Shared toilet, Bed base too small for the 2 single matressess but otherwise adequate.

Negatives:
Room had a shower cubicle in room but toilet was in corridor and shared with other rooms.
Lock on the toilet door was dodgy and my partner got stuck so we subsequently put a credit card in the door to prevent the latch sticking.
Polish decorators liked a laugh and a joke at 0800hrs whilst they were sanding woodwork outside the room door. Had to get dressed to go to the toilet.
Bed base was smaller than the two single mattresses on it and subsequently if you lay close to the edge of the bed they sagged causing you to roll out of the bed, also the base was so far under the mattress edge that the sheets could not be tucked in.
TV was a 14" CRT with a broken remote (repaired with cellotape) which could channel up and that was it. Asked for a replacement but it took two further asks to get one that worked.
Positives:
Good sized room.
Good central locality. 5 minute walk to Russell square tube.
Tea and coffee available in room.

Good chain of hotels, bad choice on my part

Being in a hurry I failed to read the room description fully and realised too late that I had booked a semi en suite room - ie shower and sink in the room but a shared toilet down the corridor. I use this chain of Hotels in London and they are very good so my experience here was my fault alone for not reading the description properly.
I know people who have owned and managed hotels in the UK and have been told that some hotel guests use the sink in the night rather than walk down the corridor and with this thought in my mind I was simply unable to use the wash basin at any time.
All in all this chain have good hotels in great locations but next time I must read the room description fully.

Paul's stay at the Lancaster

The hotel is fine: I got exactly what I expected (lack of en suite loo but what do you expect for a nice clean room off Russell Square for £60)? Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was well presented and clean. Room was spacious and well-appointed (bar loo!). All in all I'd certainly stay there again.

Excellent value hotel

I got a last minute deal to stay on a friday night before xmas and found it to be an excellent value hotel (I paid about a third of the normal price).
It is an excellent location for central london with a 15 min walk to leicester square but in a quiet street away from the hustle bustle of central london.
The room was excellent and had all the standard things and a iron/ironing board which was nice. There was a shower in the room but the toilets are shared for the whole floor (there were 4 on my floor). There was also a TV but it had a limited no of channels (not even all of freeview channels).
I went out for the evening and returned at about 3am. The hotel doors were locked but the reception is always manned so no issue.
All together, an excellent value hotel for the price I paid and I would recommend it to others.

A little dated

Room was clean and tidy but the hotel is quite dated. Didn't realise until after the booking that the toilet was down the corridor from the room. The room did have a sink and shower cubicle, although the shower door didnt close. The carpet had holes in it where the water from the shower has rotted it. We were asked to pay on arrival even though the room was not ready to secure the booking. We left our luggage and advised that we were going to a show so would not be back until late. When we arrived back we were asked to produce our receipt for payment as there was no record on the system. Left the room in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and the room key would not re-open the door.

This hotel is not worth the money you pay for a room where the paint is peeling from the ceiling
The only good point ( if there has to be one ) is its central location, which the owners seem to think warrants the price.

You get what you pay for

The room was supposedly discounted from £160 to £50 and although it was an acceptable clean single bed accommodation, the £50 price was best suited to the room. No food was included, there was a shower but no toilet facilities. Certainly not for couples or anyone on holiday but a relatively inexpensive crash pad for the night.

An Ok place with no toliet in the room.

My daughter booked the room so I am not aware of all that is posted on the web and how the hotel is presenting itself. However, what I found was... No toliet in the room and the shared one was not close to my room either. The first room they showed me smelled of smoke and was dirty looking-... torn carpet, etc.,. I changed to a better room but up several long steep flights of stairs (there was no offer to help with my very heavy bag). There is no internet in the room though WIFI is indicated. It is only available in the lobby or illegally from another source which I was frankly uncomfortable using because there were rumors that it might create some viral /privacy problems. I really needed this for my work so I was annoyed I couldn't work from my room. London is expensive. I have stayed in a number of places of comparable quality or better quality that were cheaper in other parts of the city.... however I chose to stay in this place because it was close to UCL where my daughter is presently going to school. I would prefer to spend more money and have a proper bathroom and larger bed (a little single bed is do-able but not ideal). Still if price is an issue and you need to be in this area then it is clean enough and well at least I can say you've been warned about what you'll get or not with the room.

1 nights stay at the lancaster hotel

The lancaster hotel is in a good position just a few stops on the tube to most of the main parts of london. It was placed in a nice setting and the hotel in general is nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly too. I was a little bit worried about the toilets being separate from the room but they were straight next to out room and nice and clean. The only thing that I wasn't very happy with was the top cover on the bed as it had stains on it and the fleece blanket was quite scabby looking. However the actual sheets were clean and so were the towels. Nice for the money it was just let down by one thing.

