Overpriced, dirty, disappointed and would never stay again

This hotel is massively overpriced, even with the so-called 70% discount we got. The room was tiny, there were dirty handprints ap the wall on all on the glass bathroom door (didn't want to think too much about why they were there!). Rubbish shower. Hotel was overall of a poor standard, an apple core was on the stairs, now this might sound petty but looked like it had been there a good few weeks which shows how much attention they pay to cleaning!
Really wanted to complain but we checked in late when there was only night securiy on the desk.

Better off in a Travelodge!!

I stayed for one night and arrived at 10pm to a very rude and unhelpful man on reception. After being given no indication about where to find my room or what floor it was on, 6 floors later I found my room. Disappointing is an massive understatement!
The bathroom was tiny, and the tap didn't work for the first 3 attempts, and when it did there were massive air locks constantly. Green bits of mold flaked off the tap when it was turned on. Not to mention its minuscule size.
Technically there was a lot crammed in the room, unfortunately I could reach everything provided from my bed as it touched the walls on 3 sides, meaning the person on the right side of the bed would have to climb over the person on the left to get out.
The steps were worn and potentially a falling hazard, further to this there was a large black cable running across the floor and under the bed which I couldn't unplug and kept falling over it.
Recommend room 607 would serve better as a cupboard.
There are plenty of other hotels in the area, which if you look through a price comparison site, are no more expensive. Do not stay at Duke of Leinster Hotel!

Don't expect 3 single beds in a triple room!

Booked a one night stay for Saturday 3rd December specifically requested a triple room and the confirmation stated there would be 3 single beds (we were three 6ft+ males who weren't keen on sharing a bed!) . When we got to the room there was 1 SMALL double bed and 1 campbed that looked like it would collapse if a fly landed on it! I complained to reception who stated they don't have 3 single bed triple rooms so Laterooms have it wrong and they didn't have another campbed or matress to put in the room. I ended up sleeping on the floor and one of my party took the matress off the campbed. Even if there were only 2 of us sharing this is no way a 4* hotel. The shower was small and the room very warm. Avoid!

Very positive experience and would definately stay again. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Situated in convenient location, underground and cabs easily accessed. However, the coffee provided in the room was shocking and not worthy of a 4star establishment. Unsure whether to mention the local flasher as not really the fault of the hotel but certainly provided another story from the weekend!

Great location & value for money

This hotel is in an excellent location, it's not four star but worth every penny for an overnight stay at £50 on a Saturday in London!!!! My daughter has stayed here before, the staff were very accommodating as we needed our room a little earlier than the normal check in time. Bed was comfortable. One slight thing, wouldn't stay in room 301 and 302 as you can hear other residents banging the exit door but overall a comfortable stay (and we managed to get free parking nearby).

Not for the faint hearted

From the moment we arrived and my boss and I were told we would have to share a room due to unforseen 'repairs' we knew that our experience was not going to be the best. The apologetic receptionist could offer no alternative but offered such a feeble discount that we asked for our money back. He eventually phoned someone and agreed we could just pay for one room so we decided to make the best of it. At 7.30 the fire alarm started, then stopped, then started again 3 times before jamming on incessantly. Staff seemed totally unconcerned and said it happened all the time but that the technician was not available to sort out the alarm! They told us to go down to breakfast. Just as it was about to arrive the duty manager, who was also the chef! decided there might be a fire after all so we were all shepherded out into the street. 20 minutes later the rest of the hotel guests, mainly students, made their bleary way out. Another 20 minutes later a fire engine decided to arrive and a full inspection was made of the building, but it turned out to be just the faulty fire alarm after all. We had no time left for breakfast but were told we would still have to pay. All in all, a very poor London experience. Definitely not recommended.

4*? They must be stars from a different galaxy!!!

Reception reminded me of the reception desk at an NHS hospital! Guy behind the desk (apparently the night manager also) couldn't have been slower unless he was going back in time!! Then he demanded that he take a copy of my ID which is a first for me in the UK!! Really not happy about that. The room was in the basement. Was supposed to be a double, but there were 3 single beds crammed in there. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen in my life, but they did provide complimentary shampoo and shower gel. The room was at the front of the hotel and the windows were ancient so you could hear Every single car and person who went by. No aircon in the room which for the UK probably wouldn't be a problem, but it was boiling in there!!!
Room next to the kitchen I think and from early in the morning the smell of food was overpowering and the constant slamming of doors ensured I didn't need an early morning wake up call.
Didn't eat, so can't comment on the food. On leaving, I asked for the photocopy of my driving licence back, the receptionist didn't want to hand it over. I insisted that she is not allowed to keep a copy of my photo id and she just rolled her eyes, actually said "whatever!" and handed it back to me! Nice!
Two other points are that the place seemed fairly clean, no complaints there, but if you need to use the lift, you'll need to do two trips, one for you and one for your bag as there is no way that you would both fit in there at the same time!!!!!

