You really do get what you pay for here.Staff - reception was curtious, polite, helpful, an very pretty (I'm vain, i dont care). Kitchen staff for morning breakast were just as good.Room - I stayed in the most basic accomodation in the place. Single room, shared bath room. It was bascially a cupboard but they managed to squeeze in a single bed, a sink, a kettle, some drawers, and a cupboard. Space was well used and it suited my one night stay just fine. The window faced on to the main street and there was some traffic noise but it was not as bad as some of the other bad reviews i read. What was WAY more annoying was the way the window rattled constantly. TIP - i manged to stop it by rolling up towel and resting against the pane from the radiator below the winow. It seems the slieghtest bit of pressure silenced it. One major gripe about the room. The LCD TV was attached to the side of the cupboard at the foot of the bed at such a height that the best view of it was standing at the front door of the room. Lying in bed, couldnt make out the image. Sitting up in bed, coul kinda make out the image, but had to sit up at an angle so as not to be lying on the lamp on the head board. Very poorly considered, but it not like i spent any time in the place, so i didnt really matter. And it was all very clean.WC - This was all very studenty, but without the mold and squaller. No shower curtain. Just one of those crappy shower heads that attached to mixer taps (not the uber-crappy rubber ones though, one thats built into the tap). But again, very clean.Breakfast - a good fry up. no complaints here.Over all, it serves its purpose and is worth the money.

This is a great position for Oxford/Bond St Marble Arch etc. Quirky use of space in bedroom, bathroom could have been positioned much better. Breakfast was only till 9.00 am and was lukewarm and had been cooked hours previously which we thought unecessary. However staff on reception were lovely and it was good value for central London

The Edward Lear hotel is perfect if you're...
The Edward Lear hotel is perfect if you're a shopaholic. The close proximity to Oxford Street means you can shop and dump your buys back in your hotel room so you don't have to lug them abt. There's no lack of dining options and the Tube's a minute's walk away. I got a single room facing the road but it wasn't a noisy street at all and although the room was really quite small, it was definitely cosy and offered a good night's sleep. The shared bathroom's spacious, and probably a better idea than getting an ensuite maybe, and was always available when I needed it. Housekeeping is done daily, something you don't get with some B&Bs, and a fresh set of towels provided. The free wi-fi was a plus. The only downside is that you might need to share squeezy tables with strangers during breakfast given the tiny dining room but that's alright - always good to meet fellow travellers! Also, if you need the receptionist to call you a cab, specify whether you want the hotel's limo service or a normal London cab. I made the pricey mistake of not doing so and paid GBP$12 for what would have only cost 5 pounds.

The next time I stay in London I shall definately stay at the Edward Lear hotel. It is very handily placed two minutes walk from Marble Arch and Hyde Park. Oxford St is also within easy walking distance. The rooms are large and comfortable. The hygiene was very good. The only slight quibble is the coffee in the bedroom isn't the greatest. The breakfast was very nice, with the food being well cooked and generous portions. The Dining room itself however seems a bit cramped, and if your're not near the window it can be a bit warm. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly. Indeed the waitress'es are also very attentive and efficient. This hotel is better suited to couples on a city break or business people rather than families with children.I hope to stay here again in the future!

The hotel was in a fantastic location... only a few minutes walk to the busy oxford street.... it was walking distnce from everything.... the hotel room was lovely... very clean and had everything you needed.... the decor wasnt great and the food and drink served for breakfst was terrible but if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful b and b that is central to everything its a good place to rest your head.... would recommend for a girly one not really for a nice stay with a partner...