This hotel was ok in most respects except that there was no lavatory in the room - there was a shared one nearby. Extremely poor for the price
No one has told me that I got a room without toilet.
Charged my VISA credit card when arrived as standard security for 120£ and would first not accept new card when checking out, could not guaranty sum at the first to be returned before a few days (this is not acceptable on a VISA card) which forced me to pay other arrangements with other credit cards, never seen before.
Price 20-30£ higher than larger hotels around the corner at Russells Square just stepping in from the street, knows as my colleges did that.
And the degree of service like internet, etc.: non existing.
Will not see here either as this absolutely is the very last time here

Decent stay

Hotel was very easy to find and in a great location for most of the central attractions, 20 minute walk to most places and also in a good area for food etc
The hotel itself was quite nice, friendly helpful staff, one thing to mention is that the rooms do not come with a toilet unless you are upgraded as i was lucky enough to be, however everything in the rooms was decent, no quite as big i was expecting for my buck, also no sky on tv.
However in saying all this i would happily stay there again as the place was pleasant and well located from euston station and surrounding tube stations.

Pleasant

Very clean & spacious. When booking into this hotel it is important to be aware that, though there is a sink and shower in the room, the toilet is separate and shared between a number of rooms. However, as we were aware of this prior to arrival it wasn't a problem at all. There were two very clean, modern and spacious toilet rooms to share between a few rooms, and we never had a problem accessing them. We were also previously aware that the hotel has no lift. As were were on the third floor this was a tad inconvenient but not really a problem. The only real issue was the lack of a fridge or any kind of air conditioning in the room. We stayed over the 24th -26th June 2010 and it was extremely hot, so the fact that we were unable to have any kind of chilled drinks or cool air in the room was really a problem, especially as the taps didn't really run very cold. However, in cooler weather it wouldn't have been an issue. So overall a nice stay.

Nice hotel; lovely location

I did not pre-book breakfast but on teh evening of arrival swiped my card at reception for £110 which would have covered breakfast and room. During breakfast, I was asked to sign to say I was having breakfast and tehn to print my name - I didn't mind, but right in the middle of the meal was a bit off-putting. Before would have been fine. The waitress may have asked if I wanted full English - she didn't and just brought me a continental breakfast bill to sign. She just lost them £6...

I stay in this area of London a lot. As a comparrison to others its a nice quiet location and very central. I had a double room on 3rd floor. Good shower and sink in room but toilet was shared. All very clean. TBF having a shared toilet made the room bigger so pro's and cons.
Good comfy bed and all very well presented.

Won't stay again

I booked in here because I normally stay in the area - but across the road. This is the first time in years that I have stayed in a room that has no en suite toilet. I really do not like having to wander down a corridor in the middle of the night to find the loo. The floorboards creak and this wakened me up as I thought that some one else was in the room. also no bedside lamp - so I had to fumble in the dark to get into bed - I didn't stay for breakfast there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Also I did not like having to ring the doorbell to have the door opened - not a good choice of hotel if you are preparing for a busy day ahead -
Staff were Ok - it really is not their fault!

Read terms & conditions carefully

I confess, I didn't read the terms and conditions carefully, which is why I arrived to the smallest room in the hotel, next to the construction taking place... and not to mention... the toilet was along the hallway. I've backpacked across Thailand so I'm not shy on where I sleep. I rarely consider my hotel a must, more a convenience, it's not why I'm in town. I paid £60.00 for my room, in London, which is good, but I'm not sharing a toilet, not in a hotel and not for £60.00, again, having backpacked, one thing I learned fast was don’t rely on other people's hygiene, more often than not you'll be let down. That all said, when I complained and asked for a refund I was refused, and the hotel does reserve the right to do that as I hadn't paid attention to the T&C's... at first it was amicable, then it kinda got heated, then defused, all in under 5 mins. The manager offered me an upgrade for £30.. which would have taken my cost up to £90.. in which case I should have just stayed elsewhere. After some light haggling and a request to see this upgraded room first, before I paid, I was offered a nice room, away from the construction, on the basement floor, with a very comfortable marble bathroom and great shower all for an extra £15.00. Which was great of the management to offer and I had a comfortable bed and great sleep. The hotel is walking distance to loads of Theaters and supermarkets and plenty of tube station options, so it is located very well and if you get a good room you'll have a comfortable stay, at a reasonable price (get haggling) and the staff are friendly negotiable, which in the current crisis in London, I think is the best management I have met to date. In brief, Thank you, it was a pleasure.
