Room very small
Summary
A lovely grand entrance and a warm welcome on arrival. The room was slightly small but fine for a weekend stay. The room was very clean and well equipped. I would have liked a mini bar but the tea and coffee facilities were sufficient. A great location for seeing the sights on London with a tube station within comfortable walking distance. A very enjoyable stay.
Summary
Room, as people have previously said, was very very small. However location is brilliant and the reception areas are very picturesque. Long time to check in and out whcih I am sure will improve. Staff were very friendly and courteous.
Summary
We were most disappointed with the size of the Club room. Very small. Would hate to think what the standard room is like.
Summary
Hotel was very clean and in a good location
club room was very small and the shower needed to have a curtain or a bigger screen to stop water going over the floor.
Picked this hotel on the day of arrival using previous reviews. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and whilst on the small side very functional. I would certainly consider a return visit as it is a good central location with access to transport and places to eat etc.
Summary
Position of hotel excellent very close to tube (queensway and bayswater), and on edge of hydepark 10 minutes walk from paddington. Room clean and modern but very small ok for us as we only slept there. Would stay again if price was right needs to be less than £100 a night.
Summary
All good, Convenient and affordable. Thank you all
Summary
The room was clean and the fruit basket, comlimentary wine and water and chocolates a very nice and welcoming touch. The full english breakfast buffet very good. Great value for money and will stay again. Service was very good too.
Summary
We booked a club room at this hotel for a one night stay. When we arrived we were informed that we had been upgraded to a luxury suite! The room was very large with a superb four poster bed and had complimentary fruit, chocolates, wine and soft drinks. The ensuite was also very large with twin handbasins, a victorian roll top bath and open shower area, A range of good quality toiletries and white bathrobes were provided.
The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cooked english and continental available.
The hotel has a very interesting traditional wood panelled foyer, staircase and resident's lounge and would be of historic interest to any visitor.
The hotel is in an excellent location just across the road from Kensington Park and close to two underground stations for easy access to the West End.
We know we were lucky to get the upgrade and have read other reviews criticising the room sizes but we can only judge on our experience, Staff were smart and very helpful.
All in all it was a great stay!
Have stayed many times, excellent helpful staff, always sleep well thanks to very comfy bed and pillows, whilst small rooms, you expect same in London same are always clean, book a delux for that bit extra space etc
Summary
The room wasn't to the standard listed on my reservation. It is probably the smallest room I have ever seen in a hotel. The door lock was broken, as were the curtains. There was no heating in the room - although there seemed to be no fewer than 3 methods of supplying heat none were working. To cap it all there were spots of blood on the towel - I can't say for sure if it was returned from the cleaning like that or where it came from but it wasn't good. For the first time ever I felt compelled to complete the in room survey. I was asked how my stay was by the reception staff - but I felt it unfair to take it out on them. Even at the "special" rate this hotel wasn't worth it.
Summary
The hotel was very conveniently located near to Tube Stations and very lovely. The entrance is very lovely looking although the rooms are not in the same decor' but very nice and clean. The only problem I had was the drapes did not block out the light as I would have liked but they did prevent full sunlight to come in. In the mornings I prefer a dark room and this wasn't available, otherwise the hotel was great.
Summary
Hotel very grand!! Room small but comfortable and clean - we had a lovely stay! great location close to bayswater station and Hyde park lots of bars and resturants around the corner as well as shopping centre.
Summary
A very nice hotel, well located and friendly staff
Summary
I work in London at least 4 - 5 days per month so I've become a regular of the smaller boutique hotels within the £90-100 per night rate. This hotel is in great location for public transport, has the feel of an authentic London guest house that has the added benefit of being completely innovated inside. The room was fresh and modern which was unexpected having passed through the lobby / reception area which has a very traditional feel - good contrast. Clean rooms with all new / modern equipment made for a pleasant stay.
