stay Overlooking the leafy expanse of Westminster's Vincent Square the distinguished Rochester Hotel is a model of restraint. The Rochester welcomes the discerning travellers with the charm and elegance of a traditional private club; an oasis of calm yet just moments from Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and London's world renowned West End shops, theatres and parks.Unfortunately this hotel does not accept 'switch' to secure a reservation relax Restrained, elegant and traditionally designed The Rochester provides the most restful environment. The bedrooms are well designed and nicely appointed to ensure the utmost privacy and comfort. Each of the 80 bedrooms, including air-conditioned club rooms (top floor) and executive rooms with private balconies, combine comfort and tradition, with all of today's conveniences. eat Relax in Lords Lounge Bar where you can enjoy a cocktail, afternoon tea, meet friends, or simply peruse the newspapers. Or settle back and enjoy superb dining and fine wines under the stained glass dome of Le Pavillion - The Rochester's classic French Restaurant. For the more informal occasion enjoy the casual atmosphere of Rochester's Bar and Brasserie - the perfect place for a discreet rendezvous over an expertly prepared cocktail. hotel critic: harrison brown A plethera of dark woods (Rosewood), rich features, original glass lift, traditional paintings of a bygone era, and attention to detail. Very smartly dressed and attentive staff scurry about from the small hotel entrance, up and down the lifts, attending to things. Gives the feeling that you are being cared for. This is a traditional hotel - full of character. As a result of this character, bedrooms and bathrooms may be small, and a little "tired" in parts. Overall pleasant, small traditional hotel with good service- pushing it into a 4 star London rating. Location is also good, with Victoria Station and shops a few minutes walk, as is Westminster. Like anything, worthy at the right price- weekend rates are very good.
