I have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions, and for the money I paid, it's excellent value for money. The rooms are spacious and clean. I don't know another chain like Holiday Inn that does a pillow choice either! Breakfast is good value, staff as pleasant and helpful. My hotel of choice in this area.

The Holiday Inn Express in Croydon is one of my main stop off's when travelling down to London for my modelling assignments. The staff are courteous and friendly and always willing to help and solve any situations there and then.
The continential breakfast's are pleanty and alway freshly made and pipping hot.
Even the cleaning staff have helped me with my bags when checking out.
Definitely a 5* hotel in my eyes and I'm as fussy as hell.

Whenever I'm in London for my modelling assignments, my first stop off is usually Croydon and I have been staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Croydon for about 7 months now.
I find the staff extremely friend (almost bend over bacwards to help you- as long as your polite). They try to get you into your rooms earlier than the specified time, if they can.

Travelling with my friend for a weekend event in Croydon, we have rarely experienced a more friendly welcome that that which we received from the delightful staff at the HI Express. Ben the duty manager greeted us and explained everything in detail. We took up the offer of a parking space onsite (good value at £12 for 24 hours) which was right outside the hotel door and we were quickly checked in and relaxing in our room. Other options for parking is an arrangement the hotel has with a multi-story some five minutes walk, where the changes are £7 for 24 hours.
As the hotel does not offer evening meals, we were provided with local takeaway menus who deliver to the hotel. You are welcome to eat this in the breakfast area or in your room and the hotel provides crockery and cutlery. The hotel does have a bar, but Ben advised us that we were welcome to consume our own drinks in our room and that they would even provide us with an ice bucket if necessary. That is an amazing touch and so welcome to have it offered to us on check-in.
Our room was very clean and well-equipped, plus there's a notice in the bathroom advising that any essentials like toothpaste or shaving cream are available at Reception - complimentary.
Breakfast is a robust affair with choices across continental and hot options, all served on a buffet basis. The tables are cleared quickly by the efficient staff.
For the price and location I really don't think we could have done better and I would heartily recommend the hotel.

Very satisfactory stay. Thought the loo shower combo was great - especially door for loo.

The hotel was a bit tricky to find due to sat nav but once there it looked nice enough. The staff were friendly and booked a taxi for us etc. The parking was a bargain (off-site) at £2 for 24 hours. While I went to park, my wife and 2 girls (6 & 3) were left to struggle with their bags. We were only on the first floor so it wouldn't have taken long to help them. The room was very nice with the kids bed made up and it was very clean and comfortable. The only thing in the night was that there was a fire alarm ringing around 4.30am for some time which I was told was the store next door and there was nothing they could do. Didn't wake the kids up so not a huge deal. Breakfast the next day was lovely with a wide-choice - even sausage and egg were available which I didn't expect. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express and have already told a few people how nice it was for our family of 4 - we had a very comfortable stay.

Nice hotel, with helpfull staff and good offers from good restaurants in the neigborhood. Ok area for shopping as well.
Improvment if hotel had given us all good offers from pubs and restaurants at check-inn first night we stayed at the hotel - now we only got to overview the last night.

Staff extremely helpful and accomodating, was very impressed by them. Hotel was very clean and our room for the money considering the location so lose to london was great value for money. Would definately recommend.

Hotel nice & clean! Looks recently refurbished! Room comfy & shower great! All happy till breakfast! Diabolical! Never know such a poor quality poor choice breakfast! Nothing there I'd give to an animal let alone paying guests! Big let down!

