Faded

Whilst the hotel was inexpensive for London, the room was 'faded'and in need of redecoration. The beds were very old and the base was frayed and uncovered. Whilst the sheets were immaculate, the mattress cover was in need of cleaning and the blankets were grubby.

However, it was in a good location just off Earls Court station and the conservatory where breakfast was served, was very nice and the food and service really good.
It served its purpose though for an inexpensive overnight stay.

Does what it says on the tin

The title says it all... the hotel was clean, friendly, and exactly what we were looking for. It served our purpose which was as a base through which to see London and was close to the Royal Albert Hall (two tube stops away).

Much enjoyed our stay at the Henley House Hotel. Situated very close to Earls Court underground station (which suited us fine). Also a couple of nice pubs around the corner. Would use this hotel again, and happy to recommend to friends.

Tired room, over-inflated reviews for this hotel

The hotel seems very nice when you step into the lobby but the room I was in left much to be desired. It just didn't feel clean. I can't be sure that the bedspread had been washed recently. The carpet is old and therefore feels dirty. The papered walls looked worse for wear. It took ages to work out the volume control for the tv on the remote as you had to experiment with the buttons to work out which ones turned down the volume. It's just that the description of the hotel doesn't match reality, unfortunately.

Used this hotel for the second year running as convenient for attending an annual christmastide get-together. Same cheerful welcome and same standards of service. Lower rating for food reflects the limited range available (breakfast only). We'll go again next year! Discount available for second night stay.

I will not be visiting again. I will spend my money with a hotel that deserves it!

First impressions were ok. Room was small but adequate for the time i spent there. Service at breakfast was appalling!! I had to go to the kitchen every morning to ask for tea and toast, then the wait was 15 - 20 minutes making me late for work. On the last day i arrived at breakfast 3 minutes past 9am. The waitress rolled her eyes at me and tutted. I asked if there was a problem? She then aggressively told me that i was three minutes late and breakfast was finished.
There was no milk in my room on 2 of the days so i had to request this.
There was also moss falling from the interior basin of the toilet as it was flushed.
Overall..... Disgraceful

Great value for money!

This place is a real find and great value for money. Although a little worn round the edges(!) the hotel was spotlessly clean with crisp white sheets on the bed. Great location near to Earls Court, but on a littleside street so not at all noisy. Breakfast was a little sparse but perfectly adequate. I will definitely stay again.

Wimbledon Tennis overnight stay.

We had read previous reviews (including the one about Room 34) and decided the location and overall reviews were positive. The hotel is very close to Earls Court Underground but on a side street so surprisingly quiet regarding traffic noise. We were given Room 23 which was very well appointed plus a great view over Barkston Gardens from the balcony & window. The only criticisms was that there was a hole in one of the bed bases (twin beds) and the large window/door to the tiny balcony was old fashioned- not double glazed. There was a small draught because of the latter but there was a heavy full-length curtain which negated this when closed. We just had the buffet Continental breakfast which was served in a modern Conservatory in the rear of the hotel- very nice indeed. Overall a pleasant hotel in a very good location. NR

London Break

I recently spent 3 nights in this lovely little hotel with my friend and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was in the basement but we had windows and doors that led to a little yard. They didnt open but we had a fan in the room to use if it got too hot. It was very clean and we had no complaints at all. The location is excellent as it is only a two minute walk from the underground and we were able to access all of London very easily. The continental breakfast was very nice and staff were on hand to provide you with toast as well if you required it. The only thing that concerned us slightly was that there didnt seem to be any staff on overnight so if there had been an incident I dont know what we would have done. Overall, great value for money and I would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

Very disappointing small drab tatty room

The lady at the front desk was polite enough, and the entrance to the hotel looked ok if a bit dated. On entering the room my heart sank. The carpet was old and did not look hoovered. The divan bed was tatty and stained and torn. The bed was hard, the mattress was thin and the pillows were flat. Everything seemed old, worn and not very clean. There was a musty smell that never cleared from the room. The shower was ok, but flooded out over the entire bathroom floor. I always look forward to a hotel breakfast but on seeing the room we immediately decided breakfast would be best avoided. The only good point was the close proximity to restaurants and bars, so we did not have to come back to the room until very late in the evening. The price did not reflect what I would expect from the hotel. Other hotels of the same price in the area have been in a completely different class of hotel, and I don't know how they justify charging what they did.

Great for one night

This hotel is ideal if you need accommodation near Earl's Court. It has everything on the doorstep, literally. M&S Foodhall, for snacks and wine, pubs and restaurants. I was even able to walk down to Starbucks at 6.45am for a coffee.
The hotel is not amazing, but if you just need somewhere to sleep, that's good value, then it's great. I didn't eat there, so can't comment on that.

Room, couldn't fault it but for the TV. It was out of date but made up for it, was the hifi unit was most enjoyable since i love music. the other thing was, paying for a english breakfast in London. To me that seems wrong . but thats me being patriotic. the hotel itself is located very nicely if you want to go to the Albert Hall 25 mins walk 5 mins on the tube.
we stayed over the weekend enjoyed walking through \hyde Park and along the embankment , it's what we like, walking. the museums are in with easy reach if you like them

Lovely stay! Lovely hotel!

The hotel was a really good price and the room was nice and spacious. Every member of staff I met was helpful and friendly and its in a really nice area, overlooking a gorgeous park in a great park of Earls Court, its literally just around the corner from the station too. Great spot! The only bad thing was that we were put in the basement which can be very loud at night, I recommend that you ask to go higher up if possible. Other than that, its a lovely boutique hotel!

Avoid Room 34

This hotel is situated very conveniently in Earls Court. At this price, don't expect anything other than a basic package. The hotel itself is basic but if staying here avoid room 34 at the very top at all costs. It is very small and the bathroom/wet room is so small as to be totally impractical. If you are 'above average' size, you won't fit in the shower. Decor is bad and a few coats of paint are urgently needed in this room. The whole place could do with a re decoration. We stole a quick look in another room and it was much larger. The continental breakfast was very basic. We would stay here again on the basis of using it just as a place to sleep rather than having to spend much time in the hotel but never in room 34.

Spacious room by London standards and ample supplies of extra pillow, blankets and toiletries. Continental breakfast was good but if you want more you can pay under a fiver for the full cooked breakfast or there's pubs and food stores very close by for meals and food/drink supplies.
