I made 4 bookings for a family party attending a wedding down the road. I was pleased to get 4 rooms at what appeared to be a very good rate but should have known it was too good to be true!!! It didn't help that 3 months before the stay, one of the bookings (arranged through Laterooms) randomly got charged to our card (it was not a pre-paid for booking). This resulted in a 9pm call from Barclays saying we had fraudulent activity on our account. When I called, they said it wasn't them. I called Barclays back and cancelled my card. It then turned out it was Jurys Inn and they refunded the money and (after 5 days of negotiating) the bank charges. No apology whatsoever. The following are what we view as the positives and negatives of our stay:
Positives
The rooms were ok - clean and tidy
There was little noise, although the traffic was bade first thing
The food was average but uninspired
The cleaners were lovely!
Provided a cot
No parking but reduced rate
Negatives
We arrived at 8pm with a baby and didn't get into our room until 9.30pm as they said we had no booking. Then they said we had already checked in. Then they said our room had been given away. Then we had to prove we knew the other people I had booked rooms for and find out their room numbers to work out which one was our room (!). No apology made.
They told us that in order to charge to our room we had to pay an amount and get it back at the end of the stay. The next morning they wouldn't let us charge to our room and said we had no money on our account. After much discussion, the 'wrong box had been ticked' on our account. No apology.
Some in our party had breakfasts included in their room prices. We ended up paying for these as we had lost the will to live by this point and decided it'd be easier to pay and sort it out later.
My husbands parents paid for our room and another (3 in total), which confused the staff to such an extent, it proved an issue for both nights. They were charged at completely the wrong rate. In fact, more than double what was owed (£797 instead of £316!). This was realised when we went to checkout. Only some has been refunded, we will have to fight to get the rest back after going through all the paperwork once we got home. No apology - and worse, they haven't even told his parents. We have to!!!!
I have never had so many issues in a hotel - we were given only one key card which worked intermittently, the staff had bad attitudes (apart from the cleaners) and we were made to feel as if it was somehow our fault when things went wrong. I have never written a negative review of a hotel before but they have driven me to it! I would not recommend anyone to stay here.
