My stay at the grange st paul's hotel

The only two things that I could fault the hotel on is that the advertised 'turn down' service did not happen. Also, the breakfast menu in the room included smoked haddock with poached egg but this was not available in the restaurant for breakfast. Otherwise our stay was most enjoyable.

Great base for exploring London

Room was excellent, luxurious and quiet. The leisure facilities were excellent.
The only negative would be breakfast, at £20 per head I would have expected not to have to chase staff around the room for basics like coffee and toast!

Lovely location

We were very happy with the location and the hotel and facilities are very good - definitely five star. Loved the shower and bath and decoration in room was of a high standard.
Only negatives would be that we were in a room that faced about 15 yards from someone elses apartment window so we had to have the blind down, also the 'double bed' was merely two twins pushed together with a thinnish mattress on top. If we'd have been staying two nights we'd have asked for a room swap.
I would stay here again however.

Decent location, poor room, substandard service

Great location opposite St Pauls.
For a supposed 5 star hotel room was a let-down. Poor quality fittings (including broken chair left in room) and view overlooking enbclosed atrium. Felt more like prison cell than quality hotel room.

No window and rip off cabs

Really underwhelmed with the service and the room. We were given a room without an external window which overlooked the internal central atrium. The room felt dark and dingy, the main light in the atrium came from a giant, rotating electronic advert (similar to Times Square ads). I called down to change the room, the call back I was promised never happened, I had to chase to swap rooms. To be fair the new room with a proper window was much better.
Booked a cab to travel from the hotel to Islington town hall. Was told there was no difference in price between black cab and a mini cab by the concierge so I said they could book either for me. I was astounded to be charged £25 for a mini cab journey which usually costs around £10 in a black cab. The driver said the hotel set the price and he was embarrassed to have to charge such a rip off amount. I complained at checkout the next day and was told the person at reception couldn't do anything about this and no manager was available. I followed up with a phone call to the manager but haven't heard anything further - seems to have gone into a black hole.
I used to work round the corner from the hotel and saw it being built. Given it's location, 5* status and the sharp styling I had high expectations but it just did not live up to them.

Absolutely fantastic

Beautiful modern hotel within a stone's throw of St Pauls, the millenium bridge, the Tate Modern, the London Museum, tube station, good selection of restaurants and boris bikes outside the door! A big bonus for travellers flying in to London is that you can bypass the Gatwick Express to Victoria and simply buy a ticket from Gatwick to City Thameslink which is literally two minutes walk from the hotel.

Accountancy Presentation and Weekend in London

My son, his partner and myself stayed at this hotel, primarily as we were attending an AAT Accountancy Presentation in the Conference Centre. We had a Champagne Reception followed by the Presentation and then a superb buffet afterwards. The choice of food at the buffet was amazing, catering for all tastes. I could not fault this hotel. The decor, style and cleanliness was superb. The bedroom had a view of the dome of St Paul's and was beautifully furnished with a fabulous en-suite. I would definately stay here again, hopefully on a leisure break next time.

City break with teenage son

Arrived in London early and was allowed to check in early, great. Even upgraded to executive room free of charge, great. Ate in the restaurant 2 of the 3 nights and the waitress was amazing, food also fantastic.
Found hair in my shower after a clean, and glasses taken up by us from the bar stayed there for the remaining two days. No bed turn downs on any of the 3 nights, but not a big deal for me.
Only trouble I had was I am disabled and walk with the help of 2 sticks, this prevented me from going swimming as my son aged 14 was not allowed to accompany me unless specified childrens hours. This was a huge shame, as I'd booked the hotel as much for the pool as for the city centre venue.

Grange St-Pauls hotel : perfect setting

The Grange hotel has the perfect location to visit the city : located in the bankers hart of London - so plenty of nice restaurants and bars nearby), at the foot of the cathedral and the Millenium bridge to visit Tate modern or stroll along southbank. Rooms are nicely decorated and big enough - only issue I had is if your room looks out to the inside (courtyard), no possibility to open a window so no fresh air but airco life for a while. Summer deals are amazing price/quality wise.

Very impressed with this hotel and would recommend staying there. It is a very modern hotel. The rooms were nice and clean. Unfortunately I didn't get to eat in any of the restaurants because we were only there for 2 nights and had other things booked. Managed to fit in a swim though in the lovely pool and spent a bit of time in the jacquzzi. This hotel is well worth a visit and I would go back.

A very nice expierence

The Grange St Pauls Hotel in the heart of the city was a very nice place to stay. The room was very clean and comfortable although staying in the west wing meant I had to close the curtains on arrival as the view from my window was overlooked in every direction. The facilities were of a good standard. i ordered a full english breakfast in my room the next morning, this arrived on time but sadly was cold. As I was staying in a smoking room i thought there would have been a ash tray, there was not. I rang for one but alas it did not arrive - a very minor inconvience.

