Summary
Have never stayed in a hotel as poor a standard as this before.
Summary
Shower was broken and hanging off the wall.
Bedsite light broken.
toilet seat broken.
hallway carpets were dirty.
did not even see hotel staff at breakfast
Not remotely worth £89!
The bathroom in the triple room was tiny. Seriously had to leave wash bag outside and keep visitng to collect toothbrush etc. Room was ok, but basic. Breakfast room was tiny - very friendly staff but at 8am room was absolutely packed - if you like sitting with other travellers / families, in fact just about on their laps then this is for you.
Summary
Small room with even smaller en suite but nevertheless quiet and comfortable.
Shower was not very effective - low volume of water with poor / no temperature control and no plug on wash basin.
English Breakfast was good as was the service.
Reception staff were very helpful.
Clean and compact !
When I work in London I generally use the opportunity to catch up with friends. This means I am rarely in the hotel and literally just sleep there. For this reason it was fine, the room was ok the TV worked and the breakfast was fine - although the breakfast experience had a hostel feel.
The only quirk was when i requested an iron, after frantic calls to numerous hotels, I was told they didn't have one. Which meant I had to drip dry my shirts.
Having read comments I was kind of disappointed to be in the same room as he had been, fearing the rumble of the Tube would disturb me.
However, perhaps as I stayed on a Saturday, there appeared to be no trains early in the morning. As I had to be up early, being disturbed by staff heading into the adjacent breakfast room was not an issue. However, had I needed a lie-in then I'd have been woken by that noise instead of the trains so beware of that as an issue if like me, you are a light sleeper.
The room and breakfast though were absolutely fine with good toilet and shower facilities.
A good sized room for a single. Good shower & hot water.
Rumble of tube trains, as I was on ground floor, but distant, and no problem (and I'm a light sleeper!)
Full breakfast, freshly cooked.
Room recently refurbished, no street noise in my room at rear of hotel. One of the smarter hotels in Norfolk Square, though at £65 a bit more expensive than the usual Laterooms price for the Square.
Having explained that i was staying with my disabled grandaughter we were assaured the hotel would be suitable.however we were put on the third floor ,there was no lift and when we explained the situation to the staff they shrugged there shoulders and ignored us.no towels or tea or coffee in our room when we went back to reception i was given one towel and then the man at the desk walked away.i will be reporting your hotel and writing to the press about our experience
Summary
Very clean
Summary
The staff were courteous and helpful, the hotel clean and tidy, breakfast good. Don't ask for poached eggs!!!
Summary
Very basic accomodation which does what it says on the tin but no more. Age of the building means that it is extremely draughty. Breakfast was super-basic. The room could not have been smaller. Very pricey for what was offered. But staff helpful and friendly.
Summary
I awoke with quite a fuzzy head and wondered down to breakfast to discover that there was only two very thin slices of mushroom on my full english.
Apart from that it was an excellent stay.
I actually stayed at the sister hotel The Shakespeare which is next door. As the Dolphin was full I received a polite email asking if I would mind switching to a double room from a single at the same rate. Worked out well with a nice double room. Even though overlooking Norfolk Square it was quite quiet. The service at reception was very good with on time wake up call and provision of iron etc. Don't expect the srandards of a more expensive hotel but if you want a basic hotel at a reasonable price for a short business stay then worth considering. Tea/coffee included in room, only basic TV, shower worked well. Handy location of the West End close to Paddington Station but not on a main road.
Summary
Bit basic. Room a bit small, shower had no hook for shower head, breakfast room not enough capacity for all guests - had to wait for table. But room clean enough, and good location for pubs/restaurants. Angry to find out that laterooms had paid for room before I arrived, despite assuring me that card details were taken only to secure room.
Summary
This hotel is only 2 minutes walk from Paddington so very handy for all areas of London. You get what you pay for which was good value. Small room but not a cupboard as I have stayed in at many other hotels. I was onthe top floor which was quite a climb so be careful if you are not fit. Breakfast was full english, fresh and served quickly - all in all well done.
Summary
I expected this to be like a Guest House rather than a hotel for the price I paid. My room looked as though it was a converted larder. It was hot and stuffy with no ventilation. The window was an old sash & case window which would not stay open so I had to use the travel kettle to prop it open for air. The shower cubicle was in the room beside the bed. The toilet was a separate cupboard with a clear pane glass window and a see through net curtain so if someone was in the office behind reception they could see me on the pan. It was noisy all night, and at 3am all I could hear was a girl auditioning for the remake of When Harry met Sally...catch my drift? Don't touch it with a barge pole. Nightmare.
Summary
Basic and small room. TV, fridge and kettle all worked. Coffee and tea sachets in room, but no milk. Good central location with friendly staff. Breakfast not great. Overall it is a reasonable hotel for business travellers in a central location for the £70 paid.
