V central, old fashioned accomodation

This hotel is very central and was excellent value for money thru late rooms. However the room which actually was a mini suite was very tired and dated nothing like the photo. It obviously hadn't been decorated since the mid seventies, this actually didn't really bother us as we were just looking for a bed. It was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The television (in the sitting room) not in the bedroom, i do prefer to watch Tv in bed in an hotel, didn't work but the staff fixed it quickly. They are obviously renovating as there was scaffolding outside and the smell of paint and sound of builders was a little disruptive at 8 am. But paying £77 for that much space in Knightsbridge cannot be argued with definitely excellent at that rate, but wouldn't have been at all happy to pay £250 usual price.

Don't believe the pictures

Don't believe the pictures the hotel is shabby and outdated, my room did not look like any of the pictures shown. It was cheap £66 but that is for a reason, you would never pay the asking price to stay here, fortunately I had only booked one night if I had booked two I would have left after the first night. How they get away with calling this four star I do not know!!! If you paid the recommended £675 for a room which I am sure they never actually charge you would be suicidal.

Grim stuff

This was possibly once a nice hotel with friendly customer service....
My room (allegedly a "superior" double) had certainly seen better days. Highlight was turning the shower on, stepping in and getting wet, only for the water flow to cease after ten seconds. I re-tried, repeatedly, but to no avail. Reception didn't answer the phone, so I trudged downstairs only to be told that there was no chance of getting maintenance given the hour (it was all of 8 in the evening). I suspected that I was not the first occupant to complain. I was however offered the chance to move to a cheaper single room, but with no refund of the price difference.
Eventually the compromise was reached where I could stay in my room, but travel up 4 flights of stairs to take a shower in another room (which I would have jumped out of the window of had I been forced to stay in it).
I have stayed in worse places, but not for a very very long time (and as for the "headline" £800+ price - a complete joke)

Unbelievably poor!

Was told on arrival That they were over booked and that I would have to be moved to their sister hotel. It was gone 7pm and I was travelling alone and had chosen that location specifically for my meeting the next day and the wifi in the room as I had work to do that night. I asked why i hadnt been contacted earlier in the day and told about the situation and they couldn't answer. I asked f this happens a lot as I had read a review on the website that this had happened to other guests so they clearly make a habit of overbooking. I didnt have a choice to move but another girl behind reception told me that the other hotel was nicer than this one and that it would be fine!! I arrived at their sister hotel Tophams, and was shown to my room which was tiny and had no bathroom, which I was expected to share with other people on that floor! 4 star London luxury I don't think so! I asked for a refund and they said I could have a room at their sister hotel but there would be no wifi! I asked for my money back and they said I couldn't have a refund. I said that if I couldn't have what I paid for then I would be asking for a one! Eventually the girl told me she could offer me another room in the hotel, which earlier she had told me she didn't have, and made it seem as though she was doing me a huge favour! I was put in a small double with a bathroom, on the smoking floor, there was water damage on the wall from the bathroom upstairs, a large hole in the glass on the window and the walls were paper thin and I could hear my neighbours talking on their phones in the adjacent rooms. All in all the experience was very poor and I feel sorry for anyone booking on Late rooms and having a similar experience. Check directly with the hotel that they have got space for your old be my advice.

Appalling. This is only a 4 star in possibly the worst hotel in London.

Horrible. Lights were flashing on and off in the rooms - we were told this happens when they are cooking?!? Dents and holes in walls. Threadbare carpets. Not even funny. Bright overhead lighting. No proper shower - shall I go on ......???

Worth the discounted rate..

I booked online through laterooms and paid £99.96. On arrival at the hotel the rooms are advertised at £890!
I was happy to pay the £99.96 for the room but would have been very disappointed had I paid full price.
The ceiling above the shower was damp and you could see the paint was peeling.
The rooms themselves were also very dark & lighting was not adequate!
I would stay again, but would not pay the full room rate as it doesn't give good value for money!

My stay in the hotel

The hotel in general was shabby, carpets in the stair well , old and worn out and should be replace. The furniture is the lounge was old ,tatty, and look like it came from a 2nd hand shop. My main concern was security. They gave me the wrong keys to me room, so late at night someone got a real surprise!! Thier reaction was to say it would also open my correct room!!! which it did.

Perfectly Fine

I stayed at this hotel for one night on Thursday 1st March 2012 and had room 54 on the fifth floor. Having booked it and then read the Trip Adviser reviews I was rather nervous as to what I would find, but was pleasantly surprised. The room was a single one but a good size with a queen sized bed. Bathroom was also a good size and the shower was excellent. Everything was clean and nothing to complain about at all. I wouldn't stay here for a special occasion or a holiday but for a night in town for work it was ideal and a great location. I didn't have breakfast as went to Starbucks around the corner.

