Gate Hotel out of 5 Customer Rating
Good location but poor hotel

It was all a bit shoddy really. i've been itching since i left and i suspect the hard bed had unclean linen- it certainly looked a bit suspect. Noisey plumbing, loose tap. pokey stairs, room and shower. Strange breakfast room delivery system required everyone to phone up at 8am to request a time (no earlier than 8.15am) for staff to place your breakfast tray on side board in room. This had a tea pot containing hot water which i presumed you added any left over tea bags from your room supply to. Staff attentive and did their best but attitude not really helpful or friendly. An experience that for £70 a night i don't think was any sort of bargain. I did though manage to sleep so perhaps it could have been worse.

The worst Hotel we stayed in for Years

People unfriendly, room in the basement, half of the lights did not work, heating only when they feel like it, breakfast is in the room at a time it is convenient to the owner, consisting of a pot of hot water 4 pieces of toast 3 half pieces of cheese and ham. They charge 5% extra if you pay by credit card.

If this hotel were cheaper it would be ok

Our room was tiny ! But adequate. In a nice location and close to everything we needed to get to.
Not very friendly, we received an email saying we could check in at 12, but when we arrived at 12.05, we were told the room wouldnt be ready until 2pm, ( also desperately needed the toilet, but was told no ) so we had to wander around with our bags for 2 hours.
Breakfast was extremely basic, two miniature boxes of cereal, a pot of hot water, one small carton of orange juice, and one small carton of apple juice, four slices of toast, with two portions of margarine, one portion of marmalade, and one portion of jam, two slices of cheese, and two slices of ham, one small jug of milk which was to be used for cereal and tea and coffee, this was all for two people !
Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in, and the price was a bit steep for what you get.
