Very impressed with the staff and welcome, Excellent customer service, brilliant location. Very quiet even though full,Was not aware that the spa was extra fee and went for the lower standard room because I thought facilities included so compromised. We did not have a lot of free time so it was not worth paying £8 each for a swim.

This is a great location for the Albert Hall but don't be tempted to stay here. The hotel is geared up to the tourist trade and the prices reflect that. There's even a service charge at the hotel bar!!! The room was tiny and the bed was wedged up against a wall.If you're looking for a London hotel avoid these tourist traps and look for a boutique hotel instead.

Booked a room for myself and my 18yr old son, just as somewhere to sleep whilst out on the pop and attending football. Room was pokey to say the least. Leisure club facilites reasonable, although hot-tub was a tad on the small side, the 2 of us almost filled it (3 would have been a squeeze). Not impressed by 15% Service Charge within the bar. Happy to pay Service Charge if I am served at a table etc, but when I walk in, stand at the bar to order drinks (as there were no staff around), the barman then simply had to push the drinks a few inches to my hand. In my opinion does not warrant service. From what I recall, it was not itemised on the bill. It was only when we sat down and flicked the menu, I realised what had occurred as it was listed there.Location good though, just around the corner from High St Kensington Tube station. I've stayed in better in London for similar prices.

The rooms booked through Laterooms were not 4 Star quality, small, tired and shabby is the best way to describe the room. The location is very good although the nearest Tube (kensington High Street) is on a branch line and not served as ofter as other Tube Station. The room description however does make it clear that it is a small room. You get what you pay for here and not a real bargain as first suspected.

The reception at this hotel was very good. The room was rather small, though adequate. It was very quiet which was a big plus. The room thermostat (adjustable?) showed 29º but luckily was nothing like that or it would have been intolerable. The bed was smallish but we slept well on the hardish mattress which suited us. Breakfast was similar to other hotels, but there was an excellent choice of foods. The hot food was only lukewarm , and the bacon soggy but excellent scrambled eggs. As we were both out all day and in the evenings we didn't take lunch or dinner in the hotel. There was an excellent shower in the bathroom. Minor quibble was that I tipped over the wastebasket in the bathroom and discovered traces of blood at the bottom which hadn't been cleaned, an unsavoury find.

I had an enjoyable stay that was only tarnished by a 15 minute wait on check out. This would have been acceptable if there was a queue, however there was only one guest in front of me and one on the desk. There seemed to be front office staff rushing in and out of the back office avoiding eye contact. I was late for a meeting as a result.

Having CLEARLY booked a Double, on arrival we were told there wasn't one. On a Complaint to the manager seemed to solve the problem for us and presumably pass it on to someone else. The room was very small but clean and it worked. No hair dryer in the room and they seemed to think that we had stolen it although we had only just checked in. The constant knoocking on the door in the morning to make up the room was an anoyance but nothing like the Fire ALARM ( False alarm) when we were in the shower !!!!.NOT recommended for a Relaxing Break

Some of the smallest doubles I've come across - feels more like a ship's cabin. However, clean and comfortable and good location. This is a proper hotel rather than a glorifed B&B and has lots of rooms. The hotel is solidly built and has proper walls so you can't hear the neighbours - a bonus for central London at this price. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Don't pay more than £70 for a double though.

The only doubtful aspect of the hotelis the lack of a 'middle range' eating place where one can be 'quiet' without tv's or play stations. The 2 available restaurants are ok. 1 is expensive where the staff could do with retraining. They need to attend properly and not clear the table after the first course without asking if any more courses would be required. I could go further...The 2nd is fine for 'Sporty' people but not for the 'average' middle aged or single ladies that can offord the hotel. We would like to have a wider choice of traditional english dishes as well as those offered in the Sport restaurant but quieter!

Having paid to stay in the hotel there should be at least one free swim, if it is necessary to charge at all.The eating facilities in the evening are inadequate. An ordinary restaurant area or buffet would be of great benifit to customers. As it is one has to go out to eat in peace and not be ripped off.

Not bad for the price, though the room was a little small - but that's London for you. What particularly impressed me was breakfast which I had in my room. The room charge of £3 was worth being able to eat bfast while watching the news on the TV. The quality of the food was good and the staff very very helpful. The disappointing thing is that though there is a pool and gym at the hotel, they charge you £8 if you want to use it...that's quite expensive if you just want to pop into the pool for a quick dip.

Both times the fire alarm went off early, it seems it is the way to get guests up early so they can get the rooms cleaned. The bath was stained and peeling, the rooms are tiny and the staff cannot speak hardly any english which results in misunderstanding. Also they add a 15% charge in the restaurant and bar even if you go up to the bar and wait for your drinks. I dont know how they keep their 4* rating as compared to other hotels this is terrible. My friends had complained that their room was cold and when they returned it, the problem was sorted. The staff were very friendly and couldn't be more accommodating for all of us during our stay. There are definately areas of the hotel that need improving, however it looks as though this is in progress and hopefully it continues on throughout! In terms of location, it's literally round the corner and down the street (approx 5mins walk) from High Street Kensington station.

Welcoming hotel in good location. Not the cleanest of rooms, and very small, but adequate. Good atmosphere in the bar.

This was a brilliant location and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The foyer did smell of chips and the signage for the grill and pool etc were not entirely evident. The room, whilst small was well equipt, clean and nicel decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and whilst the service at breakfast was slow and the decaf coffee tasted like hot water, the toast was the best i have ever had in a hotel, anywhere. Please include porridge on your breakfast menu

Given the amount we were charged, the room was very small and had a poor layout, where the end of the bed was too close to the wall, meaning there was very little room to pass. The English Breakfast was quite greasy.