Knightsbridge Green Hotel Great Location but needs TLC.

Hotel is in a fantastic location.
However, the photographs of the rooms must have been taken some time ago!!!
it is all very tired and needs some TLC, it is a crying shame that it has been left unmaintained as it has the most amazing lift that must date back to the 1920's and the intricate iron work on the stairs around the lift shaft is spectacular, but the threadbare carpet and the filthy nets on the windows are just nasty.
The room we had was what i would class as a standard double, no hangers in the wardrobe, kettle dirty cups didnt match, windows could do with a clean, bathroom tiles need grouting and scrubbing and the curtains need a good wash.
Bed linen was crisp and clean, and the bed very comfy, the shower was great, we were facing away from main road and it was very quiet, minimal supply's of tea and coffee only decaf and earl grey in the pot?? so not a great start for a coffee lover, breakfast was lovely, delivered on time and well presented, thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Guest directory is out of date, and all stationery is photocopied with no care for presentation.
All in all, the location is great and the room was ok, but this property could be so much more, its very sad, it could be a real Gem of a Property with very little effort, attention to detail a lick of paint and good clean scrub.
I would stay here again as the location is just perfect, but my expectations will be substantially lower next time.

GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY GIVEN LOCATION, BUT NOT 4*

We had made the mistake of booking before reading the reviews, however after reading them we weren't sure what to expect. 5 mins from Knightsbridge tube, 5 minutes to the Knightbridge area, can't fault the central location. Lobby area was okay, what was a little concerting was being asked for a £50 pounds deposit for the room key. After reading previous reviews, we asked to see the room before we checked in, staff understood, didn't question and is was arranged. On the 6th floor lift went up to 5th only, however no problem unless you have disability as the stairs from 5 to 6 fairly narrow. Lift and carpets a little tired, however, nothing overly wrong. Room was well laid out and much bigger than what we expected. Bathroom was clean, no issues with number of towels, soap, shampoo, toilet paper as previous reviews, shower worked well, so did the toilet. Took 5 mins to get hot water, but again not overly bothered about that and not the end of the world. Bathroom did have a working hairdryer, also bedroom did have a working fridge. Double bed was comfortable, plenty of coat hangers and a safe (Again think previous reviews either exaggerated or were unlucky). Bed room area was a little tired, could do with a paint job, however, it was clean, working and no issues. Furniture in the bedroom a little tired, but did have a small working tv with freeview. So we were okay with the room, but recognized it wasn't 4*. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and very friendly, they even went out of there way to help us find where we were going without even being asked, very polite, equally very understanding with our initial worries given previous reviews. They even recommended a good french restaurant, 2 mins away, equally a close Italian and a closer steak house. Breakfast was a good sized continental, plenty of hot croissants, toast, jam, butter, cereal, yogurt, orange juice, tea and a pot of coffee, no fault there, equally delivered to the room on time, and still hot. If you want a full English you don't get it, however plenty of places around the hotel that serve it. Free wifi was a real bonus and unexpected, it worked well and was fast, albeit you needed wireless connectivity. This is a hotel with shed loads of potential, with a little investment in the infrastructure, room furniture and paintwork could easily add to the ratings. Other than these there is little wrong with it. value for money certainly given location, although I'd understand people's comments if they had to stay for a long period. not 4*, however a reasonable 3* was what we thought and given the location you couldn't question that. Would we go again, yes definitely, equally no hesitation booking.

Beautiful room given it was right in the middle of Knightsbridge and we had it on a massively discounted rate. If I had paid the standard rate of £600 I would NOT have been happy though. There was damp patches on the ceilings, the showerhead was covered in limescale and the blinds didn't shut properly.
Also there was no coffee and milk in the room just a kettle, tea and sugar. Only half a toilet roll left which meant my mum had to go downstairs in her pjs to request more! We asked for a few bottles of water to be sent up which we never got and the 'continental breakfast' was somewhat of a joke!

Strictly weekend

The hotel was convenient for the tube
We chose it because it was an exceptionally good deal in a high class area of London.
The price shown on the desk was around £850 night
This must be because of the area as it would never be worth it in another location.
The price we paid through Late Rooms was as much as it was worth.
The decoration was very poor with major paint problems in the bathroom with what appeared to be a water leak.
There was only 2 coathangers in the wardrobe and when we asked for more we recievd another 2.
There was only 3 loose tea bags available, no milk and no coffee.
However the bed was large and comfortable with a very good TV and recption.

