I thought everyone was helpful and I enjoyed the breakfast
Summary
Very friendly hotel, breakfast was delicious and served by friendly waitress tea and coffee was beautifully hot !!
Summary
A very pleasant and neat place, a good service and a real good English breakfast!
Summary
Friendly staff, good breakfast, and marginal accomodations for the money.
Summary
The hotel was reasonably well located for the tube; Paddington station being a 5 minute walk away. The staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. The room was of a reasonable standard. It was of a size that one might expect for a hotel situated in Central London. It had it's own toilet, wash basin and shower. The room was clean and well heated. The breakfast room was also very clean and the food was of a good standard. All in all I enjoyed my stay at this hotel
Summary
Very good nothing to say bad....warm room, nice shower room, just strong +++
thanx
Looked OK ish from the outside, the reception decor was poor and a charge was levied on my credit card payment something I have never experienced at a hotel as the spend is way above the normal retail minimum of £10. The room was on the top floor with the steepest staircase climb I have yet to attempt, so steep we could have made good use of oxygen and crampons!! The room was dismal and the so called en suite was a dingy walk in cupboard and was scruffy to say the least.
All round a let down from a low expectation given its location and price.
I was delighted with my ground floor room, which was clean and roomy. The shower was good with considerable water pressure. The staff on duty were pleasant and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate my needs. As a place to stay at the height of the pre- Christmas rush it represented excellent value for money at £45.
Summary
Basic but very clean. En-suite bathroom was spotless. Staff very friendly and 24 hour desk. Paddington tube only 2 minutes away and plenty of restaurants. Only downside is no lift and I was on 3rd floor so you have to be fit!
Summary
This hotel was clean and welcoming with a great breakfast. Its not the Ritz, but you get what you pay for.
Summary
For all the wrong reasons. The mattress was possibly new in 1939. Whoever owns this beautiful period building should spend some money on it. Typical rich owners. Charge a premium and provide a sub standard room. The location of this hotel is superb. The room was appalling. The shower dirty. The toilet with a massive crack and dated around 1973. The breakfast was edible but only just. The girl serving was polite. The reception chap was polite. If I had a DJ's turntable, it would play something like this. RRRRRRRRRRR Rubbish. All for £78.00.
Summary
Let's start with what was good - the shower room was recently refitted and brand new. Everything, in fact, was very clean. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room, and breakfast was very good (I walked in and thought it looked a bit basic but it was super, freshly cooked by a charming lady).
The welcome left a lot to be desired - for some reason they were expecting 4 people under my booking and were very irritated just to get me.
The big problem, for me, was that there was NO heating, at all. And this was December. I know it's been a mild winter, but really.
I booked last minute, struggled to find anywhere, and it was clean and respectable. So if I was desperate again, I would stay again. But preferably in a warmer month.
Excellent, small and friendly. Highly recommended. Nice clean room. Helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Summary
The hotel could probably use a refurbishment but it is, clean, warm and very close to Paddington and transport links. The staff were incredibly helpful and it is close to central London and transport links. Also well situated for walking. Lots of cafe's and restaurants close by to suit anyone. If you are looking for value for money this is a good option.
Summary
Stayed at the Gower last night. Great location, good humoured and helpful staff. Room was compact but clean and comfortable. Very good value for money. What more do you want for £50?
Summary
Excellent value for money. Staff very obliging. Excellent breakfast.
Hotel is generally shabby but to be expected for low rates. Bedroom was adequate but the ensuite bathroom was of low standard.
Conveniently near Paddington Station 10 mins walk. Near Lancaster Gate tube 10-15mins walk.
This hotel provides a very basic accommodation but its very clean and comfortable. The TV has good selection of channels, the shower is really good. The guys working at the front desk were nice and friendly. Breakfast was included but I didnt use it. Its very well located, very close to Paddington Station and within a walking distance to Oxford Street. One tip for potential guests, ask for rooms that are not in the basement, my room was right next to the breakfast room and it gets very noisy in the mornings. All in all it was good, you get what you paid for.
Summary
I've stayed in all sorts of fleapits in London - and there are some ghastly ones I can tell you.
This isn't one of them.
The Gower is different. It's budget and offers a clean compact room with good service. You'll struggle to beat this place in terms of VFM. NIce reception staff (thanks guys).
Downside? No elevator, which is a bummer with a case (I was in 304). Upsides were that the bathroom was clean and so was bedroom. Just pulled in 1 bar of free WiFi from across the street. A budget brekko but at £58.00 there wasn't much to complain about. Have booked on my next biz trip.
