice you wished. Breakfast was supplied in the basement which was somewhat stuffy with little space to move around the tables. Convenience to Hyde Park & shops, clubs at the corner of Edgeware Road (5 mins walk) was the hotel's best feature.

We had read some negative comments so didn't know what to expect. We had our grandson with us our room was newly refurbished and clean albeit a bit on the small side for 3 of us but as we were in the room very little it didn't really matter that much. The shower was very good and powerfull, clean towels daily. The breakfast was basic but adequate for the money we paid, the only critism was chipped plates etc which dosn't look very nice. The hotel was security conscious and we found the staff quite pleasant the other thing was the lovely fresh flower arrangements in reception very nice indeed. Easy acess to buses and Paddington station. Maximum age for child was 8 yrs this wasn't actually stated on th net site when booking.

I paid a very reasonable price and thought the hotel clean and basic. The shower tap was broken so a bit fiddly but the shower worked perfectly well. The room was small and the bathroom was small. The only thing this hotel has going for it is its location, being close to Paddington station is a plus but thats where the positives end. This hotel was very disappointing. The room was smelly & pokey, the carpet was mankey, the bathroom although quite new was tiny, I couldnt get into the shower, or close to the sink & the toilet was a challenge that was beyond any reasonable contortion. If you like to spend time chilling in your hotel room this is not the place! Have stayed in much nicer hotels in this price range in London.

DONT DONT DONT pay before you see the room your getting I made that mistake paid 300 for 4 nights for a room you could'nt move in . The bathroom was so small the door hit off the sink so you have to go in sideways no use if you are over weight. If someone is sitting on the bed you cant get into the bathrom. There is NO drawers to put your clothes into and the wardrobe space is a joke only able to hold 2 coat hangers.......................I think that late rooms.com would remove this hotel from the listings as it is NOTHING like the photos that they are showing
I had to pay an extra 90 for 3 nights just to get a slightly bigger room this room had a wardrobe (a single one) but again no drawers......................... but had a much better bathroom saying that the shower screen handle was hanging off and the door its self was off the runners so a bit tricky to get in and out of .............................. I have stayed in 100s of hotels and i wouldnt say i was to fussy but this hotel is a joke .................. Please take my advice and DONT pay till you see the room!!!!!!!!!! You can get a travel lodge near the city centre for less than this hotel ............ breakfast was VERY basic . hard boiled eggs on a plate on the table , cereal, tea and toast which you had to get yourself.......................... I only went for breakfast once .........
Dont be fooled by the pictures that this hotel are advertising as it is NOTHING like the one you will get ............................
The rooms we expected to be small and they were. The room was not updated and in working order. Window wouldn't shut, bathroom door really squeeked, no lock for the door had to use master key, tv had lines through it and they didn't clean the room one day. When complaining nicely to get things changed they said they would but they never fixed anything. We were there 3 nights and still nothing improved. I would never stay there. Other people at breakfast also had issues that were not resolved.

Have been using this hotel since 2001 but was shocked at the decline in rooms and the downstairs breakfast room since last I stayed several years ago. They claim the hotel has been refurbished, this is a joke! They have halved the size of the breakfast room by eliminating all cooked breakfast facilities, the rest room has been eliminated, the carpets in our room were disgusting, the toilet seat was broken. The hotel is at a great location but I would not stay there again even though it is cheap. Most of the work carried out in the rooms must have been done by a 10 year old, the carpentry and cabinet making is so poor!

It was very hot no aircon, even a fan wouldve been good. We had to leave the window open due to stuffiness & warmth. It was very noisey outside. Cars hooting doors banging. The laundry van was delivering at 6am pushing heavy noisey cages about. I am a light sleeper. Dont know what would have if there was a fire everyone rushing down narrow stairs. The room was nice but it was too small for 4 women and we each had to share a 3 quarter bed! There was no air in the room as we were in the basement and I had no phone signal for the entire time i was in the hotel. There was also no bin in the room or bathroom which was disappointing as there were 4 women in one room. Overall I would say it was clean but it would have been much better if there were 2 singles and a double so only 2 would have to share. It would have also been nice if breakfast was served with some fruit or yoghurt rather than toast or cornflakes every morning. The receptionists were friendly and asked us if we had a good day and the room was clean and tidy every time we returned.

