A bad stay

The website it self is useful , but the place I stayed at in hyde park London , paddington , was horrible , the place hadn't been cleaned , the service was bad, we couldn't sleep due to so much noise and had to change room 3 times due to damage . I wouldn't advise anyone to use the hotel , the Hyde park premier , London paddington as me and my partner had the worst 3 nights we have ever had in a hotel .

It was absolutely impossible to get to the window without climbing over the bed.
There was no bar which for a supposedly 4 star hotel is ridiculous!

Very disappointing hotel!!!

We booked this hotel for one night for its convenience to Paddington Station. We booked a double but this room was smaller than a lot of singles I have stayed in. There was no room to move around the bed. The window would not open and the air con didnt work. We asked to be moved and were given a slightly larger room, very slightly. The bathroom was the size of a telephone box!!! You could not move in the shower. Only one person could enter the bathroom at a time it was so small. The sink was blocked and we had to call out the maintenance man who took over an hour to come and fix it. We were very close to walking out and finding somewhere else. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I will not be visiting it ever again.

This is a quaint hotel which is close to Kensington Park and Paddington Station for easy access to downtown London. There are plenty of nice restaurants in the area and in a very quiet quaint neighbourhood. We advise to request a room not in the basement as it is a little dark and wi-fi is only available in the lobby as High Speed Access in rooms is limited via direct connect with a lap top so IPADS and Wi-fi access is not availalbe which is a detertent for business travelers with no an Androide of IPhone/IPAD

Didnt eat here at all, nice hotel, friendly staff, only complaint, (if you could call it a complaint) would be that the room was a little bit small but was nice quality, ideal to use as a base, Paddington Station up the road and Lancaster gate Tube Station not too far round the corner, it helped me and my wife have a very nice weekend

Although most hotel rooms in London are not ultra spacious, the double room allocated (for single occupancy) was smaller than most I have stayed in in the past. Larger than usual furniture made the room feel even more cramped, leaving only 8 inches or so between the corner of the foot of the bed and the desk unit. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, but the wash-hand basic was in a cramped corner and difficult to get right up to. There was no plugb so you always had to use running water. The cost of heating the extra hot water would offset the cost of a plug within days, at most. Although it was of no consequence on this occasion, the hotel does not have a bar. Would normally expect to pay less for a hotel of this standard, but our visit coincided with the Wimbledon fortnight! Although I have said that I would not stay here again, that would be at the price paid - I would however stay there again if it was cheaper.

Works meant that on arrival I was transferred via taxi to the Shaftesbury Premier, which was a little inconvenient. However, I was upgraded to a club room which was clean, spacious and comfortable. It was very handy for Paddington Station, close to Hyde Park to get some fresh air and space, and handy for Central London too. Breakfast was thrown in due to the change of hotel, and that was reasonable.

Ok for a one night stay

The room was a single and therefore very small but well laid out, clean and in good repair. The confusing thing was I checked in at this hotel, then got taken to the Best Western next door to get a key and then taken to my room in a different house across the road. My main gripe would be that my room was on the top floor and was very noisy - I think when someone was using water - and this was going on well into the night for long periods of time. Earplugs recommended.

Over hot and disappointing

The appearently generous discount offered through LateRooms is misleading as the discounted offered rate is normal for a mid range Best Western hotel in London.
The room was very hot through out my stay despite repeated requests for assistance making a comfortable nights sleep very difficult. (It was like staying in an un airconditioned room in August) - all radiators and towel rails turned off, repeated requests for assistance did not result in any improvement over four days.
The broadband connection point in the room was broken - reported daily to reception over four days, but not addressed by maintenence staff.

Lovely People (31.12.10 - 1.1.11)

Stayed here with my girlfriend, on new years eve for one night. From check in to check out staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel has a really nice and clean looking interior and exterior. The hotel lobby is clean and modern. We got upgraded to a club room on arrival, which was very nice of them. The room was a little dark, but featured a big flat screen tv, very nice big bed, and a modern clean bathroom.
The hotel is literally two minutes away from paddington station and also hyde park, so an excellent location for travelling with ease and a bit of sight seeing. There is a few restaurants on the street including an italian, milaysian, indian and a gastro looking pub on the corner, as well as several little local shops (off license). The hotel restaurant only served breakfast and was closed for the rest of the day including evenings, wich is slightly dissapointing but gives you the chance to visit the local restaurants. We ate at an Indian called Flavours of India, it was really, really nice and also really welcoming. We only spent one night in the hotel, and were very happy.
Not sure about the standard rooms, because some of the corridors looked a little old. But if the lobby, and our room are anything to go by I doubt the rest of the interiors are so bad. Again it is in a prime location, for shopping, eating and relaxing. Not sure if i would pay the full price, so probly wouldn't stay again, but thats not from a bad experiance. If you got the money and its within budget see no reason not to, it is actually cheaper than most london hotels at its discounted rate. There was nothing wrong with the hotel from our personal stay and we had a lovely new years.

Like staying in a sauna!!!

