Overnight stay

We had seen the outside of the hotel previously which looked inviting so we booked for our next visit to London. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful and our bags were taken up to our room which was on the first floor facing the back of the hotel. It was a little small but I guess was typical for London hotels. We had a dinner date elsewhere so did not have dinner at the hotel. The night was somewhat disturbed by the constant humming of the airconditioning unit nearby. The cooked breakfast in the morning was warm but surprisingly all the items on the menu were individually priced which caused concern to some of our fellow guests. The staff were friendly and helpful. Checkout was fairly quick. To sum up, the hotel was comfortable and clean and the staff were very friendly but a set price for breakfast would have been better.

Are stay at the Durrants Hote

The staff were very helpful and polite, however we found the room small with a substandard carpet and we were disappointed there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

Overnight stay

My friend and I stayed for one night as we were attending a family occasion being held in the hotel. We were impressed by the courtesy and help given by all staff and the quality of the food was excellent. Our room was comfortable and well equiped and despite being allocated a double room when we had requested a twin we did not feel it was necessary to make a fuss for a one night stay. We will certainly hope to stay in the hotel in the future

A dignified, elegant hotel whose sadnesses are forgiven by its perfect location

On arrival, the unsmiling receptionist was efficient but looked sad, as did the young lady who delivered breakfast to my room. My room was sad too, and didn't deliver the promise of the photos on the website. It was overwhelmed by an enormous TV and an air conditioning unit, expected, I suppose, by many guests. The dusty Venetian window blinds needed a good clean. Breakfast was delicious, the tea good and hot. The bed was very comfortable, with good quality linen, and I slept well, having requested and been given a quiet room. I liked the atmosphere of the place and the friendly staff, and the little vignettes of alcoves, display cabinets and cosy sitting rooms. I would love to spend a winter weekend hibernating in this hotel!

Beautiful hotel

My friend and I only had a 1 night stay in this lovely hotel as we went to a concert, but wish it could have been more so that we could have appreciated the beautiful bar and lounges on the ground floor, although we did have a good look round before we left. We would certainly like to stay 2-3 days another time. Also it was a great location just behind Oxford street. We could not comment on the food because we did not have time to eat there.

Great place to relax after a show

Although steeped in history, Durrants Hotel was far from rooted in the past. Bit of a rabbit warren, but not too difficult to negotiate. I really don't understand why tea and coffee making facilities were not available in the room, whereas no expense was spared on the Apple TV, the bathroom decor, double hand basins, plants and the wonderful bed linen. If I was to be picky about the cleanliness, although everything was spotless, the overflow and waste outflow were filthy - please instruct your cleaners to deep clean these areas.

A peaceful and clean room

This was a late booking for me and I arrived late at 10pm on a Saturday night. My room was at the back on the second floor. It was comfortable, clean, spacious and most importantly quiet. I slept in 'til 10am and the cleaner observed the "Do Not Disturb" notice that I put on the door handle. (so often they don't and knock anyway in many hotels).

Good hotel for tourists as near all major attractions.

Hotel downstairs much more impressive than the upstairs which is in need on redecoration.
All staff were very efficent, friendly and helpful,
Did not think it warrented the price.

I only spent 1 night at the hotel, but it was quaint! I liked the fact it was individual, and not like being in a chain! Rooms at front a little noisy!
Breakfast great range on menu. Quality good. Lovely to be in a dining room where mobiles banned!

A place to enjoy as well as stay.

Extremely comfortable, squeaky floor-boarded, wood paneled, virginia creeper clad, Georgian hotel in what has become one of the best locations in London (Marylebone). Durrants Hotel probably hates being described as old-fashioned but to do otherwise would not only deny the charm of this genteel hotel but fail to convey the refreshing contrast between it and the slick, stripped-down, soulless and formulaic alternatives that now populate London. Service is discreet, helpful and courteous and all modern needs are met (even though they do, annoyingly, charge for WIFI). It's more of a Club than hotel in both size and feel and for that reason alone it is unique. An unhurriedly nice, restful escape from the rush of London.

Durrants Stay

All in all I'd say that my stay was not would I'd expect of such a hotel with such a reputation.
I've been in the industry for over 20years and would have expected a bit more from such a 4 star hotel.
To pay for the parking I thought was outrageous.
There was no room service menu available in the room and had to ask for this and a drinks list - and was then told the only drinks list available in the hotel, was in the bar?
There should have been more choice on the breakfast pre-order list. Although when ordering a cooked breakfast through room service was quite good.
I felt that the hotel could have done so much more and gone that extra mile. If had have done so, would have spent more money?!