Checked in on the 28th after booking through Laterooms. Had telephonically confirmed with the Hotel about a couple of weeks before our arrival that we were traveling with an elderly person of about 73 years ...who could not climb stairs. When we reached the Hotel the receptionist (a Mideastern who works on Sundays only) allotted us rooms on the 4rth flr. Considering there was no lift it was impossible for the elderly person to climb up. After much altercation & persuasion he agreed to allotting one room on the first flr in a different building(without intercom or telephone (room 3) and one in a different adjacent building on the 4th floor& swiped our card, charging us for 3 nights for one dble & one triple. After swiping our card he again allotted us rooms on the fourth & third flr and when we told him that it was not possible for the elderly person to climb the stairs & that we would like to cancel our booking , we were told that one nights charges for one double & one triple would be retained as cancellation charges & would not be refunded. However again after much altercation we got one room on the 4rth flr & one room on the first flr in adjacent buildings connected through the reception. Every time we had to talk to each other we had to climb up or down 4 flights of narrow stairs (around 2 feet wide after the 3rd floor....which made carrying the luggage impossible). In the room no 26 allotted to us on the fourth floor the bathroom lights were not working, the shower was broken the WC flush was not working, there were no spoons with the tea or coffee maker. However the next day after much persuasion we managed to change the room.
The breakfast room was overcrowded. there was always a short supply of plates & cereal bowls as well as bread. The breakfast consisted of toast, orange juice , cold boiled eggs, corn flakes & milk. It was basically a survival of the fittest. Just down the road there were a number of restaurants offering full english breakfast for about 3 to 3.5 pounds.
I think a 3 * rating for Linden Housel is misleadind it should be rated as a 1 or 11/2 * hotel.

I travelled with my 11 year old daughter and we were somewhat disappointed - had read the reviews beforehand and some did not seem too bad, so thought we would risk it ! Check in staff were off hand and did not seem to like the fact we had family not twin room, but were helpful in allowing us to leave case as we arrived at 11am. Room was at very top of hotel - 77 stairs, all quite steep and hard work with case. Lighting in corridor very poor and no natural light. Room was reasonably clean, but a bit 'tired' looking, bathroom sink plug left on side of sink complete with hairs ??!! Only one mug (dirty) and one cup provided as part of tea and coffee facilities for two double bed room, also kettle switched itself off before it got to boiling point. Beds were comfortable but pillows like tissues. Having left our case in the dining room we did not have breakfast next day - chose to eat out. Left case on departure day as well and were charged 5 by grumpy chap on reception - no receipt provided. All in all, wish we had paid 20 / 30 more and gone to one of bigger chain hotels. I would not stay there again.

The hotel was convenient for Paddington station. Reception staff were friendly. The room was OK and the bed very comfy. On the other hand, it was a shame to have to pay a surchage when paying with a debit card. The main let down, however, was the dire breakfast experience - just a little improvement here and I would have scored excellent value for money!

Not made welcome on reception - bed was tiny for a double and very uncomfortable - website makes this place look quite swanky. Reality is very different. Sussex Square is very near to Paddigton tube and there are some nice pubs and cafes to get a meal or decent breakfast along the way so location was good.

Stayed here for one night as arrived back in London late after a weekend away. Can't say much about it as checked in at about 11pm, and out at 8am. Room was fine, booked a double and was given a triple room. Room was clean and quite modern in its decor. Bathroom was tiny but new and had a good shower. Breakfast basic but did the job. Overall, for 35 a night there is nothing bad I could say about this hotel. I have stayed in worse that cost more. Wouldn't fancy staying here on my own though, as it was very quiet and didn't feel very homely. No hairdryer in the room, but when I asked reception they brought one straight up for me. Wouldn't recommend if you are staying for a romantic weekend, or if you would be in the hotel for any length of time, but if you wanted somewhere cheap to crash after a night out then this is perfect.