4 star plus Not!

My partner and I booked this lovely looking Knightsbridge hotel via laterooms.com for a pleasure/business trip. On the web, it appeared to live up to its billing as a luxurious, 4* plus, boutique hotel.
Reality was Far from it. I would give it two stars at most.
The tatty condition of the lobby should have raised the alarm immediately, but the staff were pleasant and friendly, and assured us that the room would be as lovely as promised.
Sadly, it wasn't! From the ancient, but not trendily so, cage lift, to the overall appearance, the whole place was just downtrodden, scruffy, tatty, dirty!!
Specific issues raised with the staff were:
no in-room wifi
no hair drier
Dirty tiling to bathroom
Bathroom floor covering lifting, cracked and dirty
Furniture of poor quality and badly scuffed
Mattress worn out
Continental breakfast for two was what would normally be provided for One!! They gave us a mini caffitiere, which, when empty after sharing between us, had no coffee grounds in it!!!! Instant perhaps?
The breakfast tray had no plates, no meats, no cheeses even!!
All in all, terrible, awful, not worth £80 even at London rates.
This establishment probably contravenes the Trades Descriptions Act
The website and descriptions are seriously misleading.

Disgraceful

The Knightsbridge Green Hotel was the venue for my years anniversary with my girlfriend. I booked this hotel under the impression that i was getting a bargain. Apart from the excellent location this hotel was anything but a bargain. You enter the Knightsbridge Green Hotel to a less than impressive hallway and reception area. I could already tell it was in desperate need of some TLC, this was the nicest part of the Hotel. Our room was on the first floor, and instead of taking the 18th century lift we walked up the tight and dingy staircase to be greeted by a first floor that looked nothing like the ground floor. The decor looked like it had been muddled together by someone stuck in the 1970's with a very low budget. None of the furniture matched and looked like it had come out of the skip used by the workmen rebuilding the neighboring establishment. Needless to say if you are after a cold shower this hotel is perfect for you, we had no hot water throughout our entire stay. Having said that a cold shower was very refreshing, the room was almost unbearably hot due to the pointless air conditioning unit that was far too small for the room it was trying to cool. So, after not bothering with breakfast I took great delight checking out, knowing that i will never be returning to the Knightsbridge Green Hotel.

I didn't check the reviews until after booking so was a bit wary when I read them! I thought it can't be that bad and we are only staying one night. We were pleasantly suprised. We were upgraded to a suite on arrival, we had a twin bedroom with a lounge, large sofa table and chairs (which we had breakfast at). Plus points, staff very friendly, great location for shopping, harveys nics and Harrods round the corner, good price on late rooms, less than £100 in Knightsbridge! Breakfast delivered to your room, on time (I'm not a morning person so breakfast in pyjamas a definate bonus) on the down side, bathroom floor tiles were shabby and window blinds in need of repair, not a major deal for us tho, overall a great stay for the money. An unwelcome greeting from the receptionist who made us wait for 45 minutes whilst she finalised the details although the room was already paid for. The reception room where we waited was furnished with shabby furniture and I was praying that this was not an indication of the quality of our guest room. Finally we were given the keys and on entering I wanted to imediately return them to reception and demand a refund. The room was double not the twin room I requested, the bed did not have any type of cover just a sheet and thin blanket. The net curtains were filthy dirty as was the window sill. The entire room was of poor standard, every piece of furniture chipped and/or required painting. The compilmentary tray was obviously just thrown together (maybe we were last on the room rota) with a pretty useless old kettle and I had to scout around the hotel for extra milk and teabags. There was no hot water available in either the hand basin or the shower. A lampshade was broken as was the light above the mirror and the breakfast tray which we received in the morning ( I had to call reception to request a menu as we were not informed when we checked in to the hotel of the breakfast proceedure) arrived without side plates so we use saucers just to speed up our checking out process, we could not wait to leave. No hairdryers, no stationary these are minor things but when you have chosen a 4 star luxury hotel these items are usually expected. My biggest gripe with the Green Hotel is the misrepresentation that appears on the website of the fabricated standard and quality of the hotel. I felt cheated, foolish and sad that I had chosen and paid for this just simply awful establishment.

WHAT DID THE BEST REVIEW SAY?

For being this central in London - it was an amazing spot - but we did get it very last minute so a good price too. Had stayed at a chain the night before but thought that this was 10 times better! The bathroom was lovely - big - great bath/shower and huge mirror. 4 poster and plenty of room with good facilities.
