When my sister and I got off the tube we had no idea where the hotel was. We eventually found it, but we where both put off by an man smoking on the steps. The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly. Before going up to our rooms, we decided to have a drink in the Bar. There wasn't anybody on the bar but there was the smoker sitting in one of the rooms reading a paper. I asked at reception if there was anybody 'on the bar', then this particular man came to serve us. He had to go off to get some tonic. Once we had our drinks, he went out of the front door for another smoke. I don't think this gives your establishment a very good image. Also we had to wait in a queue for our breakfast which was very limited. The rooms where clean and comfortable.

This hotel promises a lot in its description. Reception staff are not welcoming but do follow the technicallities of check in without any recognition of customer experience. The room was shoe box size. You can't actually sit on the toilet and get your legs under the basin. There are only flimsy blinds on the windows so all the light comes in and it is noisy as there is no secondary glazing. Bedding was clean but bed was lumpy. Breakfast okay with limited choice and cheap products e.g. cheap muesli<br />I could find no link between the pictures and promises on the website and what is actually delivered.

On arrival I asked for details about room service. I was told there was a folder with details in my room. I had looked for one, there was not. I was then told that during the hours the bar was open, I could get drinks delivered to the room. When I asked about food the reply from the receptionist was: "Well, we can phone for a pizza if you like, or there's a supermarket across the road and we can give you a knife and fork."
When I asked about internet connection - I was given an access code, but there is only wireless reception on the ground floor. So I had to sit in the lobby with people walking past whilst I checked my emails!
The room was fine, not noisy, and was quite comfortable, but small and a bit shabby. Our 'double' was two single beds put together, my other half spent most of his time stuck down the crack in the middle. Also the duvet didn't reach all the way across.
Also, one evening we came back at around midnight to find no towels in the room. A grumpy receptionist did however bring some up for us.
In short: the hotel is pleasant and in a good location, but definitely not worth the money I paid, and the staff we less than helpful.

The shower was too litle and slippery. I am a normal size guy but it was extremly difficult for me to use the toilett because the basin was fixed just very close to it. My complaint was not listened: they did not offer me alternative room. I guess that nothing will change until somebody will be injuried in this minor rooms due to the lack of place. Not recommended

We had stayed here before and after having problems finding a reasonable hotel in London decided to return. We also decided to pay 30 extra for the superior room, thinking it would be worth it for a larger bed and better bathroom. The hotel is very conveniently located near Gloucester Road tube station but on arrival our room left a lot to be desired. The room was small with two twin beds joined together (not great for a romantic break!). The bathroom was awful, just a tiny shower cubicle with a random spray - the hand towels were dirty. We did go downstairs to check if it was definitely a superior room and were told "yes". Certainly not "roomy with an air of luxury!"<br />Free wi-fi is only in the lobby, not in the rooms. The staff were helpful and allowed us to leave our bags both days before and after checkout - however if I ever went back I would definitely not pay extra for the superior room - I will try my best to find another hotel with better value.

My main criticism was the unprofessional attitude of the staff. We were just given a sheet to fill in on arrival and told where our room was -- surely a smile isn't too much to ask for. We stayed for 3 nights and not once did we feel welcome. The staff serving breakfast were also very unfriendly.

Quite well placed for the Albert Hall but I trusted the quite ignorant Hotel Staff to book me a taxi (I was told it was a private hire cab and if I didn't like this arrangment I would have to hail one on the street) when it came it had no taxi plate, the driver had no I.D, spoke no english and it was only because I needed to be somewhere I got in it. After a 3 minute drive he charged me 8 !!! So be warned, don't ask them to book one for you. Don't be fooled by the photo's on the website, it looks nothing like this. The room was poor, it reminded me of student accommodation. Room was also very noisy, the old windows are like paper so you feel like you're sleeping outside. The roadworks outside the window made the noise unbearable so I was glad to leave. Even though it's cheap there are better places to stay.

