We stayed at the Lincoln House Hotel for two nights and had no complaints about anything. The rooms were small but adequate for a couple. Its in a great location on quite a busy road off Oxford Street so its close to all the main attractions. The only thing that we didn't like was the small bathroom built into the corner of the room, water got everywhere when you had a shower but I can understand that these bathrooms were the only solution as it is an old georgian building. Another thing was that the mini fridge in the rooms had cans of pop and water in but there was a hidden charge for them that we didn't realise until we'd drank a few! All in all, a good stay!

I stayed with my son (aged 4) for 1 night so he could see the Natural History Museum. This hotel was very clean and comfortable. The room was small, but had plenty of space for the 2 of us. He really like the tiny little shower en-suite. The location was perfect - just 5 minutes walk from Marble Arch and the price was really good for a double en-suite in central London. The breakfast was great value for me and FREE for my son - plenty of fruit, toast and cereal. The staff were friendly and efficient. The only complaint I had was that we had an unwanted wake-up call at 6:15 and I could not get back to sleep. The staff were apologetic and I probably would not have slept much more with my son in the room.

A fairly friendly place, with a decent enough room, but I wish I had not tried the evening meal. As I was in London for such a short time I didn't want to go and search out a restaurant I just wanted to have a meal and prepare for my day. The starter was incredibly hot on the outside and not defrosted on the inside. The main course looked as if it had been reheated at least 3 times and swimming in grease. It was inedible. Whether 7 or 27 neither should have been served. I would not dissuade people from staying at the Lincoln, but do make the effort to eat elsewhere.

One of several hotels along this road off of Marble Arch. My room was very small (I could just squeeze myself into the chair at the desk beside my bed, and the shower is tiny), but clean and comfortable. I had a room at the back, so it was quiet (although in the early evening, because it was so hot guests in a room along the corridor wedged their door open and I could hear their TV). Didn't sample the breakfast, although it is cheap, as there are many options for breakfast in this part of London; and likewise I didn't sample the evening meal, which I noticed with interest they are willing to serve until 3am, which might be useful for late arrivals. Would stay again, but all three of the hotels I've tried along this road are very similar and all OK.

A small but clean room for two male colleagues to share on a three day course. Large enough to sleep in but not really enough room to do any work in the evenings.
The "en-suite bathroom" was a plastic wardrobe which contained both toilet and shower - excellent if you wanted to save time and have a shower at the same time as going to the loo - but more than a little cramped.
I have stayed in larger rooms for less money, but admittedly it was clean and well presented. A possible compromise hotel if bathrooms don't really matter to you.

The location of the hotel is convenient near the big shopping streets and Hyde park, but the room and built-in bathroom is very cramped. In combination with the lack of an elevator, this hotel is definitely not recommended for older or less agile people. We were staying on the fourth floor and saw no fire escape - is that permitted in the UK? If anything would happen, you would have to go down four floors through a very narrow staircase.

The only critisism i may have is that there was not a lift and our room was on the 3rd floor and the stairs were quite steep, could have been worse though...there were 2 more floors above us! Also, the Christmas decorations were still up and this was on the 13th of January..very bad luck!

Our stay at this hotel was a good experience. It was reasonably priced and the triple room was spacious and clean. There was filtered mineral water on the landing for guests to drink. The breakfasts were fabulous and children eat free.
I was a little disappointed though as I happened to leave a library book behind and when I asked for it to be returned, I was told that I would be charged a 5 handling charge as well as the postage. I did think that this was a little tight and told them to leave it as the book was only worth 7.99. A little goodwill would have made this a perfect stay for us but unfortunately I am now left a little disappointed. BUT overall a good hotel just don't leave nothing behind.