On arrival at about 9am we left our cases in the luggage storage area (breakfast room) and went out for the day in London. When booking the rooms I booked 2 double rooms and 1 triple room. When we came to check in later that day we were told there were none of these rooms left and that the only choice we had was to stay in a triple and a family room either that or two of our party would have to go to another one of their hotels!! Normally this wouldn't have been a big problem but 3 people in one room and 4 people in another meant queuing for the shower which in turn made us late for dinner reservations. No explanation was given for the change in rooms and no apology either! Rooms were definitely small but from reading other reviews I had expected this. In general the room was pretty grubby - dirty carpet etc but the bathrooms were ok as they looked like they had been decorated recently. Breakfast was not a continental breakfast it was brown toast, cereal and boiled eggs and that was it. All in all it was adequate for the amount of time spent in it. We were on a girlie weekend and a budget - and for 23 each what did we expect. I would use again but not for a special occasion you could get something a lot better for not much more money I'm sure of it!

I paid 45 for one night, reception was helpful, room was small but spotless, bedding was very clean and no noise from other guests or traffic. Bathroom had clearly been refurbished very recently and to a very good standard. Heating controls worked (and not painted stuck like some places) and the room had a smart TV too. Kettle and cups in bedroom were very clean. Breakfast was basic but absolutely fine (toast, cereal and hard boiled eggs). For the price and location I don't think you can go wrong with this hotel. I usually stay in Copthorne's or Hilton's and pay at least 100 per night. Would I stay at this hotel again? For 45, yes, absolutely!

The gentleman at the front counter was quite helpful, however, the quality of the room was a let down. Although, this is a budget hotel, one would expect at least decent quality in the rooms. The shower had cracks all around the bottom. The beddings were not clean, making me sneeze alot. The bed itself was very uncomfortable with bumps all over the place and the pillows were paper thin. After reading other reviews about Linden House, I was somewhat apprehensive about our stay. However, I can honestly say this hotel is fantastic value for money, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the hotel itself is clean and modernly furnished. My friend and I wanted to stay overnight in London and we needed a base to dump our shopping bags and get ready for clubbing! Linden House was in a great location (2 minute walk for Paddington Tube station) and there are some pubs and resturants just down the road. Check in was easy and efficient, our room occupied 2 double beds and a single (it was slightly cramped but since we had only paid for a twin room we were very happy to get a double bed each). Bathroom was lovely- slightly on the small side but a fantastic shower, everything was clean and you are provided with samples, which is a welcome touch. Our room was well equipped also- TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, drawer and wardrobe space, plenty of mirrors, lots of lights etc. We were happy. The staff are lovely, very helpful, and although I had read about having to pay a fee to keep your luggage in the hotel after checking out, I didn't have to, so I'm not sure what they're policy is here! Breakfast is served from 7.30-9.30am, it's very basic- toast, jams, cornflakes, milk, hard boiled eggs, orange juice and tea/coffee. But toast was fine for us! If you wanted a bit more, you could go to the cafe down the road. Overall, an enjoyable stay in Linden House Hotel, would definitely recommend and visit again. I admit it's not the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed at, but it is the best value for money!

Although ringing the doorbell and waiting for an answer if it's cold and wet is not ideal, it does make for a secure stay at the Linden House Hotel. The front-desk staff were nearly always efficient at letting me in (a smoker, I popped out a lot).
The stairs are steep, the room was small - but everything worked and the overall cleanliness was excellent. The beds do squeak a lot, but luckily the couple in the room above mine were very quick and efficient and eventually realised what a racket they were making and so moved to a less squeaky section? I assume anyway :)
The breakfast room is in the basement and is the infamous hard boiled eggs, help yourself toast and two types of cereal. The orange juice is a 69p variety from the cash'n'carry and quite bitter. The coffee is always luke-warm so I just topped it up with hot water but that could be no bad thing coz the coffee is thick as tar!
I found the Linden House Hotel reasonable for a central London hotel. Good location next to Paddington, not that noisy considering it's location. It's security is great given its location too. I would stay again, not for luxury but for a clean, tidy room and edible breakfast.

