Excellent surprise. Decorated, finished and furnished to a high standard. Air-con did not work well, we wished we had more interaction with staff. Some at breakfast a bit moody. But nothing that would ruin our overall impression. Very good indeed! Have already recommended.

We usually stay in the centre of London...
We usually stay in the centre of London but have recently found that the convenience is marred by a cold and inhospitable welcome as well as tiny, grubby over priced accommodation
Last time we visited we stayed at The Mandeville, it's cheapest room option costing 150 not including breakfast. The room was small and tired and although only a 5 minute walk from Oxford street we found it so unwelcoming that we vowed never to return.
This in mind we thought we would try somewhere a little further afield and we were not disappointed.
Hotel 55 is a 2 minute walk from the station and took us around 30 mins to reach from Kings Cross.
We were warmly welcomed and found our room.
The compact but not ridiculously small room overlooked a beautifully landscaped garden. It was air conditioned and had tea and coffee as well as complimentary water and a flat screen television.
The bed was super cosy and we slept better than at home!
Breakfast was a basic continental style buffet but featured all you would need to set your self up for the day, Pastries, fruit, cheeses, meat, yoghurt and cereal.
The waiting staff were lovely too with top ups of fresh coffee on hand as well as fresh toast.
All in all we thought it was a great deal at the last minute price of 75. We will most definitely stay again and would happily recommend it to both friends and family.
Our original room was very small, hardly room for 2 of us let alone the 2 large suitcases we had! Room was quiet tho. We were given a bigger room but this was on the corner of the hotel & very noisey - traffic lights outside :( room was adequate otherwise. Very nice dining room/restaurant, altho we only ate continental breakfast here which was included in price; lovely deck and garden at rear. Location was very close to train station, dairy & Italian restaurant.

This is a nice little hotel. You can park just around the corner by the tube station 24 hours. The rooms are small but very nicely decorated in a japanese style. The bar and restauraunt open out onto a lovely Japanese garden where you can sit out. The included continental breakfast was of good quality.
I wouldn't want to spend too long in the room and you need to consider that if you're staying for a few days. After an Amazing holiday in Oman we flew back to Heathrow tired but Happy! We drove just 20 minutes and arrived at the hotel 55. From the minute we arrived the service and greeting was fantastic. We had the most beautiful comfortable and stylish room. We have stayed at a great deal of hotels but we truly loved this hotel, the bed was sooooo comfortable and being able to have a lounge bar downstairs open 24 hours was fantastic! The tube was just around the corner which was ideal. I loved Sunday morning sitting in the garden having a coffee just what you need. Definitely going to stay. Perfect!

to say my room was small was the understatement of the year - although the website did warn the room was cosy - i wasn't prepared for the room to be so small that there was no room for my suitcase other than next to me on the bed!
My bigger issues is that all of the locks on the window weren't working meaning the windows from this gound floor room could be opened from outside. the hotel wasn't full and when i asked to be moved to a more secure room the manager was just plain rude.
also, i could hear everything in the rooms either side and above me
i didn't expect much for 85 quid however, for me, knowing that your room is secure isn't being too demanding!
We were quite disappointed that the room was very small, we could hardly move around in it! Bathroom was nice, although one of the glass shelves was broken and kept falling off the wall. There was buliding works going on outside the hotel which was quite noisy in the morning, as we were on the ground floor and the builders kept walking past our window!
Also, if you are planning to stay here, be careful which credit card you use to secure the reservation, as although they advise you that no payment will be taken from the card until you arrive, I had payment taken from my card while we were in our room in the evening, (without my consent) which was quite inconvienient as we were planning to pay cash. Also, I always prefer to be there if my card has transactions put on to it for peace of mind!
The continental breakfast wasn't great as it was served in the bar area, which due to the glass roof is so hot (almost like a greenhouse!) This made all the meat they had laid out quite warm. We were one of the last couples down to breakfast, and we felt the staff were waiting for us to leave - they started clearing away the breakfast cereals, milk, etc before we were even half way through our food!
All in all, we were quite disapointed, I'm sure there are hotels in London which are much better value for money.