Summary
After reading reviews on Trip Advisor (too late to change my booking) I was fearful of what I would find. However, for a 3 day (2 night) break in London, the Grand Royale was just grand. Location is perfect - only 2mins from the Central Line (Queensway) and the same from Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens. Twin room in the basement was larger than I'd been expecting, well appointed although the shower is small. I stayed on 2 of the colder nights of the winter but Reception responded straight away to a request for extra blanket and room heater. They allowed me to check in early and were happy to store my luggage on the final day. With free apples every time you pass Reception, it was really good for a city break.
Summary
This is the second time we have stayed here. The entrance, lounge bar and dining rooms are rather impressive and makes staying here a little more exciting than your normal regency terraced hotel. It is clean and the staff are all efficient and nothing was a problem- even when we wanted to change our room. The reason we changed room was this year it was a lot smaller than last year, so you may wish to bear in mind when booking. Breakfast is £12 if you book or £15 if you just turn up.
Summary
Good value, convenient location.

Summary
Because I got a last minute deal, the hotel was (for London) excellent value. But people paying the rack rate may not be so happy. Although my room was clean and kitted out in an up to date way it was VERY small - I was upgraded to a double on arrival and this double was tiny so I dread to think what the single was like. I heard other guests complaining about not being able to swing a cat in their room and there being no space for luggage. In my room both the phone and the safe were dysfunctional although the staff I had to summon in the small hours to assist were alert and helpful. The public areas of the hotel are very characterful with a lot of 19th century panelling and Victorian paintings - kind of like the set of a Hammer horror movie. The location is very good for shops, public transport, and Hyde Park. This place must make friends and enemies in equal measure.
Summary
Great location for the west end , very nice room , good value for money , clean and very tidy
Summary
I would definitely stay there again great sized room. Excellent :)
Summary
The room was tiny with lots of fittings hanging off. Had to remind reception about the wine and water that was supposed to be in the room ( this spoilt things some what ). The wine was only a small bottle, and for the price the breakfast was lacking in quality.
This was my second stay at this hotel and fourth stay in the Shaftesbury group (I've also stayed at the Shaftesbury Hyde Park just up the road). the entrance and lounge is very grand. Once again the room was small, but spotlessly clean with a very comfy bed and good TV system. The bathroom was the same standard as the other hotel I've stayed at - clean, bright, modern fittings, fluffy towels and nice spa products. The only small niggle was that I asked for a room away from the lift - but got one directly opposite. Having said that I didn't hear a thing all night - so the rooms are well sound insulated . The location is also perfect, equidistant between the Central and the District/Circle line. I would definitely stay here again.
Summary
We stayed at the Grand Royale London Hyde Park for a weekend break in London before Christmas.
The location of the hotel was perfect for us just around the corner from Queensway station which is on the central line and 3/4 stops from Oxford circus. Also the big tour bus has a stop quite close to the hotel so it was ideal for us sight seers.
The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated and as it was in the run up to Christmas so there were garlands over the fireplace and Christmas trees up which really added to the magic of the lobby.
The room was quite small (but what you would expect from a London hotel)
I felt what really let the hotel down was the staff's attitude. On arrival they were not very welcoming and I felt that I was an inconvinience to them in some way. I didn't mention it to the people we were travelling with however when we got to the rooms everyone commented on what I was thinking. It happened again when we approached reception to ask for directions and again on check out so it wasn't just a once off grumpy member of staff
All in all I would recommend this hotel to people going to London for a short break. The location of it is the winner for me just don't expect to be bowled over by their customer service!!!
The hotel its self is lovely 3 star hotel and the rooms are good, avoid a single room they are very very small, where it lets itself down is staff. They are nice but very inexperienced which makes checking in buying drinks and eating at the hotel a poor experience. If you just need a bed for the night then book this hotel but if you need anything else don't.
Summary
Every time I stay here, a dissatisfied customer is debating a problem with reception!
Summary
The room was way too small for a double, which in theory is supposed to big enough for 2 adults. The air conditioning, even though set at 17 C, was blowing warm air and coupled with bolted windows, the air in the room was incredibly stuffy. The service was probably the worst I've ever experienced, especially considering this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, most people there were clueless and or useless. We sat 15 min at the bar waiting for somebody to come to us, which never happened, the porters looked scared every time you asked them something, and even though I had complained about the air conditioning, nothing has been done to fix it. The only good thing about the hotel is its central location and proximity to 3 tube stations and Hyde Park.
