A Ryan Air approach to 'hospitality'

I chose an established brand because I anticipated good service and quality, but had neither.
I had pre-paid through laterooms but was asked to pay again until I pointed out that I had a receipt.
There were basic - mostly minor - faults with the room - main lighting a standard lamp that did not work; bathroom extractor not working, etc but I was too tired by the time I had discovered these problems to ask the hotel to do anything about it.
Everything about the accommodation was about as basic as you could imagine. But it was fairly clean.
I had asked for a continental breakfast and expected the usual cold meats and cheeses alongside croissants etc - no - Jury don't seem to share my definition of continental.
What really irritated me was to discover that access to the internet is still regarded by this company as an optional extra - at £10 for 24 hours (which is in rip-off territory - even most local pub B&Bs offer free wi-fi nowadays)
I shall not return.

Great Value Hotel

The Jury's Inn Islington bedrooms have been recently refurbished to a lovely standard. The beds are so comfy and the bathrooms are clean and in good condition (the showers are fantastic!). The rooms are large and surprisingly quiet with the window open. I don't think you can go wrong with this hotel; 10 minutes walk from Islington's restaurants - although I will now never need to go further than across the road as Jamie's Italian Kitchen has just opened!! You are about a 10 minute walk from Exmouth Market and about a 25-30 minute walk from High Holborn, Chancery Lane end, so it's close to the city. It is a great hotel, great value, great staff. Love it, will definitely be back.

Good room

Lovely to have a proper bed for our son in the family room instead of the usual camp-bed.
Only one annoyace - £4 for a bottle of water! Does anyone actually but them? Come on, give us a complimentary bottle, or none at all.

Served the purpose

Room was fine for 1 night stay. As this was a late minute deal, then it was value for money but not sure if at full price will feel the same.
very friendly reception staff. On the night of the stay we encountered a fire alarm at 4.20am and apart from following the crowd we weren't sure where to go.
very poor communication of what was going on and was unsure whether any staff was on the premises.
having had an interrupted sleep, which of course was of no fault of the hotel, we found ourselves on the receiving end of 2 knocks on the door during the morning by the cleaners.
taking into account that check out was noon, the cleaners were very persistent and should have been made aware of what room required cleaning.
also felt that at check out some sort of explanation and/or apology should have been expressed.

One night at Jurys Inn Islington

Good staff , decent room , Great Breakfast for £9.95. Only things that let it down are the corridors which I could easily redecorate for very little money and give them a much better appeal , and the slightly seedy area on the edge of up-market Islington , which the hotel can do little about.
I would consider staying again if I could get a reasonable price.

One of the better hotel chains!

Overall this hotel was not too bad. However, Internet should always be included but it wasn't. Breakfast should always be included but wasn't. The room was reasonably clean but there was an overpriced bottle of water offered to buy! (unacceptable!) The food at the bar was overpriced and limited. Staff were generally polite.

Business is better than pleasure

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occations with work, so was quite happy to book for a personal stay, however what i found is that when you stay on business you get the nice executive rooms and this stay involved a horrible room on the 1st floor with a twin and a single in the room.
I would not stay in this hotel again if i was offered this standard of room.

Jurys Inn Islington London Review

Impressed with the room - very clean. Had a proper single bed for my son rather than an uncomfortable sofa bed. Paid attention to detail like having 3 mugs in the room with the complementary coffee/tea - some times hotels do not take the child into account. Fantastic value for the money and conveniently located a few minutes walk from the Angel tube station and local shops/coffee shops. The hotel had bars and restaurant - although we didn't eat there; the menu looked good and seemed child friendly. The only criticism, was the noisy air conditioning we had in the room.