The hotel was basic - no option to upgrade room. Initially I asked to change room due to the bed being awful! However, the member of staff at reception was as helpful as she could be and allowed us to change room where the bed was an improvement.
The room was very clean and adequate for what we needed - to sleep, wash and change and go out but was very small for a "family room"... certainly nothing fancy. Had tea / coffee making facilities a powerful shower and clean fluffy towels.
The breakfast wasn't great.. my husband had been looking forward to a full English but was disappointed to find soggy scrambled eggs and dried up sausages on offer! I had a continental breakfast - cereal, toast and a yoghurt which was nice.
I was particularly pleased with the member of staff who checked us in and arranged for us to park outside temporarily while we got settled into our room - this was over and above what I had expected and it made a big difference to my day.
I'm not sure I would stay here again mainly due to the size of the room - not ideal with a 4 year old and because the mattresses most definitley need changing. However, friendly sfaff and good location, Qpark excellent value with hotel discount. Sort your breakfast out though! Thanks

It is a really nice hotel. the room is clean and we all satisfied with the size of the beds. very nice for family to stay.

The room was fine, although we were woken up in the early hours by the noise outside, and by the hotel telling off our neighbours for smoking (not really the hotel's fault and we're glad they took some action). However, the breakfast was awful - 'hot buffet' was simply not true - just stone-cold scrambled eggs and some sausages that had been hanging around for a long time. Rest of the food and drinks a similar quality. On a Sunday morning we got caught behind a queue of about 50 overseas students, all trying to serve ourselves in a tiny area of Reception. No staff around the breakfast area. Serious need for someone to do a time and motion study! One of our main reasons for booking this hotel was that breakfast was included in the price, but compared to what you can get up the road at Jury's Inn it made the overall deal pretty poor value for money.

Booked the Holiday Inn as all other Hotel on LateRooms were innapropriate (too expensive or essentially crap). Landed on the Holiday Inn and for value-for-money haven't seen better in Croydon. Never been dissapointed by a Holiday Inn, ever. Was a single night after a evening out in central Croydon. Bed are very comfy, shower/bathroom very clean and all you need. TV, hair-dryer, etc... All you need is there, all you have to do is turn up with a change of clothes.
Great stay, mostly enhanced by the lovely company.

We only stayed over night as I had an early appointment in the morning. We also arrived late so we didn't get to have the food & can't comment on that, though the dining room looked clean & tidy. The staff were friendly enough & quite helpful. The room was very small for 3 of us (myself, my husband & our 12yr old daughter) but it was tidy. I wouldn't say it was the cleanest room I've stayed in though, there were stains on the carpet and the grouting in the shower was every colour under the sun! The towels & bedding were clean however as was the rest of the bathroom.
Also they need to update the parking cost shown on late rooms as it was £9.90 for 24hrs in the multi-story near by NOT £7.50 and the "on site parking" consisted of about 4 spaces so no wonder it's first come first served!
All in all, it was ok for a quick visit but I'm very glad that we didn't pay the full price of £180 for the 3 of us for 1 night!

I stayed at this hotel for one night with my husband and 4 year old son. The hotel was clean, well maintained and provided all that we would expect. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for our needs. The breakfast was great.We would definately come back again.

We arrived quite late so there were very few staff around (1 receptionist and 1 gopher), however the receptionist was very friendly, helpful and efficient - especially as another family of 4 arrived just before us and asked to change the type of room they were in.
The room was fine for a family of four, although we did have to remind them to make up the bed for the kids. Again this was done very quickly.
(Hot) Breakfast was acceptable, although the sausages and eggs were a little dry because of the warming plate.
Good value and very central - although watch out for the market that dominates the area on a Saturday.

Commute into London fantastic - Leave the car (£12.00) for 24 hrs - Tram stop to train station only 2 minute walk away - train into London main line station 18 minutes. Make sure you book your parking though as spaces are very limited.
The type of food served is limited - continental with scrambled eggs and Halal sausages - this should really be mentioned in the information I expected full English as I have experienced at other Travel Inn's - but they do allow take-aways in at night and the delivery services seem reliable.
Due to the area of this Travel Inn the majority of fast food establishments are Halal serving but you do have a very wide selection to pick from and there is always the supermarkets open late on the main road.
Nightclub across the drive from the front of the hotel makes weekend nights noisy and early morning delivery to the Debenhams store also distrubs sleep - so if you are a light sleeper or have children with you ask for rooms at the back side of the hotel as far away from the nightclub as possible.