The "deluxe" room was quite pokey and small, so I couldn't open my suitcase on the floor. The paint on the window was peeling badly and it wouldn't stay open. The shower door was troublesome. The worst thing of all was the room was shockingly hot!!! When we walked into the room, we were hit by a flash of heat, so I went to the radiator to turn it off but it wasn't even on. We searched the room for a sign of heat but couldn't find out where it was coming from. We turned the air con on the signified 18º was still very hot, so we resorted to opening the window when it was -3º outside (as it was New Years Eve) but even that didn't help as there was no breeze. Cue a night of troublesome sleep, sweating, and uncomfortable tossing and turning. Really wasn't worth the money paid, despite paying 50GBP less on this website than on the official website.

The welcome was good, but paying before seeing the room was a mistake. It was very small, and the bathroom was difficult to turn round in.The picture on the website must have been taken with a wide angle lens! It was tastefully decorated. It was supposed to be a De luxe room, but a tv, with only terrestrial channels, two only tea bags, two only coffee, sugar sachets etc is not De lux. There was a smell from the bathroom.Another room was offered, but it was the same size, but looked the same quality. The hotel was not value for money, even for London,

Great Location - just 400 yds south of Paddington Station. Reception staff excellent and rooms clean & comfortable. The location is also very peaceful compared to much more expensive Hotels in the area. All the staff were very courteous and accomadating. We booked last minute as we had an opportunity to attend the Carling Cup Final and getting to Wembley from the Hotel was really easy especially as the staff gave us written directions. We would definitely use this Hotel again.

Hotel was clean and comfortable - all the amenities were provided (electrical converter for my US laptop, ironing board and iron, coffee, big screen TV, wake up call via the in room TV etc). Only thing I had to get used to was the small size of the bathroom sink...but after a day or two I was used to it! Several nice restuarants right on the main drag along with small convienece stores for a newspaper and/or snacks and drinks.

A Pleasant Surprise

This hotel booking was purely price driven, as we just needed somewhere to stay overnight at short notice. The hotel is easy to find, looks good from the road, and although our rooms were in the basement part of the hotel, there was plenty of room, were well decorated, had good bathrooms and most importantly, comfortable beds.
I was a little dubious about the price reduction from £300 to £89, obviously a dodgy sales ploy!
Recommended for good value and a good nights sleep.

*Positive points*:

2. Local shops to get the few essential bottles of water, chocolate bars etc
3. Friendly/polite staff
4. Short walking distance to Hyde Park and Bayswtar where there is a shopping center with cinema, many restaurants, pubs and a few bars
*Not negative points, but points that should be recognised by potential customers*
1. The bed took up the Whole room
2. I couldn't walk around to the other side of the bed as a table was squashed into the corner leaving a very small gap for me to Squeeze through to get to the other side where the window was
3. The showerroom was Sooo small that I could only step into the room i.e. it was small that I couldn't walk into the room

BE WARNED!

My experience at the Hyde Park Premier London Paddington was a complete nightmare! We arrived at the reception to be told that the floor we were on had been flooded due to a plumbing fault and that we would have to be sent to another hotel. We waited in the lobby for over an hour while the receptionist tried to find a vacancy. Finally we were sent to another hotel, with a tiny dingy room with a single bed which had no windows and stank of smoke.
We refused the room and were left wandering the streets of London with nowhere to sleep!
But this is not all - while we waited at the first hotel, two other couples with CONFIRMED reservations were sent away, one because there was an electricity fault and another because of the plumbing. These were blatant lies. In fact it is hotel policy to overbook, in case of cancellations, and then lie to it's customers when they find they have too many of them. This is not the only hotel involved in this SCAM. Be wary. Even though you have a confirmed reservation, you may not get a room.
I have had this experience before, in the same hotel group. Last time I believed the story about the electricity and was happy that they found me a new room. But this time, when i got the sob story, I had heard the story before. Blatant LIES! I wonder how many other people have had this experience?

Book this Hotel at your Own Risk

Arrived to check in at at 10.15 pm to be told that hotel was overbooked and a taxi would take me to a 'sister' hotel. Waited over an hour for the cab to take me from Paddington to Earl's Court. Arrived at second hotel and was promptly bounced to a third hotel. Having booked a Deluxe Double I was then given a ridiculously small single in the basement with a tube line below me and a noisy air conditioning unit outside the window. Needless to say, I refused to settle the account the following morning, despite their offer of a complimentary breakfast! The queue for cabs outside the hotel would suggest that I was only one of many who experienced this when trying to check in to the Hyde Park Premier Paddington that evening. This begs the question: does this hotel knowingly accept bookings when they are full in order to fill rooms in their less salubrious 'sister' hotels elsewhere in London ?

I was originally given a ground floor room which - being a lone female - I was completely unhappy with from a safety aspect. Luckily, a male colleague of mine was able to swap rooms with me which put me on a higher floor in a smaller room. However, I have never ever been in such a pokey room in which you physically cannot walk around the bed as both ends of the bed were touching the walls. You literally had to hurdle over the bed in order to gain access to the wardrobe and dressing table. I understand rooms tend to be smaller in London, but if I had had to pay full price I would have been absolutely gutted! On a positive note, the decor, bathroom and cleanliness were of a high standard.