My night at the Leinster Hotel

I could live with the very small room, as the fixtures and fittings were excellent...fabulously clean, high quality with a superb shower (and lovely shower gel). But the heating was uncomfortably hot, couldn't be turned down. The window couldn't be opened at all, so it was unbearably stuffy. A great nights sleep didn't happen because I was ridiculously hot.

Clean but with room for improvement

I had booked a double room but upon entering realised they'd given me a twin. No matter I was on my own anyway. Although a room in the basement it had a window which is always a bonus. Room seemed modern and clean, however black mould in shower tile grouting loses a couple of marks. Worst point was that the headboard unit was designed for a double bed, but because they had decided to put twin beds in, one of the beds had the bedside light right in the middle of my head! Which bloody hurt like hell when I sat up in bed without realising it was there. Just plain stupid and unsafe.
In general, a good enough room for the £109 I paid, but don't be fooled by the "normal" price tag of £300 per night.

Nice hotel with astonishing room prices

Hotel was as you would expect in the very centre of London. Clean, had all the necessary facilities and luckily found it at the very reasonable cut price of £50 instead of £300. However, upon arrival there was a small sign with room rate prices, and for a single they charge and astonishing £1,000 a night! for a quad family room it was £1,800 a night! If you are going to go, use LateRooms.com. Apart from that there were no problems at all.

The hotel staff were very helpful, when we arrived our room wasn`t ready, but we were allowed to leave our bags behind the reception until we returned. The room was very clean and well equipped, plenty of tea and coffee. The bathroom was small but adequate for my husband and I. We went to London for a concert in Hyde Park, so the location of the hotel was excellent too!! I would definitely stay at this hotel again and I would recommend to a friend.

Not what expected for price

The room was listed as a standard double room (room 204) but though room clean it was tiny and only suitable for one person. If one of us wanted to move the other had to stand in the window or lie on the bed. Room directly behind reception desk separated by a dividing corridor. In a previous existence this area was obviously a large reception area but it had been divided to provide maximum revenue. The bay window had a wall built in front by not more than 12 inches to accomodate the corridor separating the reception and the room. I assume that the other half of the window was within the reception area. ( I do not know what the adjoining room 205 was like, I question whether this had a window at all). To add injury the building was undergoing building work with scaffolding. Rubbish and building materials were left carelessly outside of what window we had. We did not take advantage of breakfast - added cost, but this appeared to be the only facility. I would not class this as a hotel, merely a basic room only facility. The room for the second night was offerred at £50 this then would be good value and you get what you pay for , but then the first night was £280 which overall is a rip off! As we knew rooms were at a premium for this week end and we did not expect to spend very long in the room we did not complain at the begining of our stay but the response on leaving was cursory. I would not like some one else to experience this room. It was claustrophobic for two people. I would suggest that the hotel reopen this area as reception and office area again then they may have better reviews from their customers. This assumes that other rooms are much better than the one we stayed in.

Pretty shoddy all round

- Hotel only had 1 ironing board and 1 decent iron which was not available when I requested it; I would not have been able to iron had I not kicked up a fuss, and the receptionist gone from room to room to find the only iron!!!
- Chef had not arrived for breakfast, so not cooked breakfast, leaving a pretty poor selection of cold foods, accompanied by instant coffee; I was refunded for breakfast with no argument, but would have preferred to get the service I had paid for
- No facilities to get any refreshments in the hotel
- Pillows smell like they had not been washed, and had a distinctive smell of someone elses sweat - always nice
The advertised usual price of £450 for the room, is clearly a con; This is not the Ritz, andshould have been usual price of £129, reduced further.

As suspected I was woken in the early hours of the morning (4am) due to natural sunlight shining through the window straight onto my bed which was placed in front of the window. I spent the remainder of the morning trying to get to sleep but couldn't. When I checked out I asked to speak to the manager but was told he/she was unavailable. I would say that the hotel is better suited to people traveling without small children due to the thin walls and loud door mechanisms and also best avoided if you a re a very light sleeper on a busy business trip, other than that it was a great place, clean room, friendly staff (even when mistaken) and convenient location to access many parts of central and western London.

The cooked breakfast was terrible so on the second morning we only had the continental breakfast which was pretty average. No soap in the room no milk for the coffee and tea making. There appeared to be a long standing water leak which run from the roof down the side of the building which continued throughout the night. We did report this but I suspect it will not be sorted. We paid for a double room only to be given a twin room and were told there were no other rooms or manager present to deal with this. Filthy toilet bowl. Noisy room with single glazed windows and busy road. Thin walls, could hear next doors conversation. Was all this because this room in an allegedly 4 star hotel was supposedly discounted from 300 to 85 pounds for that night?
