Adequate but a lot could be improved

Tiny single room. En-suite toilet and shower were tiny broom cupboards. No double glazing so lots of outside noise. Freeview TV was not tuned in, so no channels 1-9 - I had to retune myself. No phones in the room, so no wake-up call facility. Very basic cramped accommodation, but just about adequate and price was reasonable given London rates.

Fair enough but don't bother with the breakfast

Tiny room but cheap and clean. Wifi was free but so slow as to be unusable. Breakfast was toast and thermos type urns of tea & coffee with cornflakes and plates of ham and cheese. Very limited space at breakfast time.
Having said that the room was acceptable and the location is convenient.

Poor breakfast arrangement

Dining room was not big enough for the number of bedrooms. No organisation i.e. some people standing up eating pushing in & getting in the way of staff. Only one choice of cereal, wafer thin cheap ham with plastic cheese slices was poor for the price paid (even for London).
Room was clean but microscopic for two people. Hotel is only a short walk from King's Cross & ideal for short stays.

An excellent budget option

Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was better than I was expecting for the price, continental breakfast was good. Overall an excellent budget option and I would definitely stay at the Elmwood again.
The hotel is also in an excellent location a stone's throw from King's Cross Station. The only qualms I have about my stay are the fact that the hot water didn't kick in when the shower was on for around five minutes and the TV signal wasn't great. Overall though a well run, clean and friendly option.

The staff were very friendly (especially on reception & in the breakfast room), the hotel was basic, decent enough to stop over for a night while visiting London, and fair for the price. I stayed in a small, single room, that had great Wi-Fi and was near the breakfast room. The only points for improvement would be a duvet instead of a thin blanket & also having to leave my key at the door when I go out is a bit of a nuisance.

This is a perfectly suitable budget hotel with modest accommodations and a few very friendly staff members. The room wasn't as clean as I would have liked, but it was good enough if you simply need a place to sleep. Definitely better than a hostel.

Reasonably priced hotel near to St Pancras/Kings Cross stations

The Reception staff were all very helpful and welcoming. I found my single room very clean and reasonably furnished and, although small, it was plenty big enough for one person. The breakfast was adequate, but if like me you are not keen on the cheese, ham, bolied egg variety of continental breakfast there wasn't much choice. Would have liked a choice of different bread or fruit. The breakfast room was however very efficiently run. I was able to leave my case to collect later and as it was only small there was no charge. A larger case would have cost £5.

You get what you pay for

This room served its purpose and the hotel was fine for what I needed. I paid £225 for 4 nights and got value for money, however, the single room I had was in the basement under the lobby so you could hear everyone walking around and the drainage from bathrooms was a noisy reminder that you were staying in a 'budget' room. Having said that the staff were friendly, the room was clean and I am quite happy with what I got for my money.

This room was very small but that is to be expected in this part of London. I had a new TV, a kettle, a hot shower, and a good night's sleep. A good choice if you want a clean cheap room close to Euston and King's Cross.

Good value basic accommodation

Elmwood is well located in a quite cul-de-sac a few minutes walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras. Staff were polite and efficient and allowed us to leave our luggage as we arrived too early for check in. Stairs and landings were. a bit shabby but room was much smarter and spotlessly clean. Decor plain and simple but was a bit on the small side for a triple room (the en-suite was tiny).
Continental breakfast quite good. Overall, a perfectly adequate place for a night or two and good value compared to a Travelodge.

Adequate for a one night stay

Adequate accommodation for one night, near St Pancras. We were leaving on an early Eurostar and therefore were informed we couldn't have any breakfast as the staff were not in until 7.30am. It would have been appreciated if something could have been offered or a discoult offered, As this is so convenient for three mainline London stations, there are probably many guests have the same experience.

Excellently located - just 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross , and very quiet surroundings.

Quiet location, perfect for closenss to a main train station.
Received a warm welcome from helpful staff.
Room was nice, clean - and good value for money. Although, you could hear other people's water mechanics - from toilet/shower in rooms above/below/oposing. But aside that , a good night sleep was had :)
Breakfast very disappointed , just cornflakes, white bread and ham/egg on offer. But to be expected from price.

Basic accommodation

Bedroom basic but clean and comfortable and looked as if it had had a budget refurfishment. Coffee in room was not so good and the milk seemed a bit off. No hair dryer which is a basic necessity although one was available at reception which was a long trek. Shower room was really pokey and a fair bit of mould around. Water supply was terrible and loo didn't flush too well. Shower was either boiling or freezing. Not so much choice at breakfast but what there was ok. Overall though for 40 pounds a night I doubt if you could get much better in a convenient position such as this. Staff were perfectly nice and pleasant and, apart from the shower room, hotel was ok. However, having a comfortable shower is important to me so I would't use this hotel again. Pity really. Maybe other bathrooms are better.

Ideal for a works christmas party in camden center

The key search criteria was closeness to the party (0.3miles). I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the room, comfort of the single bed and power of the ensuite shower. This is a no frills B&B hotel but with ensuite, tea and coffee in room and a basic but sufficient continental breakfast (drinks, proper ham, cheese, cereals, yoghurt, boiled eggs and toast) for £50 was very good value.
This would be a good option for stopping over before an early Eurostar trip if you don't need the frills.

Do not accept American Express

Contrary to the late rooms description this hotel does not accept American Express, which I only found out on arrival. The (single) room was very small, and the windows very thin meaning traffic noise all night, but the room was clean. Wireless internet would not connect in the bedroom, but was available downstairs. Given the late booking and price I can't complain, but I wouldn't stay here again.

I arrived at London King's Cross late and wanted somewhere to sleep and a basic breakfast before a meeting the next day.