Very pleased with the hotel for the price.
Summary
Friendly and helpful staff.

Summary
Ideal accommodation for a one night stop over in central London. The only point to make a plug in the sink would be useful.!
Summary
Stayed here at short notice and was happy wih the quality. We had the largest room, a 5 person familly room and it was large enough for 3 of us, certainly better than other hotels I've stayed in in the same area. The room was clean and tidy with a large flat screen tv. The bathroom was adequate, though the shower was decently powerful, the only slight problem was the wash basin drained very slowly.
The cooked breakfast was fine, not great but as good as you seem to be able to get at this level of London hotel.
Overall I'd be happy to stay again.
Not a bad hotel, room was clean but very very small and basic. Food was average at best but staff were very happy and helpful.
Not a great hotel, but for the price, you will struggle to find something similar in such a good location.
Great location for Paddington. Rooms had bare essentials and were in need up refurb. Family room had tiny bathroom. Breakfast nice. Overall overpriced for room quality.
Summary
A group of us 3 women stayed at the Gower Hotel and all thought is was very central to our needs. The breakfast and accomodation was very good the only thing i feel i need to complain about was no lift. We had a room at the very top of the hotel and as my cousin suffers with bad knees she found it hard to get to the top without pain, also having then to go another flight of stairs to the breakfast room!!! Apart from that the staff were helpful and welcoming and i would definately stay there again if i need to be in that area.
Summary
It was a perfect location and open 24 hour so there are no restrictions on what you want to do. Bed was good bedding not but it worked. Safe were helpful and willing to a accommodate. Breakfasts ended to early for any sort of partyer so missed that but over all for just a place to keep your stuff and sleep/relax was great
Summary
We stayed in the gower hotel while in london celebrating my wife's birthday. location very good for trains and underground from paddington station. staff very polite and friendly and great value for money. only slight downside was we were on the 4th floor and those stairs were a treck after a long day in london but over all a lovely little hotel.
Summary
Went to london for a concert in hyde park.Hotel was ideally positioned for this, was within walking distance of paddington train station and hyde park. The room was ok for just sleeping in although located near the breakfast room so very noisy from 6 til just after 9. Ideal for a short stay if all you want is a bed for the night!
Summary
Good value for money. Not a posh hotel, hard to climb all those stairs as we were in Room at the top, but we did it. Great to have coffee and tea in the bedroom, lovely white towels, en suite, comfortable beds, bedside lighting, TV etc, and a window that opened. Breakfast was good too - not masses of choice, but all the usual, orange juice, cornflakes, museli, cooked breakfast, coffee or tea and toast.
Summary
Good value for money, very steep stairs after 2nd floor no lift ,shower very small
Summary
Arrived mid afternoon and waited 15 minutes for the door bell to be answered. Room small but clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was minimal. Overall, for the price we paid, it would have been unreasonable to expect anything grander.
Summary
A value for money hotel with a breakfast included. Tube station near by along with bars/eating. What more does one need.
Summary
Cheap and cheerful. Good value for London. We were on the 4th (top) floor. Breakfast in the basement. 90, yes 90 stair steps from basement to top floor, NO LIFT!!!!!!!! When you go down for breakfast make sure you are going out for the rest of the day!
Summary
Good location 2 mins walk from Lancaster Gate, or Paddington tube station. Very helpful and polite staff. Bathrooms and general decor a little tired but clean and not a bad size for London.
Only negative is there is no lift so quite a few stairs if you are on higher floor.
Breakfast very adequate for the budget. Would definitely recommend to a friend
For a 2 star hotel this is quite nice. But if you have higher requirements you shuld coose another hotel.
Free brekfast, buy we ate on other places. It was small resturant and bad personal.
Good location, not far from Paddington.
This small hotel (steep stairs and no lift) is very comfortable, if basic, and about 4 minutes walk from Paddington (for Heathrow Express). The area has everything a tourist could want - restaurants, pubs, Underground Station, hospital and lots of buses, etc. The hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. There is 24 hour reception. Breakfast which is good can be a bit crowded.
Summary
Good value for a hotel within walking distance of Paddington Station. Cooked breakfast included in the price.
Summary
The staff were friendly, the accommodation and services provided basic but clean and perfectly adequate. Unfortunately, the room smelled strongly of old tobacco smoke.
SummaryThe hotel could probably use a refurbishment but it is, clean, warm and very close to Paddington and transport links.
