The room was the size of a shoe box and the walls were made of cartboard. You could hear traffic, underground, neighbours,... The bathroom was the smallest one I have ever seen. The breakfast was miserable. Not worth its price. We were very sorry not to have paid a little more for a decent hotel like Ramada, Holiday Inn or simular.

I stopped here with work colleagues on 12/5/2010 prior to a conference in Kensington the next day. The location of the hotel is excellent - the tube station (Bayswater) is a couple of minutes walk away and there are lots of bars, restaurants shops in the immediate vicinity.First impressions of the hotel were good. The facade is pleasant and there is a seating area outside with tables which (in good weather) would be very nice. Check-in at the hotel was very easy and the staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient. Things get worse from here.....We had booked single rooms on a B&B basis at £75.00 each for one night. The rooms were extremely small and not particularly pleasant. I couldn't open the wardrobe door fully because it opened onto the bed and the furniture was basic and very tired. The TV was an old 14 inch portable with poor reception and a dirty remote control that didn't work properly. The toilet was huge in a very compact bathroom and it would be very difficult for a large person to sit on the toilet comfortably as the wash hand basin overhung the toilet seat. The shower was basic and at 7.00am only provided luke warm water. The tea/ coffee making facilities were basic - shame they only provided the bare minimum with one small milk and one small cream and no biscuits! My room would have overlooked a shabby courtyard but unfortunately it backed onto a brick wall (just a metre from the window) that obscured any possibility of a view. I think the kitchens were nearby because I could hear the constant drone of an industrial extractor unit during the entire stay at the hotel, only drowned out occasionally by the creaking floors in my room and the one next door occupied by my colleague. The corridors were equally shabby with threadbare carpets and scuffed walls.Continental breakfast was served in an inadequately sized dining room on the ground floor. The food - coffee, rolls, cheeses, meats, pastries, jams and cereals (the usual) was okay but it was difficult to move around in the cramped dining room and as there were lots of people staying here you had to be careful that someone didn't jump in your seat while you were fetching a coffee. We were lucky! We entered the dining rooms at 8.00am - just before they stopped allowing access due to high volumes of people trying to take their breakfast.Checkout was easy and the staff were equally as pleasant, helpful and efficient as we left. Well done to them!Overall - not a hotel that I will be returning to in a hurry. I've stayed at the Strand Palace a couple of times at a cheaper rate and in very high quality rooms.

I stayed for two nights. First one, in a single room, and second one in a double. The single one was OK, on the lower groundfloor, but with a very very small bathroom, not even possible to move in there. The bed was comfortable and the room properly clean and provided. Maybe too expensive to be a single room, but London Hotels are like this.. you have got these ones or the typhicals for 200 pounds per night...The double room was much better, facing to the main street, with a bigger bathroom and not too expensive.

Lets be honest - its the smaller parts of the hotel where you can't fit a double bed that is made into a single room - so the room was not large, but was clean and had an en-suite. It was in the basement so the only windows were above head hight that opened at street level (although not directly onto the street.)Good value for money for the cost conscious business user. There was a good 2 courses and a glass of wine offer for £10.And free wi-fi.

It's low cost hotel - so with that caveat it was fine - but don't expect frills. The room was very small, but ok for an overnight stop. The shower was hot, the TV worked and there's free WiFi which is a bonus. The biggest problem is the tube line which runs close by almost at ground level, so it's noisy (starting very early in the morning) and my room rattled everytime a train went by. So don't bank on a long night's sleep!

The hotel was well situated for what we required to do while in London but we were disappointed with the room. the double bed was two singles pushed together and this left little room for moving about. The bath room was a bit tatty . The staff were okay, helpful and friendly. We did not eat at the hotel but the menu looked good . I am 70 my wife 67 and would have preferred more space in the room, there was only about 12inches between the bed and the wall on one side which made it a problem getting in and out of bed.

I would love to review the Hyde Park Towers as a hotel, But I can't.However, I can review the customer service.I had organised a surprise Valentines weekend away with my girlfriend, with a night at this hotel as part of the surprise. We arrived early with the idea we would just check in the luggage and then make our way to the London Eye.On arrival, we were told that 'due to renovation works' we had been upgraded......... to another hotel, and a 'a taxi would be with us in ten minutes to take us to the new hotel'.Forty minutes later, we were still waiting for the taxi and had missed the first part of the London Eye experience! We only just managed to check the luggage into the new hotel and make our designated London Eye 'flight' time!To top off it all off, the hotel we were transfered to, placed us in a very pokey basement room, which appeared unfinished, had no running hot water in the shower and worst of all, fire doors blocked with rubbish bags and the gate to the street chained and padlocked!

I had a single room - smallest room I have ever stayed in draft from metal framed windows right above bed - but room too small to move the bed ! TV quality poor and can hear TV from next room - ok if watching same channel !! However bedding was lovely - soft & clean - reception was very polite and helpfull - really close to tube and I paid less than £50 so not really too upset - however room was not worth any more than this.

