The hotel was easy to find close to Hammersmith U/G rail link only 5min walk away, clean tidy appearance, staff polite and helpfull, room was clean only fault was no air con. Wilst waiting for our room to be ready we sat in the dining room, as there was no lounge, there was an unwell elderly gentleman lying on the couch, and he was coughing badly, and we thought this was unhigenic as it was the dinning room. Breakfast was basic cereal, orange juice, egg fried or scrambled, with toast, tea. It was oK at the price we paid.

Trip to Shepherds Bush

We were going to a concert at the Hammersmith Apollo and this hotel was ideally situated. The room was very clean and comfortable and we were very pleasantly surprised, as some of the reviews we read before our stay were not favourable The shower was hot and superb. I would definitly stay at this hotel again.

Decieved

I booked the to stay at the Grand but was told on arrival my wife and I would be at No 85 down the road, we were the oldest in the GUEST HOUSE and were given the top floor room with some six lots of stairs to climb.
Door hangs off wardrobe, two out of five lights bulbs do not work in the room, radiator cold can not be turnd on.
The office was open plan within the dinning room, how wrong is that.
Make up your own mind about it but it could not be called good.

Great Place To Stay!!!!

We went to see drake n jcole perform at the hammersmith and couldnt have asked for a better location to stay at. the room was really clean and spacious, and the hotel owners surprised us with two double beds n a single when we were expecting one double bed and two singles! if anyone is thinking of stayin in london for a few nights n is on a budget i would 100% recommend THE GOLDEN STRAND HOTEL :-)

This was a late booking and I chose price and location over star-rating. Unfortunately this was an unwise decision. Although the location was great (was staying in Hammersmith to see a band at the Apollo) and the staff were friendly enough the single room was very small, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable (springs had seen better days), the tv wasn't tuned properly and I skipped breakfast through lack of choice - don't expect a full English, scrambled or fried egg is as far as they go.

Great base for a trip to London as close to public transport and on the piccadilly line straight to Heathrow. Customer service was excellent - everyone was friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to the family suite as the hotel was full which was a nice surprise! The rooms are ok, basic and looking a little worse for wear, but fine if you are out and about all day and just needing a bed and hot shower at night. I really only had 2 concerns - 1) the toilet seat was cracked (& therefore would pinch me!) & 2) the shower was unpredictable (changing temperature on its own) which could be a problem if kids were using the shower. Otherwise, a basic, no frills but comfortable accommodation.

Awful - AVOID

If you have any choice at all avoid staying at this hotel - when you call and ask for directions and the person answering doesn't know them it isn't a good sign. When there are no towels, cups, glasses in the room - and the number to call for reception is a chargeable mobile - with no choice other than to call from your own mobile - then things are getting worse. FInally when you're in a room that requires acrobatics to move between the bed and the toilet and you've paid £100 for this dubious pleasure? Enough said.