On using the shower in the morning I recieved a significant shock when trying to turn it off and also a shock from the floor both of these events could have had serious implications for health and safety.

The bath room was ok, hot shower in the morning.
The room was clean, however, I would try and get one of the other budget hotels in the area, such as the Royal Court Apartments or the Leisure Inn Hotel. After a long journey from Cornwall to London, we weren't that impressed with having to trek up 6 flights of stairs to our room, which we found to be addequate, didn't have the wow factor! (we came to the conclusion that it would be ok for one night)! We were glad that we had an offer on the room, we certainly wouldn't pay the normal rate, the picture on the web site certainly didn't correspond to the room we were given. The only thing I can mention about the cleanliness of our room was that there were a lot of stains, there was rather a large stain on my friends bed (which we didn't actually see until the morning we left, as the sheets were hanging over it), plus other small stains, one on my bed spread, and others on the floor.
One suggestion - may be worth taking own towels, one medium sized towel is supplied to each person, plus a floor towel!
Breakfast was included in the price of the room - toast and cereal available, coffee - far too strong and tepid, Tea - far too weak and also tepid! Not all that great, wouldn't stay here again!

Bathroom was nice and clean but water from shower stayed on the floor because the outflow was locked. Breakfast - just toasts, juice, tea/coffe, boiled eggs and some jam - awful and no variety. Hotel staff was helpful and nice. Another advantage is location - 2 min. walk from Paddington station and just 5 min walk from Hyde Park. We were really disappointed in the quality of this hotel. The room was absolutely nothing like any of the pictures on the website. When we arrived we had to wait for someone to unlock the front door, then were greeted by a fairly cold hotelier who found it hard to smile. When we saw our room, we were shocked. Entirely different decor than what was advertised, overpowering smell of fresh paint and the room was tiny and dingy. We asked for another room as, due to the smell, it was uninhabitable. After the hotelier told us the room 'did not smell' !?! he showed us to another which was just as bad. We asked for our money back and were refused due to '48 hr cancellation policy'. We were finally shown another room on the top floor which reeked of smoke, had stained bedspreads and broken bathroom fixtures and the only reason we ended up staying was because we could not be bothered arguing with the staff over payment as we were tired from travels. There was also various junk left lying in the hallways which we had to ask to be removed so we could walk freely to the stairs. Overall this hotel was a big let down. Ask to see the room before paying!

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The facilities advertised on this site and the hotels site, as being available, were not available. The first room I was given had no TV, no phone, no Internet and was dirty. I went back to reception to get another room. The staff member was very unhelpful but eventually gave me another room, that at least had a tv and phone, still no internet. The room was very shabby, had it not been for the fact that I had pre-paid the hotel, I would have walked out and tried to find another hotel.

Well, where do I start? Finding the hotel was really easy, on first impression from the web site pages and the outside of the hotel I thought that my wife had found a gem of a hotel, the reception area was well presented looking very modern with its oak wooden floors, internet access and decent furniture, the hotel reception eagerly handed over the key to room 18 and pointed out the way to get there...NIGHTMARE!!! I opened the door to the room and found it to be like a squat straight of the Bill. The curtains were just about hanging onto the wall, three double beds were crammed into a very small room and the carpet was threadbear, the bed clothes looked as if they had'nt been washed since they were first put there and moving into the bath room I was greeted with a dirty toilet and black mould growing in the shower cubicle, absolutely disgusting!!! Immediately I went back to reception to tell them that the room was unaaceptable and I was greeting by the guy saying 'what do you expect when you only pay 120... cleanliness that what I expect. We were moved to a diferent room that was marginally better, the room was cleaner All in all a pretty poor hotel, do not go there with a family or young children as the stairs are very steep, in fact if you could afford not stay DONT its an absolute dive of a hotel.

