Summary
My wife and I have often spent weekends away at "boutique hotels" as a treat based around birthdays or trips to the theatre etc. Whilst they are often expensive compared to more standard hotels you can often justify it to yourself as the rooms are so luxurious and the service so good. However, with Hazlitt's this wasn't the case for us. The staff were very nice, the room had loads of character but the fact that it was very small, had no bath and had fewer complimentary toiletries than a travelodge left me thinking that I had paid well over the odds this time. I have stayed in 2 other Soho hotels in the past and had a much more pampered experience for less money.
Summary
Frances and I found Hazlitts a wonderfully placed 4 star 'bolt-hole' at the heart of the hustle and bustle of Soho. As we were due to attend a marriage celebratory evening in a local night club, which finished at 3am on the follwing Sunday morning, our hotel location just around the corner was ideal. Having danced the night away and shared a final non-alcoholic hot chocolate 'nightcap' at 4.00am with friends, it was great to be able to walk a hundred metres to a welcoming hotel bed. Our room (Mrs Millet) had lavish drapes and furniture dating back to the 18th Century. The staff were most welcoming and breakfast was delivered to our room at a suitable time the following morning. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderfully magical and romantic weekend. I would highly recommend Hazlitts and a big thanks must also go to LateRooms for making our stay finacially viable.
Summary
I booked a superior room for one night which, while smaller than I had anticipated was extremely comfortable, hazlitts is a real gem tucked away in the bustle of Soho on Frith Street and easy to miss as you walk down the road, decor is tastefully antique and classic in theme with gilt edged mirrors ornate lamps and beautiful paintings, beds are solid 17th century hand carved affairs offering a great nights sleep. bathrooms are extremely clean with deep baths and showr heads the size of large sunflowers with very hot water. be perpared for the hustle and bustle of soho's nightlife to carry on into the early hours, not ideal if you're a light sleeper but there's no denying Hazlitts is a wonderful gem with attentive staff and a great atmosphere, if you can afford a room size up from a superior for an Anniversary treat I highly recommend it, the superiors look spacious but are on the small size. I would stay again given the chance.
The only real criticism is that the hotel does not offer a traditional English breakfast as part of its menu.
Great location for theatres in west end.
Rooms were quite spacious and had an old authentic feel, very nice indeed.
10 min cab from Euston train station.
Only down side our room did not have a stand up shower, but it did have a roll-top bath with a shower on the mixer tap. 4 Posterbed and Aircon were also very nice! + iPod dock ;)