Lovely hotel

We booked this hotel last minute literally the day before and saved over £100 on the list price. We were going out to the theatre and dinner anyway so figured rather than rush home we would book a hotel. It was our anniversary so we figured we would have a bit of a splurgh as we dont do it often. The foyer of the hotel is quite impressive and the staff are friendly enough. Once we had checked in however there were only two lifts which was rather annoying considering there must be many hundreds of rooms. The building is mainly glass and when you are standing by the lifts it does remind you a bit of a shopping centre!! Neverless is pretty and well maintained.
Once we finally got up to our room, it was a good quality room, very clean and a good size. However I can guarantee I would have been very disappointed had we paid full price as I have seen better hotels but then again we probably didnt get given the best room in the hotel.
The price that we paid for it we were happy, it was quiet, the bed was comfy and the shower was lovely so we were happy bunnies :) would recommend and would go back but wouldnt pay full price.

The trainee receptionist needed supervision as she didn't know how to explain the payment, where the room was or manage to activate our key card the first time. Room and facilities (spa) fantastic. Air con incredibly noisy so didn't get a good night's sleep and mobile signal horrendous in the room.

Weekend Break - Theatre & Rugby, England v Scotland

The hotel is great - ideally situated, theatre a ten minute taxi, St Pauls over the road, what more could you wish for. Lovely decor, rooms are really nice, what you'd expect from a 5* Hotel, breakfast was good - however, I would say that there was confusion as to who was serving who, tea arrived with no milk - re asking for things ordered, then getting it 3 times over, but it was good food. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely use this hotel again & again!! Excellent!

Great bed! Great location only downside - No air

Really liked the room etc. and was in a great location, my only complaint is that the hotel is so big, I had a window, but it was inward facing , so I couldn't get any fresh air, there was air con but I woke up the next day feeling a bit claustrophobic without being able to open a window.
That said, the staff were all very pleasant and helpful (when checking in) large queue on check out though. I have to say the bed was one of the most comfy I had slept in, I had a fab nights sleep. I didn't get to check out the spa etc. or any food etc. - only thing I will say is the mini bar was locked, which wasn't any use when I woke up at 5am in desperate need of a drink! I am not sure I would rate it 5* myself, probably 4*, the rooom was nice but not any bigger than a travel lodge room really. I would in all recommend it to people and probably would stay again myself.

Central London in style.

Fantastic location, beautiful decor, unnecessary neon sign in lobby, spacious room, great skybar with view of st. Pauls. Expensive drinks. Quite a business hotel, we were just in London visiting relatives. Nearest tube is 4mins walk away, st Pauls. Really enjoyed using the spa to rejuvenate after a hard day, the jacuzzi was amazing and 5 ft deep. Didn't use gym, lazy bones, so can't comment- looked good though. All the staff were very helpful. Room didn't have windows that open, for safety reasons, but the air conditioning was a bit fiddly and ineffectual, making it hot at night. We were 'upgraded', but I get the feeling most people are. Overall a fantastic hotel and we would stay again.

Staying in a standard room at The Grange St Pauls was a fabulous experience. I got a very good room rate from laterooms and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Unfortunately I didnt eat here nor visit the spa facility but the room itself was lovely, the staff both helpful and kind and the overall experience was a good one. However, I cannot hand on heart say that this is a 5 star hotel. I cant really put my finger on it but I would award it 4 stars myself. The room was lovely as was the bathroom but if I had been paying full rates for the room I would have been slightly disappointed. However I enjoyed my stay and would both visit the hotel again and recommend it to friends.

ONLY FAMILY FRIENDLY AT WEEKENDS

Location, facilities and quality of the service were generally what you would expect from an upper 4* establishment. Unfortunately the inflexible access policy regarding children using the pool marred what should otherwise have been an enjoyable time with the kids over the festive period (children are only given access to the pool on Saturday and Sunday). I raised the matterwith the Duty Manager - Nigel - the reponse was not positive, in fact he didn't even bother to get back to us). It seems that families are only welcome when the hotel is quiet.

A great base - at a reasonable price.

We took our teenage daughters for a couple of days in London and the Grange St. Paul's was an ideal base for the trip: the hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from the tube, on the other side of the cathedral. The hotel is modern and the girls enjoyed the pool & spa - although it didn't open until 9.00am. Unfortunately the hotel hadn't realised we'd need adjoining rooms, and the girls were two floors below us; however the rooms were generally of a high standard...although the satin 'sash' that adorned our bed had toothpaste and various other stains on it, which was a disappointment. We didn't eat in the hotel, so I can't comment on the food: the Cafe Rouge on the corner offers an excellent 'English Breakfast' for under a tenner. Located only a stones throw from St. Paul's, a tour of the cathedral is a must...and at ~£30 for a family of 4, the 3 hours we spent were well worth it. A fascinating building and tourists are well-catered for. I'd certainly recommend the hotel - although it might be worth letting them know that you need adjoining rooms if you have a young family (maybe 'LateRooms.Com' could accomodate this in the booking process?)

Great deal and a great hotel.

I've stayed in the Grange before when it was a bit of a building site and was dissapointed with the level of noise in the building but this visit was great and the room rates offered over the new year were outstanding.
The Grange is superbly located outside of the Cathedral and the walk in to the West End is really nice (but we like walking). The only dissapointment was the bathroom drains were a little wiffy, not really an issue but a surprise for a 5* hotel.
If you book a room I'm sure you won't be dissapointed but consider asking for an outward facing room as your mobile may not work in the inward facing rooms (too much steel I suspect).