After several searches the outlook was bleak as there were more negative than positive reviews but the positive reviews were very positive so we booked it anyway coz how bad could it be......
Bad it was, firstly, only part of the hotel has been refurbished so it's a lucky dip to see whether you get to stay in the nice part or the part that's not even fit for a stray gnat! Please DO NOT stay here, for the money you pay you can get a much better place in the same area and do not be fooled by the website. Our room was DIRTY, i did not want to touch anything let alone sleep here. I'm not a precious traveller, I've holidayed in campervans and slept in tents but I draw the line on dirty sheets with speckles of dried blood on it, mouldy shower, mouse traps under the bed, carpets ripping in corners, mutliple plugs in the ONE power point (fire hazard!) And to top it all off....at breakfast the next morning you can tell who got lucky in the room allocations as those who stayed in the new part were laughing, refreshed and relaxed and those like us, who weren't as lucky, were sleep deprived, angry and feeling really ripped off!!
Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else!

I booked a single room at the Linden Hotel in Paddington - but was shipped over to another hotel a 10 minute drive away, in an area of London I don't know and a place that wasn't convenient for where I needed to be the following morning. This new hotel wasn't finished. Despite having booked an en-suite room with Late rooms, they tried to put me in a room where I would have to travel down the stairs to use the toilet in the night!! To be fair, when I expressed my disgust, they did then offer me a full en-suite room. However, in order to turn on the power in the room, I had to have my room key in a 'power slot' outside the lockable door for my room, which I wasn't very happy about as anyone could have opened the door, and taken my room key during the night! I also nearly tripped over the phone wire, which ran across the floow of the room, right in front of the door!! On the plus side, the shower was lovely and there was a flat screen TV ... but the only furniture in the room was the bed and a rail for clothes. There was no dressing table / desk or drawers. The breakfast consisted of toast you made yourself, tea and orange juice. There was also something which looked a bit like cheese, but I couldn't say for sure! People were waiting outside the very small breakfast room / reception area for a table to become available. A very interesting experience to say the least! I wonder what the Linden Hotel would have been like ... ?

We were thouroughly disappointed with the hotel and the standard of the room, having just left a hotel in the heart of Rome which cost less and put this room to shame I was ashamed to have taken my guests from Canada to this Hotel. The room while fairly clean was cramped, there was a very poorly laid out shower room with no shelves of any kind for toiletries etc therefor everything got wet when showering, there was mould on the back of the bathroom door, the room was in the basement and we were told it was one of their better rooms well if this was better I would hate to see the others. The most upsetting part was that on registering we were told it was the hotel policy to collect payment in advance, then told that the credit card facilities were not working and the hotel demanded cash, when a hotel advertises that it will accept credit cards then demands cash this is very, very, very poor customer service, as we told them the failure of their equipment was their promblem not ours, and they should have allowed us to wait at least until check-out and then if the equipment was still faulty we would have had to pay cash. Instead they insisted on at least half of our two night payment in advance in cash and then harassed us and our guests for the balance of the payment for the remainder of our stay. We pointed out to them that they had our credit card number on their records so they could not loose however, they continued to harrass us. If it were not for the fact that we were all on a limited budget and they would have charged us for at least one night we would have walked out rather then staying in this hotel. Their complete lack of customer service and poor business ethic should be reported to a consumer advice bureau. It should be noted that we did place a call to Late rooms and they called the hotel and attempted to have the cancellation penalty waived for us when they were told how upset we were with the room and the payment policy, however the hotel would not budge.

The room was refurbished as described, the bathroom was clean & recently re-tiled, although the absence of any grouting may mean that the tiles don't stay on the walls for long... The hotel actually has a great location, it was quite easy to find, just by the Paddington station. We (a couple) got a room in the basement. The room is ok, but it is quite hard to access it, steep and narrow stairs.
You can leave you luggage after you check out but you will be charged for it, 5 or 7 depending on the receptionist, and they do not take any responsabilities for them.
The breakfast is very basic.
Overall, for the price we paid, is not good at all.

The hotel was nothing like we expected from the booking pages or information and pictures. The room smelled and there was fungus on the walls in the shower as well as cups and spoons for tea/coffee were dirty. The only thing that was good about the hotel at all was the location. I would not recomment this hotel to anyone.