As a surprise for my Boyfriends birthday I had booked a table at a lovely restaurant called Zaiki in Kensington and a number of surprise activities in the surrounding area. I wanted a location near so chose Hyde Park Towers for a. Good Price and B. Great location for what I wanted. Upon arrival to the Hyde Park Towers hotel we were very please with its location and the visual aspects of the Hotels exterior and interior. We had several activities booked and set to a time schedule so I was a little thrown when checking in the receptionist said 'congratulations you have been upgraded to a 4 star hotel but in Marylebone, its right next to Madame Tussards' I would have been thrilled for an upgrade if it was not for the fact i specifically booked Kensington so that we would not have to spend a fortune on taxis or wasted time with travel. We complained that we didn’t want an upgrade as the current hotel was fine and in a great location for us and our stay. However they simply said there was no room and had over booked so agreed to pay for our taxi transfer to the next hotel to compensate The hotel had my contact details from the point of booking but did not contact me to inform me of the change, just assumed we would be content with it. We asked to speak to management but we told no manager would be there until Tuesday (today was Saturday) and only the receptionist was there. Upon arrival to the next hotel 'The Suite' in Marylebone we were greeted again by a receptionist who told us no manager was there either. The Hotel was a small but lovely boutique hotel so we did not complain about the quality of hotel just the inconvenience of it all. We asked that we would like the hotel to pay for a taxi from the new hotel back to Kensington in the evening because what would have been a 15 minute short walk was now a £20 taxi fare to us. I would stay at the new hotel again if I was to visit London and want to stay in Marylebone so am annoyed at the Hyde Park towers hotel for the inconvenience they caused to my planned schedule and also the lack of communication received.

the area of the hotel is excellent, but sadly if you like to be able to sleep at night this hotel is not for you, the constant creaking floorboards highlight every movement plus the hotel walls are paper thin so you can actually join in your nieghbours conversations. and also the cark park is a con, the web page states 22 pound a day, we stated 2 nights and it cost us 90 pounds, we will be seeking legal advice on this false advertisement.

Apalling, where do I start!!! I very rarely complain but feel I need to on this occasion. Having booked a double room with Queen size bed for one night only, we arrived to find we were given a twin room! We were offered a second room which was flatly refused as the room was only marginally larger than the bed! the only window in the room didn't shut and was next to a noisy air conditioning unit. The third bedroom looked acceptable at first sight, but once we got in to the room we discovered that even though it was presented as a double, it was two single matresses (with wire edgings) on a double bed base. If that wasn't bad enough, the pillow cases, bed sheets and duvet cover had spots of blood on them!!!!! We requested these be changed while we were out at the theatre. However, on our return late at night the sheets had clearly not been changed as requested! Typically, at that time, there was no one on duty to deal with our complaint seriously. The only person around was the night porter who only on our request changed the sheets, etc, but the service was well below standard. We also discoverd that the arm to the only chair in the room was broken, and that the hair dryer didn't work. In the morning we complained to the Operations Manager who was only prepared/authorised to give us a £25 refund and free breakfast which we relunctantly accepted. Even the fruit juices tasted as though they had been watered down. This has got to be the worst overnight accommodation I've stayed at ever! And ruined our stay in London. Beware: they request payment on arrival and not on departure. We are not choosy people, but will definately definately not be staying at this hotel again. Though we paid £82 which was half the real cost, we still feel cheated and want our money back altogether!!!! GIVE OUR MONEY BACK!!!!!

In an area of either too expensive or too scruffy hotels (Bayswater), this one was perfectly placed...not overly fancy and not too spartan. It was in a charming street just around the corner from Whiteley's, but very quiet. Everything worked well and was what I was hoping for. Right on target, well done.

I think the hotel's website is slightly misleading - it gives the impression of a very well-kept hotel but I found it to be quite shabby when I arrived. The staff on reception were very helpful and pleasant. I was given a room on the ground floor which vibrated when tube trains passed underneath it. The decor was shabby and the paint was patched in a different colour on the walls. Also, when I went into the bathroom for the first time, I found the previous occupant had used the toilet and not flushed it. There were fresh towels in there so the cleaner obviously been in there but missed it. This is totally disgusting and unacceptable.I also borrowed an iron from reception and the flex was frayed and had exposed wires on it, so I sent it back. The trouser press (which I actually needed to use for once) was inoperative. All in all I think this hotel sees that you have booked at a discounted rate and gives you a less appealing room. The room I had would be better used for storage, not sleeping. I definitely would not stay here again.

I have stayed here successfully before. This time I was allocated the smallest double room I have ever seen, seemingly within a hand's width of the underground; the room shook each time a train passed. There was minimal hot water in the bath/shower and outside hum from generators / heating units or whatever was bad. The staff were sympathetic, promised alternative accommodation for the second night, but said nothing could be done. When the toilet blocked, i lost all patience and was relocated to a large family room in the basement, strangely free of underground trains, cool but very nice, despite continued lack of decent hot water. Efficient front of house staff. Not nearly as bad an experience as it might seem.

After a good breakfast in a pleasant room I could almost forget being shaken in my bed every ten minutes when the underground train passed, what seemed to be, directly under my room. However, I got little sleep after 5:10 am when the underground began running. Free wifi only worked in the lobby, not my room which was inconvenient. Otherwise, the room was adequate for overnight, much more luxurious towels than I would have expected for the price, and very convenient for the tube (!)

The room (123) was OK for the price in terms of size and comfort, but wasn't the greatest I have stayed in. It was located near the lift so the ping of the lift arriving at the floor permeated the very thin walls throughout the evening. Also being on the first floor there was the rumble of the tube line below late into the night and from early morning (something I guess they can't do anything about). Also the only window was 7ft up the wall, so unless I climbed on the desk I had no means of opening it. The bathroom was sort of clean, but was a bit worn and grimy.I would stay at the hotel again, but hopefully next time they will give me a better room ?
