I am sorry to say that we did not enjoy the experience of staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Belgrave Road. The room was obviously purpose made for disabled people which, although not a problem in itself, did meant that we did not have a bath or a shower that was contained within a cubicle. This was a big problem as using the shower meant that the floor of the room flooded and there was no way to avoid having to step in the water anywhere in the room. We also did not realise this and found that, after the first use of the shower, our wash bags (which were left on the floor near the toilet) were soaked through.
There was also an apparent problem with the supply of hot water as it appeared that whenever the hot water was used by the room next door (which we could hear running) then there was no hot water in our room - very frustrating when one is in the shower already!!
When we arrive the handle to the shower room was hanging by a single screw however this was mended quickly once we brought it to the attention of the receptionist.
The socket feeding the kettle was faulty as the plug needed to be fiddled with to make the power come on.
The quality of the breakfast was very poor with not enough cutlery available for all the people there, a lack of teabags, only 3 cereal choices when there were 4 recepticles available and 4 cereals advertised and only one staff member available to help with these problems (I have to say that she did a sterling job but was obviously over stretched as she was trying to do the clearing and re-supplying at the same time as dealing with the various compliants from the other guests).
Overall our stay was not enjoyable and we will not be either using this hotel again or recommending it to our friends (which is as shame as many of them travel to London for short city breaks with their families).