The worst hotel I have had the mis-pleasure of staying in. The pictures on the web site bare no resemblance to what you get. Althought it was clean but that is the only plus point. Very small even for one person, let alone two.
Breakfast was a complete waste of time. It should be made clear that, it is continental breakfast with a self service toaster which is potentialy dangerous. Hard boiled eggs left on the tables did not appeal either.
Very poor, very misleading.

Not bad value for money, but pretty poor customer service. Reception disorganised, breakfast service non-existant and barely a clean table to sit at. Breakfast consited of bread, hard boiled eggs and basic cereal. Room pretty spacious and clean and definately good value for london. However, the room was up so many steep steps that i would only recommend it to young and fit travellers. Also no chain lock or key card security on doors. Roller blind fell of the window with slightest touch. Good TV and choice of channels.

I was also charged additional money for paying by card, not that it was mentioned. A lack of english speaking reception staff made it more frustrating. Breakfast was basic but better than I expected.

The breakfast was terrible just cornflakes, muesli, cold tea, little coffee, no orange juice, difficult to use toasters, very squashed and difficult to get anything from the table. That was all for breakfast and most was not filled up or there anyaway, not worth getting up for, I was 1/2 hour before the supposed breakfast bar closed and nothing much there.
I am not normally a whinger, am easy going. Next complaint, first time I was charged for using my debit card Barclays(not credit card), they only dont charge u if u use cash. Also leaving 1 bag for a while after checkout would cost 5.Also 3/4 hour before checkout maids burst into my room with a key when I said I was still there and only leaving at checkout time. Also no key given to me for my room as lock broken, I had to ask to be let into the room all the time.Sorry, not very happy. Staff were slow, next to no milk for tea and coffee.
Also while I am in whinging mode the first place I tried to book, Chester House, couldn't be done on line so I wasted money ringing up laterooms to book it only to find it was not available, but that ad still appeared as available for the next 24 hours.I think people's time and money shold not be wasted with unavailable rooms on the site.

For a one night stay on my own this was absolutely perfect! In a really great location between Paddington and Lancaster Gate. The room was basic - but a decent size and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was quiet and temperature was fine. I had a great hot shower in the morning. Breakfast was basic but fine. All in all it hugely exceded my expectations. 30 for a double en-suite room in Bayswater - amazing value. I will definitely stay here again. If you want luxury then don't stay here. If you want a decent nights sleep in a clean room in the heart of London for not much money - this is your place!

The down side was breakfast, if you don't get there when it starts don't expect a seat and if you are lucky enought to get a seat later don't expect there to be much of anything left. The hotel is well linked by underground with Lancaster Gate (just 5 mins away) and Paddington stations. If you are thinking that this hotel is a little friendly haven in the midst of the city - it isn't. If you are thinking of staying here - don't! I was there on business - there were 4 flights of stairs to my room, and no lift! The room (for 3) was small with half filled holes in the walls, stained, dirty bed spread . Banging doors at 2.00 am, cold showers and no room to sit for b/fast finished me off! Once when I did get a seat -there were no non diary produce for b/fast - so I had a piece of dried toast with a plastic cup of orange. When I complained about the shower - they just turned the valve down so I got a trickle of a cold shower instead of a full one! As you would expect - their customer service is as poor as the hotel!

Having checked in (~18.15) and climbed several stairways to my room I then discovered that there was no electricity and needed to go back down to reception to confirm this point. Staff were apologetic but I was unable to wash and change for an evening event as there was no natural light in my shower room. Room 13 was of low quality but the bed linen was fresh and clean. Breakfast which is included is continental and no offer was made of a cooked breakfast. The hotel matched my expectations mostly... however, I was misled by other reviews stating the quality of the breakfast. Generally everything was how I expected for a hotel of this value. The location was convenient to Paddington Station and an effective stone's throw to Hyde Park. The room was basic, but had everything you really needed. The en suite was a poorly stapled in affair with the toilet sat in place rather than fixed. It was a little cramped, but for one or two nights it would be fine for the price. Service was generally friendly and good. I would recommend the hotel to friends, but only for a bargain basement with no frills basis. Next time I will spend a bit more and stay somewhere a little nicer.