Summary
There where at least 5 damaged or broken items in the bathroom, plug broken on sink and bath, shower dial broken, extraction not working etc.
Heating in the room on/off only....Aircon had been "switched off for the winter and the windows locked" so room very very stuffy especially after a shower.
Room tiny as a double even by London Standards.
Was upgraded to a Club Room on arrival but it was not as nice as the previous standard room.
Few comp items such as robe, mineral drinks etc (but no bottle opener??)
Why was I given a room when clearly it was not guest ready??
Clearly this Hotel does not care about guest service at all!
We booked a deluxe double room but even so, the space was cramped with barely room to walk around the bed. The bathroom was tight and the shower screen so useless that water sprayed everywhere. There was an extra space to the side of the room, so at least we could open our suitcase, unlike our friends who had an even smaller room! We can't believe that this hotel has a 4 star rating. We were provided with shampoo and soap, but no shower gell or conditioner, the towels were well worn, the bed (2 singles fastened together), had an uncomfortable gap up the centre. We've had better facilities in a 2 star B&B.
Summary
This hotel is neither Grand nor Royale in its presentation, and seems to use its one impressive reception room to try and imply in marketing that the rest of the hotel is in keeping with this. The rooms are small and there is a very obvious lack of maintenance - fittings broken or hanging off walls, ill-fitting construction etc.
Which I would not say the hotel is bad, which it isn't, it is at best just about satisfactory but one can - and should - do far better for the price of this hotel.
We stayed in a club room. Of course the rooms are small we are talking about London. The staff was always busy. We had to call three times and wait for almost an hour before they came to bring toilet paper. Another strange thing is that i had to pay for the room when we checked in. Then they charged us in EURO's in stead of Pounds, they did not give me an option. The did not explain why and before I realised what went on it was not possible to turn it back. Breakfast is poor and ends very early for a weekend. The bathroom is extremely small and when I took a shower everything got wet. I was very disappointed about this. The staff does say hello but do not expect more from them. I will not advise you to go to this hotel and I am very surprised it has 4 stars. The only positive thing was the location.
Summary
The hotel was a lot better than I expected, with friendly staff and is very convenient for access to the Tube at Bayswater as well as Paddington and Lancaster Gate.
Summary
I wouldn't stay in this hotel again. The room was very small for the price I paid, plus i couldnt get a mobile phone signal and the internet connection didnt work so i was unable to communicate with the outside world. I asked for an iron and ironing board so i could prepare a shirt, when it arrived to my room it was covered in oil which subsequently ruined my shirt.
Summary
Hotel was lovely but 'superior' room (the larger of the two options) was very small. Bathroom was so small had difficulty manuevering around it. Other than that, nice.
Summary
The club twin room I booked was incredibly small and at times 2 people "bumping" into each other were far from ideal. By comparison with other hotels this cannot be a club room! Also the bar did not open until 6pm and closed at 11.30pm.
Summary
All in all good. Small rooms. You have to be able to allow Gods given air into a bed room. It is disgusting not to be able to open a window.Give the customer the choice. The A/C was very needed.
Summary
Just a Shame along with lots of Hotels That you cannot check in Before 1400 Understand Rooms need to be cleaned etc Having said that Found the Hotel along with the staff Brill Yes Would Def Go Back again But Not sure I would at Full price oh just one more thing ! The shower curtain was too short so water went all over floor !!!!
Summary
The rate was shown as originally £475 discounted to £185 for the club double. It was great value for money for the discounted rate but if you paid £475 you would not be paying a fair rate.
That said the room was compact but perfect. The staff were very helpful and the barman made fantastic cocktails!
Picked this hotel on the day of arrival using previous reviews. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and whilst on the small side very functional. I would certainly consider a return visit as it is a good central location with access to transport and places to eat etc. Customer Service Quality of Room Quality of Food Cleanliness of Hotel Value for Money Family Friendly
