A god hotel at a good price

Lovely building, good room, professional staff, 5 minutes walk to Victoria Station, good price. What's not to like?

Clean but compact

May be I'm not use to paying London prices, but I was expecting a bit more value formoney for a superior double room. Whilst the room was very clean and the bed was incredibly comfy and a great size, the room was tiny and the bathroom even smaller, so much so that we had to keep the bathroom door open in order to get out of the shower!

My thoughts

Cramped and undistinguished room, pinched from a corner of a more grand salon. Mascerating toilet unwelcome.

Nice staff, nice food, disappointing room

The staff were lovely and very helpful and friendly. Our breakfast was excellent, great quality food with lots of choice. the location was excellent (only 5min walk from west end). However, the room was small and old fashioned. the bed was extremely uncomfortable. we could hear pipes banging at night. the bathroom was tiny.

Nice comfy, homely hotel but some rooms are tiny

I've stayed here twice and like the fact that it doesn't feel like an anonymous chain. Although it's not far from the back of Victoria Station the road is surprisingly quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast isn't great and expensive for what it is (i've generally given it a miss). I've stayed in two different rooms and they have been of a good size and well fitted out but probably more like a B&B than a standard London hotel. Last time the room I was put in was tiny (really tiny) but they were able to move me to a bigger room. Just to add that the hotel covers 4 or 5 storeys and there is no lift - so not a good place for anyone who can't manage lots of flights of stairs.

LEISURELY STAY WITH FAMILY

We booked a five bedroomed room and stayed in the Bower House which is just round the corner from the main hotel. Staff are absolutely lovely. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Joe, the porter, was very nice and carried all luggage to our room. Complimentary tea and coffee in room but there wasn't a telephone. The Georgian House hotel is in a great location and the hotel kindly allowed us to leave all our luggage at the hotel for the day after we had booked out which was just great as we'd done lots of shopping! We would definitely return and recommend this hotel. It was very good value for five people.

Close to town

We stayed in the Bower House an annexe in the next street. Our basement room was modern, spotlessly clean and well presented with an in room safe which was easy to operate and free of charge. The bed was comfortable but alas I had a fitful sleep owing to sloping roof windows that let in a fair amount of light. Two lights in the room were not operating. The shower/toilet was cramped but absolutely modern and spotless.
Breakfast was very good, if a little cramped and if you came at the wrong time you may have to wait for a table to become available/

Noisy hotel

For the money, this wasn't a bad hotel in terms of room and food. I've stayed in much worse.
However, it was very noisy with doors banging to 3 in the morning and stairs creaking. I could have just been unlucky as there were some teenagers staying in the hotel. Even so, I left with about 3 hours sleep. Not good when you've got a full day in the office!

We were staying in the separate Bower Room block, just round the corner. This was generally fine, but if it had been pouring with rain or very cold it would have been miserable to have to go across for breakfast.
The breakfast room was very cramped.
BUT the room was lovely and the staff were friendly.

Terrible

This is the only hotel I've stayed in where the ceiling height was greater than the room length. The room felt like a prison cell. It was very narrow, with a single bed and a poor en-suite. Breakfast was appalling; after on mouthful each of bacon, suassage and egg I stood up and walked out.

This hotel ,although small was spotlessly clean with good quality bed, bedding, towels, toiletries and food. The staff were very friendly and helpful, all very efficient.
The only thing I can say is that on the evening I could not get warm or hot water out of the shower, I phoned reception and the receptionist explained how to use it, by running the basin tap to warm water first and offered to come up nd help, all good but perhaps this should have been explained on booking in.
It was very quiet at night but very noisy early morning, there was a lot of noise that woke us, like a loud engine that I think were the bathroom fans from other rooms. On the whole though, the cleanliness, breakfast, staff friendliness and the quality outweighed these. Also handy location.

Clean, friendly, good value, good location

The Georgian House was a pleasant surprise, within a reasonable walk or £6 taxi ride of Victoria Station. The room, including the en suite facility, was spotlessly clean, with a TV and tea-making facilities (we advised them to ditch the Twinings Black and stick to Typhoo or PG Tips!) The staff were cheerful and friendly, and the breakfast, with full English available, was of a good standard. If the general decor was a little old-fashioned, it did not detract from the overall good impression. At about £220 for two weekday nights, it compared very favourably for value with other London hotels.

Good location good value will stay again.

Booked hotel as it was close to a my meeting loication the following day. On arrival was met by friendly reception manager and allocated room 47. The hotel was in process of updating and being re-decorated. My room had a doulble and single bed and a clean newly refurbished bathroom. The room was more than big enough for one but may have been a touch cosy for a family of three. Only one minor issue with storage space in the wardrobe for hanging clothes.
The breakfast was more than adequate, service was friendly and extra toast and tea was readily offered. Great value and an ideal location for my needs, I will book again.

The breakfast saved this hotel from an even lower rating

Parts of hotel look very tired, in particular stairs corridors and luggager store -
The "nd flloor room was small for a double at that price and the ensuite was too small - the shower door is obstructed by the toilet seat.
Staff were friendly but offered no help with luggage - NOTE it appears there is no lift!!
Only the breakfast saved it - its a pleasant light clean resturant in the basement - but avoid a table by the kitchen door

The plumbing needs attention

My room had a feel of being fairly recently refurbished so was clean and comfortable. However, no account was taken of me being a female travelling alone, I was given a basement room, and athough it seemed to open onto an enclosed yard it had patio doors with what felt like not very substantial locks. Worse than that was the room was the noise from the room I above, which I think was reception, I could hear every footstept, everytime the receptionist moved his chair or opened a drawer! Added to that was the pipes banging and creaking every time the tap was turned on upstairs! I felt as if great effort had been made to make the room comfortable but unfortunately that was offset by the noise.

Good hotel, lovely staff, good value for money!

I stayed here for only one night, but the staff was great, especially the breakfast area staff!!! Very polite and helpful! The only downfall of the hotel is the size of the rooms - very, vry small. Apart from that, it was very clean throughout.