Gorgeous room, great staff and super bar area. Parking is a bit of a pain though so you need to be aware of that and expect to have to park either in a side road or in North Ealing tube station care park which is 2.10 for 24 hours. If you are travelling up the Hangar Road from Gunnersbury then be aware the hotel is one the other side so you will need to turn around and come back if travelling in that direction. Is is very noisy if you are not used to city noise; Hangar Road is relentlessly busy. BUT, the room and the bed was lovely and it's very good value for such a good location in London.

The advertiser who chose words like "sumptuous" to describe the room should be prosected under the trade description act. The room was so tiny that my wife and I had to have a trafiic light system to move around the room. I say move, it was more of a sideways shuffle as the bed took all of the room apart from a few inches on each side. The bathroom was so small, you had to stand at the wash basin at an angle, and the basin
would only hold a thimble full of water. Food was very good, although I did have difficulty ordering a pot of hot water instead of tea.

Right from when I checked in the staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and it was really nice to have the personal touch. There was a couple staying the same time as me who didn't know London very well, and one of the guys sat them down in the lounge and went through with them all the places they might like to visit, things to do etc. and really went the extra mile.
The room itself was overlooking the garden, and very light, with stylish contemporary decor and lovely Molten Brown toiletries. The rest of the hotel, in the corridors etc, was also very nicely decorated, with artwork on the walls, and the conservatory for breakfast was a great way to start the day.
The area it was in wasn't great, but there was a few basic shops and a nice Indian restaurant, and it's right round the corner from North Ealing tube so easy enough to get everywhere else.
Would definitely stay again if I needed to be in the area for anything.

A splendid option, close to Underground and reasonably priced. All staff encountered were pleasant and helpful and whilst the room scored highly in terms of accommodation, it was at the front and immediately off the reception area - plenty of noise from fellow guests passing through, late and early and then there was the traffic throughout the night. Provided an alternative room, I will certainly choose to stay again, regularly.

I have to say that I was a little disappointed with the hotel from all the reviews I was expecting a lot more than what it was. Hotel 55 is in a good location, near north earling tube stop. However when we arrived we were placed in room 3 (avoid at all costs). It was a tiny room that stank of smoke. Not sure how they allow it with the ban but you can smoke in the rooms. Had i have known this before I booked I would never have stayed in a smoky hotel. The room had no natural daylight and over looked a wall, the light fitting was hanging from the ceiling, with live wires hanging out. 3 light bulbs were out too making the room look even darker. When we asked if we could move we were moved to the disabled room right of the reception which was not ideal but was better than our previous room. Overally the hotel is nice but is just missing attention to detail. The towel rail was not near the shower and had no where to hang wet towels, no conditioner or body lotion was provided, the kettle did not work, the sink was too near the toilet, no iron or board, only one pillow each (no spares)and no manual for the hotel. Breakfast was nice but the option of a cooked breakfast would have been appreciated. New hotel that should not have the problems it does. Too much focus on making the hotel modern not enough on comfort.

Hotel 55 was an ultra modern and trendy hotel with very freindly staff. It was let down by a few thingssuch as no lift and difficult stairs if you had heavy luggage or were physically disabled. My room was very small and poky which I felt was not helped by having a king sized bed taking up most of the space. I barely had somewhere to put my small suitcase. The bar/dinning area was a beautifully designed conservatory leading onto a nicely laid out modern garden with decked outside eating area. There was a limited choice of food and my order although plentiful was greasy and bland. I also ordered a glass of wine and was offered the dregs from a long opened bottle which I refused and asked for a fresh glass.
Although I would probably not stay here again I would recommend it as a convenient alternative if you could not get into the larger establishment down the road.
Just a couple of minutes walk from North Ealing tube, or less than 10 minutes from Ealing Broadway, hotel was easy to find. Room was small (although I have had smaller, and to be fair the large bed is mostly responsible for the lack of space), spotlessly clean with a large comfortable bed and an excellent shower. Fridge and safe were both welcome, as was air conditioning and a window I could open. My room was on the side of the hotel, so not too much noise from outside. Continental breakfast was basic, but for the price I am not complaining. If I have a need to be in West London I would definitely stay here again, otherwise only the length of the tube journey would make me seek out a more central hotel.