Helpful staff, clean, comfortable quiet room, good value for money.

Typical Holiday Inn so plain rooms but tidy and clean and reasonably comfy. Good location if you need to stay in Croydon. The only negative thing was the breakfast which was the worst I've had at a Holiday Inn - the sausages looked like they had been cooked for days, and the eggs were like powder, and there was a very limited selection. But overall, if you're not paying too much then it's a good hotel.

The breakfast was the disapointment ! Although I can't complain about the price (included in the deal), the "hot" breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs (please, PLEASE, someone teach your cook how to cook them) and sausages (dry as hell).... It's not fair for me to complain about the croissants, as my knowledge of them is French, but they did appear to be heated from frozen......
On the PLUS side, the reception staff were of a calibre I would normally associate with a 5 star hotel (extremely polite, efficient, courteous and helpful ).

Very, very,very limited parking makes access difficult especially as the website map was of little help in navigating Croydon's one -way system.

Great value for money without having to stay in a "cupboard" like most Express hotels.

I've stayed at the holiday numerous times but this was unlike anyother.
I went to relax and get away from the stresses of work and homelife to be stressed even further.
The bathroom stank and continued to stink all night. By 8am a church service was being held next door on what sounded like a megaphone. The breakfast has no real vbeggie option which doesn't leave much to choose from. The church service continued until 2pm which I had complained about to reception who had to then refund my money and apologise perfusely at checkout. Had to get another duvet, heatings a joke. I am now considering another place stay an will not be returning,

The reception staff was great, friendly, helpful, accomodating. I spend around 70 nights a year in hotel for business purpose, and the was the best welcome I have had in a few years.

Needed to stay in a hotel for one night, near London. Hotel was situated right in West Croydon's shopping centre so plenty of shopping and restaurants too. Quiet hotel, though I would have preferred the room to be a bit darker.

The food was rubbish, no soap in the soap dispenser, stains on the carpet & to top it all the heating system failed on the coldest day of the year so far. The management were useless & just gave me extra duvets & blankets. They stated they did not have any portable heaters & could not repair this until the next day. I froze all night under 2 duvets & 2 blankets - as I had booked the hotel to have a good nights rest before my exam the next day, I was extremely disappointed & more stressed! Breakfast was dry & overcooked. On a positive note the beds are comfy at least.

Generally I was more than happy with the hotel and the accomodation it afforded. Staff were very helpful throughout and were happy to offer advice on local transport arrangements, which took the stress out of the finding my way around a part of Greater London I knew nothing about.
Breakfast was a bit of a melee but that was our fault for leaving it until the last minute. I've had worse breakfasts for a lot more money!
All in all, not a bad experience and one I'd be happy to repeat. Thanks.

Went here based on Laterooms reviews but wondered if we were in a different hotel. Arrived an hour after check-in time but room still not ready. Had to wait another half hour, unable to use ground floor toilets (still being cleaned). Checked in only to find we'd been given a twin instead of the double we'd booked. Offered a smoking double which stank. Room badly serviced (only one tea bag, soap dispenser in shower not dispensing etc.).
Reception amazingly then asked if we'd like to join their loyalty scheme!
One reviewer did describe breakfast as 'chaotic' - I'd add a few details. Not enough space for people to sit; no bowls for cereal/grapefruit; really badly designed lay-out with everyone accessing the buffet squashed into a cul-de-sac. I could go on but suffice it to say there are plenty of mid-range hotels which do get things right. I complained to Holiday Inn and received an e-mail with platitudes and mission statements - little compensation for a spoiled week-end.

We could not sleepin the beds because they were very small and the matras were ver bad.
If you lie in bed, you can feel the spirals!