I arrived to find five people busily cleaning the public areas. The welcome and instructions on security etc. were clear and quickly done. Immaculate small room with a double bed and a modern en-suite unit that offered a good shower. Usual refreshment facilities at a generous level. TV. Good decor and perfectly clean and tidy. Breakfast room absolutely fine but it was unclear whether I could have the choice of a cooked breakfast or a continental one - I appeared to only be offered the latter - but ti was substantial with a mix of eggs, choice of ham or cheese, toast, croissant and fruit, usual preserves and butter. Easy check-out and everyone very helpful. Slight language problems at times but easily overcome. Excellent value at 75 for a comfortable room with all that one needs for a stay.
This was a fantastic hotel to stay in. It was our first visit to London. We flew into Stanstead Airport, got on the train to Liverpool St. and then the underground to Marble Arch. Just 5 minutes down the road was the hotel. The hotel is very well maintained, beautiful flowers on the outside, giving a lovely impression of the hotel. The brasses are polished, again a lovely touch even before you go inside. The rooms are very nice, spotless with towels changed each day. We had a double room with a shower, TV and video, tea making facilities. Breakfast was great. Choice of Continental, English, Vegetarian or Vegan. Staff are very friendly. The receptionist was great with his information, telling us which bus to get to different sites. Definitely would recommend this hotel. Can't wait to go back again. Ask the receptionist to direct you to the area of St. Christopher's Place, a great area to eat in, so many different restaurants and just 5 minutes down the road.

Simply how it is...
I read the reviews beofre I booked and thought i would try my luck. I have stayed in several hotels throughout 54 countries & the Lincoln House Hotel is a good average hotel.
Negative points: Reception down stairs & there were alot of stairs to climb to the rooms in the 40's. I was nearly charged an addtional 3 for using a debit card as they thought it was a credit card. Cigarette burns in the blanket was a bit off putting. I ordered a wake up call for 06:00 which I never recieved. That was very poor! Although I heard the phone in the room next door go at 06:10. I ordered a taxi for 06:45 which came extra early. The reception door was locked so couldnt really check out. I had severe doubts about this taxi and well frankly think it was a friend of someone at the hotel. It did not know where its was going and I had to direct the driver who charged me for the whole journey. Unfotunately I didnt have the time to complain as clients were waiting for me at my destination. BEWARE!
Positive points: Decent price room for London. Bathroom small but very clean. Aircon worked. TV worked. Room was fresh and clean. Entrance area is beautiful.
For a leisure holiday in London where a cheap, clean room room is required this is a good choice. I could not stay there again as although I was awake missing a wake up call after specifically requesting one is very poor.
Hope this helps!
This was a small B&B not a hotel. Our room was on the 4th floor with no lifts up narrow stairways. My bed had a broken leg so was wobbly. The bathroom was TINY, the whole batrooom was completly plastic, it seemed like it was made for a small boat!

I'd say its a B&B rather than a hotel. One positive is that the location is good - very handy for Oxford Street. i booked it as there was little availability in London so had little choice - I wouldn't choose it normally. The bathroom was "different" - very compact!

I was happy with the hotel - it is 5-10 minutes' walk from Oxford Street, friendly and quaint (I agree with previous comments about the stairs but am young and only had an overnight bag so this wasn't much of an issue!). I found it a useful base in which to drop my shopping off and would happily stay there again - it wasn't expensive for central London.

Unbelievably small room. I thought I'd walked into a broom cupboard. Hopeless.

Such nice people running this hotel. I had an early morning appointment, leaving before the dining room opened for breakfast, and so they arranged a tray with breakfast for me, c.6am. Excellent service in a nice family run hotel.

Location was good, just off Oxford Street, and 10 minutes from Bond St tube (good Central & Jubilee Line connections.)
Staff very friendly.
Room quite small, bathroom tiny (shower very squashed) but this is to be expected in London.
I was upgraded to a triple from a single, which was nice - my room was on the third floor which was quite a trek with a heavy case.
Wireless internet did not work in my room on my first night, but this was rectified quickly once reported.
Breakfast was pleasant.
I would certainly consider staying here again.

The LIncoln House is a small hotel very much with a friendly, family run atmosphere. The rooms are of a decent size for central London although the bathrooms would be far from adequate if your favourite passtime was the swinging of the proverbial cat! Not ideal if you're allergic to stairs as these were somewhat testing especially if you were destined for the fourth floor. Otherwise resaonable value for money in an ideal location.
