Having stayed in budget hotels around Earls Court and Kensington I was expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Maybe I was lucky because I was given a 3 bed room even though I was a lone traveller.
The room was rather tired but clean. The window didn't shut very well so was draughty, however the convector heater supplied kept me warm (the normal radiator and air con unit didn't appear to work). The shower room could have been cleaner (some signs of black mould in the grout) and there was no hook for the shower, so you have to hold the shower in one hand whilst operating the shower gel and shampoo with the other. Not a major problem, but one that would have been easily dealt with. Perhaps the owner is not aware that this could be a problem. Only other major criticism is poor fire exit signage and clutter (vacuum cleaners and sheets etc) in the corridor. I would strongly recommend the owner dealt with this as this is a health and safety issue, as a vacuum cleaner and its' hose had been left right across the corridor outside my room.
On a positive note, the staff were friendly and the receptionists cheerful and helpful. I would stay again if I was on a tight budget. The breakfast was perfectly adequate for me (toast, jam, tea/coffee, OJ, hard boiled eggs and cheese), so no complaints there. It's not 4 star but is competitively priced, so I guess you make your choice.