I was disappointed with my overall stay. The photos look great on the website and I chose to stay in a Double Deluxe room. It took a while to get in the door to begin with, then I was quite amazed by the room. It was actually twin beds pushed together. The room seemed wuite small, and the bathroom - well, it was the size of a matchbox! My chin was virtually on the sink when using the toilet. Very uncomfortable. The noise from outside was constant, therefore I had no sleep whatsoever. There was a lack of plug sockets. I had to move the kettle from the table to the TV, just plug it in. No biscuits either! The bar was different, though there didn't seem to be much atmosphere. The lack of any snacks available (Ie. none) was disappointing. The only thing I enjoyed about the stay was it was a short walk to the tube station!

This hotel is trying to be trendy but cannot seem to get the basic rights. For starters it was not clean, I ran my finger down the inside of the window in my room and my fingertip was black. The carpets were stained and the walls are marked and lift is dusty and dirty. The hotel is also very noisy. I had a room overlooking the main road which was very noisy. This is obviously beyond the hotel's control but there was no attempt to dampen the sound. There is no double glazing and no curtains. Just some cheap wooden blind that does nothing for the noise. Most remarkably, there was no coffee or tea making facilities in the room, unbelievable for a hotel of this price. Other small things make the hotel seem shabby, door handles coming loose, greasy light switches etc. This hotel really needs to get the basics right before it can be anywhere near value for money. On a positive note the lounge area downstairs looked nice and modern, but I was in no mood to untilise it. I just wanted to leave the hotel.

I must say that I enjoyed my stay...
I must say that I enjoyed my stay (three nights in April 2005). Room was indeed a bit small, but the big bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast and coffee was good, too.

My two complaints are: (1) the closet should have shelves to put ones clothes and other items (closet had no shelves at all) and (2) the bathroon could use a towel rack/hanger, especially for the hand towel(s). One hook behind the bathroom door is not nearly enough, especially with two people in the room.

But all in all, I had a great stay. And it is just a five-minute walk from the Gloucester Road subway station. Very convenient. Restaurants and a grocery store nearby, too.

I've seen a lot of London hotels and think this one really stands out. Had a wonderful two week stay. Had booked an "urban suite" but downgraded when I got there b/c the less expensive rooms were just as nice. The beautiful Victorian building provides high ceilings with wonderful crown moulding. The beds are large with nice fluffy white duvets and pillows. My 2nd floor room had floor to ceiling glass french doors for windows. These features, together with a small but clean modern bath and really sweet staff made for a bright, airy, comfortable room that I was happy to call home for 2 weeks. It's true the staff is on the young and inexperienced side, but they are very nice and they do know what they're doing--they handled changes with my room booking with fine competence. Lastly, the ground floor bar area is a nice place to relax in the evening. Great Indian food and internet cafe across the street. 2 min walk to Gloucester tube. Need I say more?

Thanks.
I just came back from London, stayed two nights in kensington rooms hotels.
It was nice but some effort needs to be done on the cleaning part.
Very young people with little hotel management experience seem to be
running the hotel.
It is a pitty because all this hotel needs is a bit of professionalism and
some work in the bathroom and possibly tea in the room like the holiday
INN.
Thanks for the bookings

The room was too small, the minimalist style even in the room is a bit too much.Too Bare. A street side room without double glazing is very very noisy, especially on a saturday night!!
The beds were good, the linen clean, but hardly any space to walk an move around. Location perfect, but with such a small room not really value for money.

had an interior double room on 2 level. Street noise was minimal. Rooms not sound proof so if you're speaking louder than usual, sneezing, blowing your nose, etc., your next door neighbours could hear! Sheets were clean. The shower was very small. Bed was a good size but area to move about within the room is limited. Overall a pretty neat hotel with easy access to tube, Knightsbridge, supermarket

I think the hotel was excellent value for the price I paid considering some other hotels I have visited in London.
It's small but the beds are comfortable and smart.
I like the modern image and thought the staff were friendly and helpful.

Great potential but poorly executed The first room...
Great potential, but poorly executed. The first room we were offered was so small, you pratically had to enter sideways; to open a suitcase would have been impossible. After checking out their "Urban Studio", which was actually a normal size room, but compared to their regular rooms big indeed, we were changed to a slightly bigger room. No water during our stay for one night and a whole day, which also affected the heating and that at the end of November. The linen was average and we only had 2 towels. It could be a great hotel with more attention to the details. Location is great with only a 2 min. walk to the tube, where you have 3 lines.
