Hot

Hotel was fine, and very good value the only downside, and I know it could be much worse, it was very hot in mid Feb we turned the rads off and the room was still hot

Smell of sewer

Its an old hotel but cheap, my only big gripe was the smell of sewer in the bathroom, which the cleaning lady "disguised" with some even worse smelling cleaning that gave the room and the hallway outside the room a disgusting aroma.

London Trip

We have stayed at the Holiday Villa Hotel a number of times and have always found it to be very good. The staff are always friendly an helpful and some have even got to recognise us on our return. The rooms have always been cleaned to a good standard and though a little dated are comfortable. We will certainly go there again when we next visit.

Weekend stay

The staff were friendly and the hotel fairly clean and presentable.
The furnishings a bit tired and old hat.
The double bed was two singles pushed together.
Shower temperature control was health and safety risk - cold or boiling!
When in London, there's so much to see that often little time is spent at the hotel. In this case, no problems but no 'luxury' or sense of modernity.

Short Stay Business Trip

Needed a twin room for a short stay business trip in central London. Short walk from Paddington station and near 2 tube stops, so very accessible. Room was good quality, with large en suite. Very clean hotel, friendly and helpful staff.
Would recommend to others.

Business in London

Room was badly in need of update and had a 'grubby' look about it. Bed was situated at the top of a flight of stairs within the room and could have been dangerous for someone losing their way in the dark during the night.
Plug sockets battered and not working.
Vastly overpriced!

Depends on what you are looking for

I stayed here as a last minute business requirement. The hotel was fine, with good food if you like Malaysian or Chinese. I did have an issue with the bed, it was like sleeping on a plank of wood. Also the walls are extremely thin, so if you have a noisy floor, you will hear everything.
Overall it was fine for my needs, I doubt I would recommend as a long term stay, but for a one or two night stay is perfectly adequate.

Fair Value

In respect of the location, this hotel gives fair value for money. The rooms can be small: but perfectly adequate for a short stay, one or two nights.

Nice and close to Paddington Rail station. The staff on reception were very helpful. I had a comfortable twin room which I found very clean although the bed was a touch narrow (3ft?). Nice and quiet at night. Breakfast was enjoyable. Would definitely stay again.

Could do better in some areas

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Having read some of the reviews beforehand I had modest expectations. It was actually slightly better than I hoped with the rooms being clean and quiet and the free newspapers was a nice touch. However, beware of the night staff, I had a brush with a guy who is best described as an android that seemed to have his voice track stuck in repeat mode - slightly irritating after a long day. The breakfasts were adequate but boring after 4 days with a very limited choice. Also I went down to the bar one night to discover that it was a little unexpected.....

The hotel from the outside looked fantastic but felt our bedroom at the back needed a bit of TLC. The whole room and everything in it looked a bit tired and needed updating. The staff were all very friendly and buffet breakfast adquate. On the whole the hotel was good value for money and in a good position for sightseeing and theatre trips.

A Bargain!

A great hotel even and full rate never mind the bargain I got through late rooms. Staff friendly, hotel clean and rooms of reasonable size. Food in restuarant was great and very reasonable. Only poor point is that walls did seem a litlle thin but I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't bother me!

You get what you pay for

Pretty bog standard cheap hotel really. Needs a bit of a refurb, but it's generally clean and what you would expect for the price. The room was smallish, but not cramped. Breakfast was not very exciting, but self-service, so you can eat as much as you wish.
Only couple of downsides - I did witness a senior member of staff giving another staff member a proper telling off at reception, which was pretty unprofessional, and also quite uncomfortable to witness. The other is the restaurant - I thought visiting the attached restaurant for an evening meal would be the easy option. However, this is not suitable for vegetarians. There were only a couple of things with no dead animals on the menu, none of which I fancied. Oddly, the vegetable section of the menu was full of dishes with fish and seafood in. I ended up walking out and having to go to a nearby shop for supplies. There are a number of local restaurants near the hotel though.

Holiday Villa review

The staff were quite friendly and the Hotel was generally quite clean, but I felt that the bathroom let it down a little as I felt it could do with a bit of an update, but generally, I would not hesitate to stay there again if I was in the area , marks out of 10? -- 8!

A good hotel.

We stayed at this hotel because it is easily accessible from Paddington Station and is also close to Bayswater and Queensway underground stations. The hotel itself was very nice and the room was comfortable. The service was very good and altogether it was a good hotel for us.

Small room

To be a double room this was in our opinion too small, no place for two suitcases, very clumsy cupboard, i.e. very narrow inside, you had to almost press jackets on hanger into proper place inside the cupboard. Some ugly smell during the day in bathroom/ toilet. Difficult to get out on the veranda, you have to move away curtain and rather heavy furniture to get there.
In all, too narrow inside this room.

It Is Just A City Budget Business Hotel

Whilst the rooms are clean but the creeky wooden floor and poor insulation were not keeping away the noises of unruly occupants especially in the middle of our sleep. Breakfast was spartan, which could be improved with better quality breads/croisants and better quality coffee. Staff were pleasant and friendly except for those in the morning breakfast, probably due to the heavy occupancy. Malaysian food menu was a little too hot even for us. The country B&B hotels we stayed earlier could provide free wi fi; we expected the Holiday Villa to be able to provide this too.

Disappointed

Just a quick review: a little inconvenient as the hotel was inbetween 3 tube stations and no buses ran down the street so any public transportation was 5-10 walk to a stop, which is not too bad, just inconvenient. They advertise on their site that the have a/c in the room; they do but it is on a timer and at a fixed temperature so basically, it did not work. Restaurant on premises but they are not very friendly. The building is older so the floors are slanted and the floors creaked. The room was fairly clean...we were there a week and they never vacummed. Elevator only holds 3 people so sometimes you had to wait or sometimes it did not work at all. The breakfast buffet was ok...croissants, cereal toast, cheese basic Europe meal for hotels. I did not mind the accomodations but I beleive it to be overpriced for what you get. I would stay there again bit only for a cheaper price.