I managed to leave some important papers in my room when I checked out. I was impressed that after I reported this to the hotel, the housekeeper phoned me back the same today to confirm te papers had been found, and sent them to me immediately, charging only 75p postage for this excellent service.

Reception was busy upon arrival, but I was served quickly. Staff were helpful, and well-presented. Lovely Irish porter carried my luggage - little touches like that make all the difference! Hotel has a fairly nostalgic feel (lots of brass, deep red carpets etc), but is tired in places (some of the carpets especially). Room on the second floor was OK, but, as to be expected when booking a last minute room, not the biggest. Slightly bizzarre in shape, but large single bed and ensuite with bathtub/shower quite sufficient. View onto internal courtyard not exactly picturesque, but I was there for business so no problem. I was however woken early in the morning by some very loud music and noise coming from the staff staircase/fire escape stairs that ran behind my room. Wireless not cheap but available in rooms, with one or two computers for general internet use in the lobby (about £1/10minutes). Bill settled upon leaving, although I imagine you coul ask to do it earlier if you knew you would be leaving in a hurry. All in all, a pleasant stay.

Myself and my partner decided to stay at the Kensington Close Hotel as we had a works party to attend in London. I felt the quality and appearance of the hotel was extremley poor. The room was very small and i asked for a kingsize room! THe breakfast in the moring was cold and over cooked. The drinks and room service was extremley expensive as well as the parking. The staff were rude and not very helpful. The TV did not work properly and kept on loosing signal!

Although I checked in earlier than 2pm, I was allocated a room there and then, however whilst my credit card was being swiped the receptionist's colleague allocated my room to another guest checking in after me. I was advised to wait and check in again later when another room would be available and told that I was booking in early anyway.I would not have wanted to pay the full price for this room and think it was definately not worth more than the price that I paid. The bathroom was cramped and the toilet was in a very narrow space with very little room either side. My daughter and I were woken up by very noisey neighbours at 5.30am and when I mentioned this to receptionist on checking out, he made nothing of it. It was then that I realised in hindsight I should have phoned down to the reception at the time of the disturbance. When meeting a friend in the bar area, I thought it smelled of stale beer and did not feel like sitting in there for a drink.

Stayed 2 nights, First room I was shown had peeling paint, had to pay an extra £30 per night to upgrade to another room. I was bitten several times by bed bugs which despite having marks the management refused to believe. I was offered a reduced rate next time!!!I assured them there wont be one!! This apart, the room was extremely noisy and had no tv reception.

I was slighty put-off by some of the reviews I read on this Hotel but I booked anyway because the location was just where I needed to be (2 mins from District/Circle line tubes).I have to disagree with some other reviewers ... the room was a compact single but it had everything I needed and the overall impression of the Hotel was 3-4 stars (in my view).I DID accept the invitation to dinner (along with a free glass of wine) and my view is that service was competent; food well presented; and really reasonably priced. Next evening I ate in the Bar and found that just as satisfactory, only more "relaxed".During my stay I did visit the Spa (that was the real reason I ignored the iffy reviews); staff were friendly and helpful; the pool was clean and just big enough to really swim in; the sauna was new and really good; and the jacuzzi pleasant. The steam room smelled a bit but was otherwise very good. I also used the sun-bed and only wished I had time for some of the beauty therapy that was on offer. The view from my window was into the back streets of Kensington and (as this was a large building) that was an interesting aspect. All in all I had a very good stay and will DEFINATELY be visiting again; I may even use the venue to meet with clients; the Hotel has very comprehensive Conference facilities but a coffee lounge that is obviouly successful for users as a place to meet for interviews etc. There is a car park next to the Hotel but there is a £30 per 24 hr charge; if you arrive after 6pm and will leave early in the morning you could get lucky and park in a side road near-by.Thank-you to ALL staff at the Kensington Close.

Advertised as a £270+ room but with discount to £67.50 per night. 100% NOT a £270 room. The hotel and room were nice and adequate. But if you are expecting a room worth the advertised price then you will be disappointed. The roomwas small, bath tiny, if you are obese then you wont be able to take a crap as the toilet space is miniscule. The bed was comfy. No spare blankets, or pillows in room. No mini bar. VERY expensive internet.I will stay again. Close to Kensington High Street tube and easy to get to. It is unfortunalely within the congestion charge zone.

Got a good price - c. £65, room very very small. Fine as I was really only sleeping in it but would not have been possible to work out of the room even for a few hours. Couldn't use the desk as the bed was so close I couldn't pull the chair back even six - eight inches. Reception staff OK but not great. No bar / coffee area to meet people in during the day. Location was pretty good - 2 min walk from Earls Court tube & very clean.

I have used this hotel for over 25 years and knew it very well in its good days! this is at best a bed factory full of coach parties/tours and block bookings. Zero interest from the staff in anything that you have to say to them - abrupt eastern europeans who never smile and have great difficulty understanding your requests or comments. Bedroom was like a shoebox - you couldn't walk around the bed - it was the width of the room. Great shower though and the showerroom was spotless! carpets in the bedroom were very old and badly stained - bed had a strange smell and i ended up on top of it and not in it. Breakfast was a disgrace - dreadful overcooked items cheap bacon and cholesterol busting sausages - soggy toast, horrible tea (3 times) - at £15 it is an outrage - the look on some peoples faces when the saw the hot buffet!! and the bizarre thing is - there are supervisors that come around and look at all the buffet and pastries and nod as though they are in approval of whats in front of them - what standards are they working to?? we left and went to the cafe nero up the road next to the EMI building. I have had better value many times in the past at this hotel - the General Manager is not fulfilling his primary role here - what a shame!1
