Couldn't fault the hotel

Due to mix up by another online booking site we arrived to find we had two rooms booked. The Hotel staff were fantastic and sorted things out quickly even offering an apology when the problem was not their fault. We will definitely be staying again.

Lovely hotel in a great location

We stayed at the Grange for three nights over our Anniversary weekend.
We had asked for a quiet room and were very pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded to a suite on the 7th floor.
A bowl of fruit was also waiting in our room.
We were able to walk to all our shows and restaurants from the hotel which was great.
We used the gym and swimming pool always a lovely way to start the day!
The only downside was the lift which seemed to have a mind of it's own. It was very slow to arrive and then stopped at every floor even though there was no one waiting for a lift. We often took the stairs as it was much quicker!

May once have been a 5*

I thought although it looked the same as the pictures the reality of the hotel was that it seemed outdated and very worn...in need of modernisation and a refurb. However my room had a wonderful view out of all 3 windows and the furnishings were adequately luxurious. The location was really good, and the price was great - in fact I'd have been happier if it didn't claim to be 5* and said it was a 4*. It would have been more honest. I dont consider it to be a full 5* as I have stayed in many many better 4* hotels - wasn't impressed that you have to call down for the robes if you need one.....and there was no hot chocolate or slippers...just what I needed at the end of a long business trip!

Great location - if a little dated.

This hotel is in a great location, walkable from Euston/Kings Cross and also into the city centre. Our room was fine, clean and with a good shower. The decor felt a bit tired and old-fashioned but was all in good working order. Not quite sure why this is 5 star but certainly no complaints.

Great location, was one of the few last minute places with rooms available the week that US president Obama was in town...
Very nice room, quiet and comfortable. Parking was problematic finding a space, but probably not unique to the hotel or that sector of London.

Nice room, shame about the bathroom

Room fine and lovely big comfortable bed. However bathroom very small and toilet flush sounded like a jumbo jet landing for 3 minutes every time it was flushed. Do not stay in room 222, I would not stay in it again and did not expect this in a supposed 5 star hotel. Reported it on leaving but staff did not seem very interrested or apologetic.

Great service and tip top accommodation by why the tiny bathroom?

Comfortable room and the service was first rate. For a central London hotel a good choice without spending mega-bucks. Great location and leisure facilities where a bonus.
Tiny bathroom was the only downside.

Well located but dated interiors let it down

Nice hotel with friendly service, oddly dated 80s style rooms with an abundance of chintz made it feel rather old fashioned. Some nice touches such as quality toiletries and apples at reception. Very stylish health club downstairs. Recommend, but only for £100 or less!

Soulless experience

Allegedly five star hotel no one troubled to show us to our room or even indicate where the bar or breakfast was. Staff really ignored us throughout our stay. Room was never made up until early afternoon although some knocked at 8.30am on our first day wanting to do it, she woke us both up.
No appointments available in the Spa on either the second or third day of our stay. Dressing gowns had to be requested and bathroom had no heating or means of drying towels, A king sized executive room, not really worth booking.

Hotel had very friendly staff, arrived early, just to see if we could drop our suitcases off and check in later. For an extra £50-00 we were upgraded to an executive room and breakfast included and the room was ready to drop our cases off.
Down side, one of my favorite wines Villa Maria New Zealand was way to expensive.

***Great location - Nice Room - Very clean***

We recently stayed at the Grange Holburn, and found the location, staff and room to our satisfaction. The hotel is in a good location, away from the major surge of city life, but easily accessable by tube to the hub of the city if so desired. One or two stops on underground into theatre-land - what more could you ask.
The hotel foyer could do with a major overhaul but the overall impression was ok. Pool etc looked great, did not use it, room lovely and cool on a hot London day with great aircon, thoughtfully put on for our arrival.
Overall a good hotel in great location in a chic snobby area with great transport links - We will be back for sure !!!

Holborn tube is nearer than Russell Square. Reception Staff were fantastic and managed to find us a room after a long journey on a very hot day when we needed a shower before hitting the shops. Very polite, very professional, very helpful staff. Price for such a good location I thought was excellent. Bathroom was small but perfectly formed. Room was quiet from traffic and other noise. didn't have time to sample the spa or the food!

I booked this hotel at the last minute on laterooms, i was so pleased with its location and the cleanliness, the very warm pool was an absolute treat along with the scented steam room, on checking out i was asked if my room and stay were ok, i was so pleased that i responded very happily and then they told me that i had been given an upgrade to executive double instead of a standard double. So I guess im reviewing an Executive room rather than standard however it was very cheap and reasonable, very very happy.

Grange holborn/city

Fortunately holborn were double booked when I arrived, there was no room at the inn so to speak. the staff sorted everything there was no stress for me. While they resolved matters I was give a complementary glass of wine and I was relaxed in the restaurant and no charge was made for my meal because of the inconvenience. I was taken to the Grange city where my breakfast was free of charge and my room upgraded to the penthouse. I had a wonderful view of tower bridge and the room and food exceptional I would whole heartedly recommend the hotel, the staff were so helpful and everything was resolved promptly and efficiently. They accepted their mistake immediatley and resolved the issue. The customer care was outstanding. We can all make mistakes however it was ensured that this in no way affected my stay and it did not

Great service, shame about the room.

This hotel represents everything that's wrong with the star ratings system. The service was almost fautless (an aloof receptionist aside), the bar was lovely and the pool a really great bonus. However, the room was tiny for the price. Perhaps I am too much of a country mouse but stay in any decent sized city in the UK for this much and there will be 50% more room. To his credit, the manager did read the feedback I left and offered me a free upgrade next time but you only have your tenth wedding anniversary once (hopefully).
