On my recent stay at this very diapointing hotel I was greeted in reception (the best part of the hotel) in the usual manor, but there was a group of people already complaining and leaving the hotel after only one nights stay (good start after a 5 hour drive). Obviously this arose my concerns and unfortunately they were correct, even though the hotel had signs up regarding refurbishment work was underway I think a bulldozer would be more fitting. The room was one of the refurbished ones and was ok but very ruff around the edges and the coridors leading to the rooms are awfull and very tired. This did not encourage me to stay any longer than sleeping, so I did not want to explore the 5th floor for breakfast in the morning just incase further disapointment awaited me. Hope this review helps stop further disapointment for other business users.

This room was located away from all other rooms. Even though locateed away from other rooms it was very noisy outside. The room was very hot but you could not turn off the radiator. The TV picture quality was poor, it still has the price on it from cash converters of 19.99. Outside the room was very noisy as you could here lots of banging first thing in the morning. I personally not stay there again and would not recommend this hotel to anybody in the future. The shower was also not very clean.

Free wifi was advertised when booked but there was none, it has since been removed from the description. Fixtures were falling off the walls in the bathroom, and we had to get a replacement TV remote as the wrong one for the set was left in the room. Other than that, it was ok.

I have stayed her a few times (which tells you I think it is generally OK). Its a great value hotel. Cheap and cheerful. Howevere on my last stay I was put in room 14 - ground floor next to the snooker room - once someone started playing snooker at about 11pm there was no sleep - snooker in not a quiet sport! So the Hotels good value for money but ask to move if put in 14!

This hotel is in serious need of a refurbishment. Our rooms were clean, but dilapidated.
The staff were friendly but many did not have clear enough English to understand or cope with requests from the guests.

I had reservations no pun intended about this...
I had reservations (no pun intended!) about this hotel having read the reviews AFTER I booked it. However, we decided to go ahead as it was only really to be a base for visiting London. It was the cheapest option we could find for a family room.
On arrival we were advised that they were unaware of our booking. However, this was soon sorted out and we were advised of our room. We went to our room at about 3pm and it wasn't ready - it hadn't even been touched and was in a right state. I managed to grab a cleaner and she prioritised the room but it wasn't even on her list to do! This was after we had advised reception that the room wasn't ready and we went out for an hour so they had an opportunity to sort the room whilst we were out.
The room was fair after it was cleaned but it had a broken shower bracket so you had to keep hold of the head! There were also only two plug sockets in the room so if you wanted to use anything you had to unplug the kettle or the TV.
Breakfast was very poor. Despite our booking containing a free "plated breakfast" we didn't even bother asking and stayed with the toast and cereals. It was a free for all and understaffed and untidy - no tables were being cleared until the end of the breakfast period.
The train station is about a mile or so away and parking nearby was cheap (30p per hour) if you didn't use the station itself. The hotel offered free parking but we decided to drive to the station as we didn't fancy the walk back in the dark. It wasn't the best of areas.
Overall I am not too disappointed as we only paid 108 for 4 of us to stay for two nights but I wouldn't recommend staying nor would I go there again unless it was the cheapest option again.

Excellent value for money and adequate for our requirements ie one night stay.
The rooms are clean but are in desperate need of some tlc. Most disappointing was the poor quality of the matress - extremely uncomfortable.
The hotel is quite lovely and the staff were very helpful and polite. If they invested in new mattresses and a little DIY I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Volveramos a ir. Adems la counicacin con Londres era muy buena en 20 minutos en tren estabamos en la estacin de metro de Victoria. Lo nico que no podamos salir de noche porque el tren no sala ms despus de las 11:00.