This hotel is very close to North Ealing tube station. There are not a lot of things going on around the hotel but it is easy to hop on the tube and go elsewhere. The rooms are nicely done but very small. The doors are very heavy and people just seem to let them bang shut, which is very noisy and annoying. The breakfast is continental and not refridgerated at all! Breakfast was of a reasonably good standard but I imagine rather sweaty and warm in the summer months. Overall I thought this was a nice little hotel with friendly staff, away from all the hustle and bustle of central London but close enough to be convenient.

The rooms are very much on the small side, with a squeeze between wall and bed. Having said that, the bed was very comfortable, the shower excellent and the room was surprisingly quiet for London.

Chic, hip little hotel, with elegant contemporary styling. Charmingly and efficiently run, there are really no downsides to staying here at all - fab value for a 3* rating. The garden and dining-room are a bonus way more than the 3* rating would indicate.

This is an excellent hotel that is easy to access from central London via the tube (about25-30 mins). The quality is astounding-the room was of a very high standard as was the en suite bathroom. The staff were helpful and ordered in pizza for us which wasnt on their menu list (no in house food but they order in from three different restaurants). The continental breakfast was lovely and fresh with excellent service and beautiful dining room. Can't think of many negatives except for the noisy main road outside my window! I slept fine but my partner found it difficult. I would definitely stay again.

Great location. Easy to check in and out. Good surroundings.Comfortable bed. Good shower. The barman at night was an absolute credit to the hotel. Only very slight criticism is that the breakfast buffet should be on a chilled display, or in trays with ice. Meat, Yoghurt butter etc should not be in the sun with no means of cooling, not only from a hygiene viewpoint, but from how they actually eat. This is a professional opinion only, and this minor point would not detract me from staying as a customer at this great value hotel again.

We were lucky and secured a car parking space. Our room was small but perfectly formed. The hotel is decorated to a very high standard and is beautifully clean. Not the best location and the traffic was a bit noisy but would definately stay here again. Tube station is truly only a couple of minutes away and very easy access into the city.

Extremely pleasant environment, and very handy for the Picadilly line at the West of London. My room was small but extremely well presented and very comfortable. It creates the atmosphere of a much more expensive hotel, at a price comparable to the standard chains!!

This is a real gem - just around the corner from North Ealing tube station which takes you straight into the city. The room was small but I was alone travelling for business and it was ideal - the hotel was easy to find, clean, modern, relaxing even - great staff, fantastic curry (shipped in from a local restaurant), free broadband access and free wireless in lounge/bar. Great (very fresh) continental breakfast and a fantastic garden. I'm almost reluctant to be so positive....incase I cant get a space next time I visit. I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel is a real gem - very modern...
Hotel 55 is a real gem - very modern and stylish. Our room was rather small, but the decor was great and the bathroom very nice (with complimentary Molton Brown products!). The King Size bed was very comfy and the flat screen tv was a nice touch. Apparently the food is ordered in for you - not made on the premises - and looked rather expensive, so we went to the pub across the road to eat (there is also a Japanese restaurant along the same road as the pub). Likewise, breakfast was a little disapointing - whilst very nice and good quality, it was only continental style - where as I like a full english option when I stay at a hotel. Parking is easy enough if you use the NCP at the train station at the back - it cost us 1 for saturday and was free on sunday. All in all a great place to stay - and I would go there again.