I stayed at this hotel after attending a wedding in the local area with my partner. After only looking for a hotel the day before, this hotel was one of two choices - I chose this one. When we arrived there was obviously a wedding happening at the venue aswell. There were kids and young people running about everywhere, in the hotel, on the stairs and outside in the carpark, making up noise. Considering how tired I was after travelling down from up north that day, it was noise I didn't need. I hoped that we would not be put in a room which overlooked this - when given the room key and asking specifically if we would be able to hear any noise and being told no, we were not surprised to find this was not the case. On a hot day, it was impossible to close the windows to cut out the noise. My partned went back to the receprtion and insisted on a more suitable room as it was a disturbance. We were given another room to the back of the hotel which was more suitable...until we entered the bathroom where there was no curtain/blind/whathaveyou in the very large window. At that point, we couldnt be bothered to go all the way back to reception and dodge all the kids running on the stairs on the way, we just held up towels for each other, while the other used the toilet/shower.
Other points:
The reception area looks very posh - its very misleading.
No side lamp in the bedroom- very annoying.
Excellent to have free parking, poor parking organisation. People park anywhere at the back and you can get trapped in, or end up trapping someone else.
The TV remotes did not work and the reception was very, very poor.
Customer service was poor and the gentlemen on the front desk was rude and not very understanding.
Didn't want to try the included breakfast due to above issues - and I like to eat!
Don't want to be all negative, but it is difficult to find positives of this stay. This hotel is ok if you dont mind bearing your naked body to the public and poor customer service and if there is no party happening downstairs. Otherwise, its ok.

It's clear that this was once a half decent Swallow Hotel that's been allowed to become run down dramatically. The rooms are grim; 30 year old curtains, peeling paint, knackered carpets, scruffy bathroom etc. It looks like they got a small budget for basic refurbs which they wasted on cheap little flat screen TV's which got placed on a wall in a position that you cant really see it from your own bed and they didn't bother to put it on a swivel. I'd rather they had spent the cash on some paint and carpeting. The room was dirty and I get the impression housekeeping did a swift once over at best - for example I stayed 3 nights and the used glass from the bar I Ieft in my room on plain on the first night was still there on the morning I left. The beds were actually ok. The electrcity was broke on my arrival, I had to keep going back to reception to get my keycard rejigged because it didnt work (you have to do this on return to the hotel anyway if you go out but even then, I found I had to do it 2 - 3 times). Location wise it is pretty poor - it's about a mile and a half from the nearesr station (Gipsy Hill) and although connections are good to Victoria the walk up the almost vertical hill is a killer (there are no taxis to be seen). The area is a bit dodgy, I got hassled by a gang whilst carrying laptop and bag which was unsettling. Food in the hotel is dire. Staff were pleasant enough. Loads and loads of shouting and screaming outside all night until the very early hours which was annoying and odd. Only thing going for it is the room was cheap so if that's all important to you and you're happy to drop your standards then compared to other hotels I've stayed at which are in that budget range then it aint too bad I suppose - you get what you pay for. I only booked because the photo of the room fooled me into thinking it looked remarkably good value but I had an inkling there would be a catch and I was right. Breakfast was included but I couldnt face it - especially as it was on the 5th floor and the lifts took forever - when they were working.

On arriving at the hotel the staff were friendly and all seemed fine, once checked in and seeing our room we were a little shocked. The thing that struck me most was that the shower door was missing so when you had a shower the water went all over the floor- there were holes in the wall where something had been removed and the carpet didn't fit and was halfway up the skirting board as it hadn't been trimmed, there were no tea spoons with the coffee making facilities and the toilet seat was once black now covered in lime scale giving it a public toilet appearance. Having said all that ,the bed linen was fresh and white and the breakfast was buffet meaning you could have a nice full stomach to start the day. We did have the last room at the hotel as a large school exchange party was staying, so I'm guessing this isn't the norm- but if you are told you are booking the last room beware!

The room was filthy and had obviously not been cleaned properly in a very long time, the carpet was dirty and had cigarette burns in it, the curtains were falling down, one of the beds had dirty sheets on, the bathroom had mouldy tiles some were even missing, an extractor fan with an inch of dust on it and a unflushed, soiled toilet basin. Avoid it like the plague!!!

No sign of the free plated english breakfast! Juice, toast and cereal available, but no chance of getting near it - free for all and no queue - and nowhere to sit and eat it - all tables fully occupied. No staff in evidence to ask.
First room we were allocated was awful - very pokey, nothing like the pictures on the website, and the shower was off the wall. The second was much better, and much more what I was expecting.
If I could be sure to get a room like the second one, I would stay again.
